Friday Night Photos Garden Edition
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
It was an uneventful week here in the lower left. Mostly gray overcast skies. We did see the sun for a few hours Wed afternoon and yesterday morning. Also got a little bit of rain overnight three times this week. The price of gas has held steady at $5.79 where I fill up but I have noticed other stations have gone over $6. Some are closing in on $6.50. On the bright side ground beef was $1 a pound less than the last time I was at the grocery store. A small economic victory but I'll take my victories wherever I can get them these days.
Some more sights from the San Diego Botanical Garden.

Hi Social
Nice gardens you have in the lower left. If I were a bee I'd be frolicking in the glowing white fluffy blossoms. I will try to identify the tree, it's beautiful in the light you captured. That looks like a guava fruit, which has been producing here. I've been enjoying guava jelly from a friend.
Some photos from my local beach this week ...
Enjoy and be well all
Hey Janis B
.
Thanks for sharing your local beach scenes. The shot of the sprawling
tree branches is pretty amazing. Makes me want to do some climbing.
Reminded of the Charleston Plantations.

You can also swing on it
With enough force and wind in swinging on a trunk you can land in the water, which the Pohutakawa tree is formed by ; ).

Hi, janis
Thanks for the beautiful beach scenes. That first shot of the trees and picnic bench is fabulous. I'd definitely be hanging that one on a wall in my house.

I'm trying to figure out how to use Flickr, without much success. I need a tutorial from you.
I'd be happy for you to print it if I knew how to send a digital copy at a high resolution.
It's been at least
a half a dozen years since I set up my Flickr page. The only thing I remember about setting it up was what a pain in the ass and how unfriendly user Flickr was.
Not a tutorial, but a link to Flickr's help page. Hopefully it will be able to help you get your Flickr page set up.

I hope it helps, given my lack of experience in these technological matters. All I really want for Christmas is a digital camera as simple as my old Nikon FM with no extras or buttons to inadvertently press, and a simple and direct site to upload for sharing.
Those are some pretty amazing plants in your garden.

Especially like the spider web. Have always had a
fascination with their ability to weave a gotcha net
overnight. When the sun hits the silk in the morning
shimmering the dew, it is a mini universe come alive.
We have a local gal who has a good eye for capturing
landscapes. This one came out last week.
Looking out west across the river.

We have a topiary garden nearby. Your image of the plant people reminded me of this.
Some creative trimming involved here. Known as the Green Animals Topiary Garden.
Home to more than 80 topiary animals and other figures for more than a century,
Green Animals also blazes with colorful flowers from May until October.
The 7-acre property overlooks Narragansett Bay in Portsmouth RI.

Hi Q
You live in such a beautiful corner of the world. I love that you share it here. It's always a treat for me to recall its beauty. The green animal topiary overlooking Narragansett Bay looks so inviting for all ages.
Thanks
Hi, Q
thanks for your neighbors view of the local landscape. That topiary garden looks like a great place to visit.

Being treated to a litghtning storm just now

Love me some electrical visuals from the sky with the
associated sound effects. Tends to make me feel creative.
So cooking up a pot of beans in celebration.

Lightning forms
...seem to be fractals similar to trees, circulatory systems, etc. Surprised I could almost understand that video, 50 years after studying French.
I experienced another up close lightning strike when at daughter's house recently, like 6 days ago. Fortunately, it struck the house across the street, without injuring anyone. It blew a few roof tiles off without starting a fire, as they sometimes do. I've told all my lightning strike stories before. A year earlier, I was struck in our apartment kitchen by continuing to use the laptop plugged in while a thunderstorm was directly overhead. Ironically so was my neighbor in same apartment building across the hall. The charge came down through the electrical wiring. I'm surprised still by my own stupidity. I should know better because of multiple close call lightning strike experiences. Don't touch the plumbing, don't touch electrical outlets, switches, tvs, appliances, etc. I've seen lightning personally hit tvs, and come out of electrical outlets. Don't wash the dishes, take a shower, during the strikes. Wear slippers or shoes, no bare feet or wet feet on the floor, etc.
Surprised I have to tell people who know me not to do these things during a storm, because I've told them my history attracting lightning every time there's a storm.
己所不欲,勿施于人。
Sounds like you are unlucky with electrical spikes
.
I have the opposite force field. Once grounded out a 440 VAC circuit.
Went in my palm and jumped out at the elbow. Found a quicker exit.
Just was dazed and saw smoke around. Could have been fatal I suppose.
Close calls are almost as scary in retrospect. Love the visuals involved with
branch lightening. Did not see that last night, just flash booms. Fun!
Now, back to the beans.
