OT WE 11 MAR 26 ~ Painted eggs

Pysanka Eggs

AKA Ukrainian eggs (писати) have origins in pagan times symbolizing renewal or spring right.

~

Although the symbolism has evolved over the years, it is still a tradition practiced in modern times.

LUB-PYSANKY-COLOUR-WHEEL.png

The batik method uses colorful dies, candles and steady hands to describe many patterns and color
combinations. The word писати comes from the verb 'to write'. The culture and heritage is written on the egg.
The designs vary from simple repetitions to elaborate scrolls depending on the skill of the artist.

US Navy refuses requests for military escorts through Strait of Hormuz — Reuters

Have been following developments in the Hormuz Straight as an indication where the hostilities against Iran are headed.
It is reported another cargo ship has been damaged in the waters south of the Straight. Also, there is an Island up there which is used by Iran to discharge their oil. Western powers are hatching plans to steal it which would be another bone
headed move. But that seems like our MO. Iran has stated that if they can not move their oil, none of the other Gulf countries will be allowed to either. Meaning western economies will crash. Perhaps that is our goal?

Those eggs are a work of art indeed.

I thought of you when this came across my feed.

She was built in 1915 in East Boothbay, Maine, and worked for more than six decades
before falling idle in the early 1980s. Her history and restoration are detailed in this

Yves Smith presents a collection of different notions, including that of Alon Mizrahi:

On a much cheerier note, Alon Mizrahi, who prides himself as an expert reader of the psychopathy in Israel, argues that Israel will not launch a nuclear strike on Iran.

There's a lot to ponder in that piece. There's also the "four options" piece of Qasim Rashid. One of the options is nuclear war. You know, there were some people back in the day who thought the end of the world would happen in 1971 or around then, and it didn't, and so boy did they look like fools. Or something.

For some reason, with Trump I am reminded of Charlemagne, or Carolus Magnus in the texts of his time. Charlemagne conquered his way into an empire larger than the Roman Empire of his time, which was then slightly larger than what we now know as Turkiye and occupying mostly the same space. Yet Charlemagne was illiterate: incapable of reading or of writing. Trump, on the other hand, is illiterate by choice, and his empire is shrinking rather than expanding.

But of course the Democrats will save us from the nukes, right? Maybe. If Israel drops a nuke on Iran. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it," Jeffries will tell us again, having said as much after Iran destroyed all US bases in west Asia.

I'm going to leave you with this quote from that most sage of Establishment Democrats, Kamala Harris. "Iran is a country, but we don't live there, so it's not our country. And when we go there, we are in another country." She totally could have won, right?

The Dumb Superpower

The Iranian IRGC command centre said it had expected the United States to be better prepared than what it is witnessing on the battlefield. According to the Iranian assessment, Washington entered the war convinced that overwhelming firepower would compensate for the absence of strategic thinking. What has emerged instead, they argue, is a military machine capable of immense destruction but struggling to understand the nature of the war it has entered.
From the IRGC’s perspective, the United States possesses extraordinary military muscles but little strategic imagination. Iran’s response, carefully structured around regional escalation and asymmetric pressure, appears to have caught Washington by surprise. The shock, they say, is visible not only in the Pentagon but also in the political leadership that authorised the war without fully grasping the strategic environment it was stepping into.
Tehran insists it warned from the outset that the war would not remain limited or localised. Yet, according to Iranian officials, the American reaction suggests an extraordinarily slow process of adaptation. Each new development seems to force Washington to relearn the battlefield it thought it already controlled.
The conclusion drawn by the IRGC is blunt and deliberately provocative: overwhelming military strength does not automatically translate into strategic intelligence. “When a country builds too many muscles,” one Iranian official remarked, “it often leaves very little space for the brain.”

https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Iran-Warns-Oil-Could-...

Oil markets are bracing for an even bigger potential price shock with Iran on Wednesday warning that crude could surge to $200 per barrel if the war involving the U.S. and Israel continues to destabilize the Middle East’s energy corridors.

Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military command headquarters, warned the world to “get ready for oil to be $200 a barrel,” arguing that regional security has been destabilized by the ongoing bombing campaign against Iran.

The $200 oil price tag warning follows a major Iranian drone strike on Wednesday on Oman’s largest oil storage facility.

Tehran also warned that no oil shipments will be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz until the attacks stop, placing the world’s most critical oil chokepoint at the center of the escalating conflict.

The narrow waterway between Iran and Oman normally handles roughly 20% of global oil supply and a large share of LNG trade, making any sustained disruption a major threat to global energy markets.

Oil prices have already reacted violently to the growing risk. Brent crude briefly surged to around $120 per barrel earlier this week before retreating toward the $90 range after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested the conflict might end soon. Renewed attacks on shipping and infrastructure, however, have quickly revived fears of supply disruptions.

Security incidents across the Persian Gulf are continuing to mount. Maritime authorities and ship-tracking firms report a growing number of attacks on commercial vessels operating near the Strait of Hormuz, with several ships struck in the latest round of incidents.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981

Cassiodorus's picture

I watched this again to make sure I was right about this. "Something else has to be done," Diesen says at one point. That's good! A realistic assessment, though, would admit to the likelihood of continual warfare for as long as Trump and Mileikowski are in power. They literally have to try someone else. More realistically, from Yves Smith:

Syrian-Palestinian journalist Laith Marouf has argued that wars of decolonization typically take six years. Even if you mark the start of this war as the Hamas raid of October 7, 2023, which Israel blamed on Iran when Iran in fact was very upset with Hamas throwing a spanner in its long-term efforts in the region, it would seem that there is an impossibly long time before resolution. With the prospect of wide-ranging, multi-fronted, lasting and severe damage to the global economy, it would seem that there would be at least an interim major reset well before then. But given that Iran has requirements that the US, Israel, and the West will now find impossible to swallow, how much damage will countries and citizens around the world have to endure before painful concessions are made to Iran?

The key, then, is to get Iran to accept the West's offer of painful concessions. Perhaps several leaders will have to go down in all of the West's countries -- Trump and Mileikowski being the first among many to offer resignations -- before someone can be found who can do the necessary work.
