Seems like a lot of hardware and troops for a rescue.
Multiple sources are positing this was a genuine operation to seize the enriched nuclear materials from Iranian forces deep underground.
How this could be done successfully is still a bit of a mystery. Some have posited it was going to be "poisoned" with a dirty bomb so no one could access it.
Whatever the plan, it looks to have gone sideways and scored a big fat failure.
So a new narrative had to be developed.
An unfortunate (or fortuitous) shoot down of an F-15 and the subsequent search and rescue operation for the crew provided a fine cover.

The Romans, Ottomans, British etc. called the area "Palestine," a name now reserved for victims of genocide. And last I saw, which was last week, Israel was slaughtering Christians in Lebanon, which was another byproduct of the British/ French carve-up of the Ottoman Empire. And then you have the classical Israel, which applied to the northern half of Palestine, the southern half being Judea. "Jesus," or Yeshua of Nazareth to be sure, was an Aramaic-speaking Jew.

....between an aircraft and and a sortie. Remarkable. For example 24 tactical aircraft can possibly fly 48 sorties in a 12 hour cycle. During a forty eight hour cycle they could fly 96 sorties if they don't hotseat. IOW with the same aircrews. If the aircrews hotseat, namely same aircraft different pilots and other aircrew, the same 24 aircraft could fly 96 sorties in 24 hours barring aircraft down for maintenance gripes or other losses. I'm assuming a 1+30 cycle time per sortie, by extending flight time, the numbers of sorties will go down during an operational cycle.
Also I don't know about the air force, but having a colonel 0-6 in the backseat isn't that unusual in the navy or marine corps. But a colonel is a colonel. If he's there as senior officer he could exercise command authority if that's the mission understanding. fwiw

From my out of date observations
Back in the old days, maybe one or two squadrons in an airwing, might have squadron commanders who were full birds. One of them might even be a backseater/weapons officer. But an O-5 was typical as squadron commander. The airwing commander was a full bird senior O-6 typically, he would periodically take one of the squadron tactical aircraft up to maintain his flight qualifications. (oh god, the big guy is taking one of our birds today!) If he were in an actual wing mission, like an alfa strike he would be the commander. With a mixed assortment of type aircraft and crews from different services in the mission as described by Ritter on the judge's program yesterday, who knows who was overseeing the entire joint operation as commander.

says Pakistan is trying to broker some kind of deal. However, it seems to be more about a cessation for 2 weeks to negotiate, not a negotiated end to the conflict. I can't imagine Iran getting suckered into another cease fire.
Well, we will see what happens in a couple of hours or so.
Meanwhile, everyone I speak with is talking about rising prices for necessities, thinking about how to prepare for hard times coming our way. Now, even Republicans are calling for using the 25th Am. They must be hearing a lot of bitching from their constituents.

a few days ago, many of my MAGA friends and acquaintances have gone completely silent. It's as though they fear a "I told you so" attack and would rather bow out entirely and hide in a hole.
