Starting with Reagan, who barely made it out of office before breaking down completely, his last days in the Oval Office were carefully masked by all around him.
The sub-mediocracy of Bush the lessor was sometimes cringeworthy.
Biden was well past his best by date and we had to endure a four year Weekend at Bidens.
And then along came Trump.
Somebody is laughing their asses off at our expense.
Will we elect a horse next, or will the only available candidates all be cockroaches?
Going to the store today and stock up on food I'm unable to grow. Things like rice, flour, and cereal grains.
I'm good on fruits (peaches, apricots, and cherries), and have ample greens. Have the three sisters (corn, beans, and squash) goin' on.
Just need some nut trees. And maybe a prefab chicken coop.
I can get the chickens later, when needed.
Diesel going for $6.50 a gallon. Good thing my little Kubota is a sipper.
Regular unleaded is running $5.25. Don't need much of that though. Haven't bought any gas since my trip down to Lake Havasu early last November. Been driving the Leaf everywhere we go.
The oil companies hate guys like me.

I have to fly next week on a long-planned, paid-for-but-uncancellable trip. Luckily, I look pretty Anglo, and supposedly they aren't at DEN just yet. But I'm certainly not looking forward to it, either coming or going.
After all, we know that international airports are all filled to the brim with illegal aliens trying to sneak into the country to pollute our precious bodily fluids and sully our purity of essence, amirite? that by refusing to be a slave to the oil companies gouging by owning an electric car is signaling I'm fed up with the entire scheme.
I don't know how virtuous that is. But I'm definitely signaling happiness all the way to the bank.
I liken it to a few friends and acquaintances over the years fed up with the medical industry/professionals here in the US that they engage in Medical Tourism for better and cheaper care.

"Virtue signaling" requires a few brain cells
as it classically means making performative talk or gestures toward a socially desirable goal, while not actually taking any positive steps toward achieving it. (The Dimoratic party are experts at this, and some Repukes have also been learning the charade.)
