05/04 Open Thread - Global World Theofascism Day

Today is devoted to recollection of the unspeakable evil and horrors perpetrated by, among others and very much particularly, Roderic de Borja aka Rodrigo Borgia. From August 1492 until 1593 he was the supreme leader of a religious sect whose followers believed it to be right and proper that one chosen for the role of supreme leader by some of the sect's more exalted members should be the suzerain and master in all things of not only all lesser ranking members of the sect, but, more particularly of all human beings across the entire globe who were not already ruled by his vassals. All were bound in all things by said leader's interpretations of the sects religious dogma and there was really no clear separation between what was religious and was secular, the religious took primacy over all, and this was seen as how things should be. The edicts of the supreme leader and his assorted underlings and vassals plus all of the rules, rites, rituals and dogma handed down from earlier times were the law as to all matters and they were strictly and brutally enforced. Today we call this theofascism.

On May 4, 1493, acting as supreme leader under the alias Pope Alexander VI, Rodrigo issued an edict which came to be known as the papal bull
Inter caetera This divided ownership of and rule over all hitherto undiscovered or unclaimed lands in the entire world and all of the peoples and resources therein or thereon excepting only such as were already ruled by a Christian monarch between two of his vassal states, Portugal and Spain. This edict, amplified and modified by other later ones, loosed wave upon wave of horror on humankind. Wars of conquest, arbitrary slaughter, rape, murder, torture, theft, and enslavement of humans across the globe. Worse yet, it blessed and justified it. This day should forever be remembered as a day of unconscionable evil

Today is, among other things, also known as Star Wars Day May The Fourth Be With You

It is also Dave Brubeck Day, so, whatever you're doing, take 5.

This is the anniversary of the Haymarket affair in Chicago in 1886. Very little is really known about the event. There was a strike and a pro-labor demonstration. There was an assemblage of cops sent to disrupt and disperse the rally. A makeshift bomb went off among the police. Nobody knows who made it or set it off. Nobody knows how it got where it was, whether it was thrown or accidentally dropped by one of the cops. The cops opened fire hitting friend and foe alike. Several non-cops were tried and convicted for conspiracy and 4 were hanged. Nobody got a fair trial, quelle surprise

It's going to be a good day! What better way to celebrate firefighters
day than to watch coverage of the smoking container ship in the L.A.

but one of the headlines today that may fit in that category.

Israel is forcing out Al-Bustan’s 1,500 residents to build a biblical theme park.
To avoid paying huge fines, families are demolishing their own homes.

its actions probably qualify it as theofascist.

Unilateral sanctions have no standing and are simply illegal acts of war. As to a banking war, I suspect China might do alright, it holds tons of US debt

Looks like the war is about to resume in Iran before the end of the week. Ruled by fools I fear.

here is. The war nver stopped, there has been no armistace and no formal truce. There was a temporary "cease fire" which was immediately violated by the US with its blockade antics. Shit for brains tried to extend it unilaterally, but that is not a thing and was hence just more meaningless babble intended to confuse. The blockade is was and it continues and now orngeman is trying o provoke a firefight and he will probably get his wish it he hasn't already.

(Source- KBS 1 History Journal, ep. 199) Yoshida Shoin's memorial tablet is stored at the Yasukuni shrine. The shrine commemorates other heroes and patriots of earlier wars and conflicts associated with the Meiji Restoration and the Meiji government. The shrine also commmemorates WW II war criminals, such as Tojo Hideki. Koreans and other victims regard the shrine unfavorably as veneration of the Japanese imperial tradition.

A USN patrol boat was sent 2 missile warning shots strikes near the Straight of Hormuz
while trying to run the restricted zone. Probing or testing the waters?
The ship then was reported to retreat. CENTCOM stated no strikes occurred.

Further, an update found on Mario's tube with Diesen, news of warning shots toward a tanker near Oman.
Again, warning attacks by drones reported by UAE. It rhymes with that weird rescue operation of pilots in
Iran which went south a couple weeks ago. Blundering toward renewed hostilities in typical US fashion.

So much for 'Project Freedom'. The rules of engagement by the US have already changed in the Straight.
Now it is shoot to kill (like Venezuela?).

I think theofascism applies to a lot more sects that we think at first blush. Wherever (whenever) relisious law replaces or supplants seculr law, it is to some extent present.
