Good morning, good people! I hope this OT finds you all in fine fettle!
So, my client had been accused of grabbing his wife's arm, although no red marks or bruises were visible. They are in the midst of a divorce, and would it have been great for her to blame him for the split?
The DA wanted to dismiss it, as I did, but the Judge would not unless the woman said ok. She announced she didn't care. The Judge then said while looking at Facebook to see a video of his g'daughter hitting a home run in a play off game, he saw posts from folks in our county saying the justice system here was soft on crime. Because the posts were so nasty, he said he was gonna get tough because he didn't want to get slammed on Face Book.
I can't count how many judicial conduct rules he broke, and folks, I can't make this shit up.
I didn't see grocery prices go up too much. A Lunchable ham and cheddar at Walmart was $1.87, while my local grocery store ran a sale on it for $1.99. Gas was $3.49 yesterday.
It is still worth the time and the gas to drive 15 miles to Walmart than 2 miles to the local store.
We stocked up on soap, toothpaste, shampoo, antiperspirant, etc... If it contains oil or requires oil to produce it, I figure get it now before it is either unavailable or too expensive. What we buy today is as cheap as it will ever be.

Wondering what happened to the SPLC?
Several years ago I used to support the
organization for the good work they did.
Something changed. Now, it appears they fund KKK type causes?

Anyway, heading up to Manchester, NH for a tour of two
Frank Lloyd Wright buildings (among other things) for fun.
The Zimmerman house built in 1950 and also the Kalil house
built in 1955 on the same street, were designed by Wright.
They are both of the Usonion style. (I worked on one of his
Prairie style houses in Prescott, AZ back in the 80's).
It's about a 4 hour drive from here, so will overnight there after the tours. Fun!

As for SPLC, they contacted me years ago and offered me some case law and some legal opinions and it was totally unsolicited. I even spoke a couple of times with one of their lawyers. It was not a racial type of case. It was the horrid discrimination of gays. I had no idea they had been taken over by WEF and AIPAC, and the like. How many other charities have become addicted to wealth?

This Iran war has affected my behavior. One example, I swore off ever writing my Congresspeople after sending letters of complaint about COVID measures three or four years ago. They responded with verbal pats on the head, saying how important it was to be vaccinated, etc. But I couldn’t overcome the urge to write one of my senators the other day, demanding that Congress take meaningful action against the madman in the White House. For a moment I felt powerful demanding that a Senator do something, even while knowing an aide or AI will be the ones reading it. I couldn’t convince myself of any effect on the other senator (Wyden) who has dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship.
You can bike anywhere here in Eugene which has numerous bike paths. About 15 years ago I decided to upgrade from my pretty pink manual bike to an electric bike. I spent months looking at every bike store several times. Never could decide on one. Now without a bike and considering worst-case scenarios, figured I’d better grab an electric tricycle before they get sold out. Looked at the two main bike shops. Was trying to decide between a beautiful, expensive lime-green recumbent bike or white grandmotherly-type with big cargo basket. While driving around yesterday, I noticed a small bike shop I’d forgotten about. They had one tricycle which sold me immediately because it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other two. Hopped on it for a very short test drive and said I’ll take it. Henry Ford would approve, as it’s black. Probably won’t be wise to drive at night.

The Iran conflict has solidified my distrust in my government. It is granite-hard now. I wouldn't waste the cost of a stamp to "communicate" with a politician who has an AIPAC handler.
As for bikes, "e" or otherwise, we have zero bike paths here. What we do have is loaded log trucks with iffy brakes. Bikes are way down on my emergency list. I hope I don't regret that.

A late good morning...
Trade day was rained out (with about 0.2" of needed rain). I went to town anyway to carry garbage and recycling, fill up with gas ($3.6), pull a draw from the ATM, and go grocerying. My usual Sat. chores.
So a late start for me. Hope all is well in your corner of TX. The holler is green and there's plenty of chores, but we piddle our way through.

We have a red breasted grosbeak coming to the feeder. While JtC says they are common in Illinois, they are absolutely not in East Texas. I had never seen one before. Did cell phone towers cause them to go off their migratory path? Hmmm...
I am monitoring the headlines. It just isn't like Trump and Bibi to give us a peaceful weekend. They are conditioning us to live in fear, one crisis after another.

I guess that's when it will get real for people who live in the US. Every act of US destruction around the world is documented and accounted. The resulting hardships and damages are documented. Every country keeps a running tab. Damage to civilian infrastructure and utilities, civilian property damage, civilian injuries and loss of life; the US will need to pay for what it has done. In a democracy, all citizens are personally accountable for the destruction their votes have enabled. We are the deep pockets of the US.
That's going to be some wake-up call. Restitution is paid before any other non-essential government spending. Maybe the US can sell Post-War Bonds. If anyone will buy them.

Hi OTC. I try to trace things back to their beginnings, or tipping points, to get a handle on the motives for lawlessness and aggression. I'm not much of an historian, so I spend a lot of time reading. It seems to me that the current nightmare we are living through started with the World Trade Center bombing. Which was probably a false flag attack, in the first place. The People lost perspective and belief in their control. The conduct of the Federal government has been descending the stairway to hell, ever since.
Looking back twenty-five years out from the highly organized and symbolic 9/11 attack — the lack protection of the People's public property has been a constitutional failure. The nation security has been jeopardized by the corruption of the pay-to-play Congress, and Congress' deliberate inaction on constitutional 'Checks and Balances.' They have behaved like drunks, cowards, and gullible fools. They sit there on CSPAN listening to the most outrageous lies with stoney faces, and take turns arguing over idiotic details for the camera. Then, it all goes down the memory hole.
The Public is incompetent in understanding the significance of what they see happening. They have lost control and are clearly incapable of self government. Meanwhile, they are actively funding an immoral government gone 'rogue' that is making irrational threats against foreign countries. They freely kill foreign civilians on the open seas.The People should be deeply ashamed of the US... but they are not. Their cluelessness and callousness is shocking to People-Who-Can-Think.

I am a history buff since...3 or 4 years old? That's thanks to parents who lived during The Great Depression and WWII, and subsequent wars. And yet, I learn something daily that trashes my studies in public school. Is Lincoln a hero, or crazy as Trump? Is he the hero that saved the nation, or the evil mass murderer described by annalists today? Was I fed propaganda up to the 70s, or fed different propaganda since then? Must. Dig. Deeper. Caveat: I know Texas had a right to secede. I think the other southern states did as well, just not on the same written and contractual grounds.
9/11 flipped this country from 1 direction 190 deg. to the other. I read the news, thought the Muslims were the bad guys. Later saw the infamous Dancing Israelis video. Later, I met a fireman in NYC who told me he was ordered to organize a line of emts who stood around for a couple of hours with no alarms, no signals, but after the big crash into the buildings, the people rescued from the buildings were evacuated routed to exactly where he had set up the ambulances as ordered. And then I read in some released Epstein files that Epstein and Gates in 2019 batted around ideas for a catchy name for a new virus to lock down people of the world, maybe kill a bunch of them, and they agreed COVID was really a clever, catchy name, maybe even a catchy virus, if ill treated.
I wish we would all remain skeptical, do diligent research, double and triple check sources, before we are quick to call anyone with a different opinion from the mainstream a nutty conspiracy theorist.

I am not taking in any new cases, and am winding down the few remaining cases I have remaining open. I am down to 1 last criminal case, 5 family law cases, maybe a dozen probate cases, then away I go to a home office to produce deeds, wills, and estate planning documents. It is very possible that AI will be my competitor and those programs will charge less, so I am not expecting much homework.
JtC has 2 tests: an MRI and cat scan next week. Cross your fingers for good results! We have been drenched of late, despite predictions of drought.
