Friday Night Photos A Shot In The Park Edition
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos, your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Spring has sprung. Today is the first day of spring, thou you wouldn't know it with the weather we've had this week. Temps have been in the mid to high 90's inland where I live, and upper 80's along the coast. I've lived in San Diego county since 1977 and I can't remember temps ever being this high this early in the year.
Temperatures are not the only thing on the rise. Since the start of the illegal war of aggression against Iran the price of gas has crept up $1 from $4.29 a gallon to $5.29.
A dozen shots from my last visit to Balboa Park.

That second last image seems to be out of character with the
rest or did it just slip in by accident?
Hi, humphrey
That next to last shot didn't slip in by accident. It's one of two sculptures outside the Mingei museum. I included it to show some of the variety of things to see in the park.

The slatted dome is a visual trip

and the clay work of the facade is amazing. Haven't heard Itchycoo in
almost forever. Thanks!

Hi, Q
I think of the slatted dome as the wooden spider web. To me the amazing thing about the clay facade is it was done in 1915.
Is that where old anchors go to rest or to rust?

Wow, that clay art is a testament to the
.
level of craftsmanship from over 100 years ago.
I think the anchors would prefer to be under water.
These were seen on a beach on some Caribbean island.
(Can't remember which one).
More than a few boats lost their ground tackle to coral
in the area. Can't imagine the divers retrieving them
did not struggle a bit bringing them ashore. They weigh
about 50 pounds. Known as 'plow' anchors. Not easy to
unstick once set. Probably had to cut the rode to be freed.

Thanks, sp. Great stuff.
be well and have a good one

Late to the comment party--yet again.
I think I'm slipping mentally in my "golden" years. LOL. Your pictures are great, Sp. The 5th one down is fascinating. It reminds me of a kozmik spider web.
It has hit 90 at your casa???????? That is greedball human caused climate change for sure. It is gradually going into 'Endless Summer' here in ECFL, too. Interesting photo and history lesson, Q. I'm assuming from your comments that you are a sailer? I'm a waterbug too, but not at the sailer level. Sooooooo, Rec'd!!

Made a career of plying the vast waters of the globe.
Most devious adventures occurred close to the coast.
Some far off on the briny blue. Born in the shade of the
great lakes. Launching boats was the natural extension.
Hope you enjoy the sand spit some. Had some fun in
Mary Ester for a while between boat gigs. Mostly jarheads
in that area. Close to Destin. Mild seas.

Hi, obf
You're never to late to FNP.
Temperature at Casa SP hit 100° Friday afternoon. Thankfully things have cooled off to the mid 80s since then.
