Damn, that's a lot of rain. Glad to hear your landslip repair work is holding up. Sorry to hear of the lost lives nearby.

What a playland San Diego is! You have everything from natural wonders to invented ones. Thank you always for sharing the images you capture so well.

I can offer rain photos from this week. I am honouring the stability of the major landslip I experienced three years ago to the day, yesterday, with very much gratitude. Unfortunately, not very far east of here (2 hour drive), lives were lost camping by landslips. So sad.

I've been in love with cars since before I could drive. I missed my calling in life. Would have loved spending it behind the wheel of a race car. Great selection from the Sir Douglas Quintet.

We had a mid 50s red Ford station wagon when I was a kid. If you look closely at the 55 wagon above you will notice it appears to have suicide doors. Me thinks it didn't come that way from the factory.
There's a lot of things I like about new cars, navigation and rear view cameras to name a few and some things I don't like, such as the kill switch mentioned in the article you linked to.

(not as slick as the maroon one pictured) was our family car circa 1959 - remember that the new 1959 Chevy models - with the horizontal fins - had come out and hearing on the radio that they could put you in a new car for $100 I asked if we couldn't get a new car and had it explained to me that that was not the whole price, you had to keep paying after that.

We were Navy enlisted at the time, pretty sure we didn't get a TV until after getting the car - partly to keep me from wandering down to the neighbor's house mornings to watch I Love Lucy...

Cool here in Japan to see the occasional classic American car on the road - well-maintained cars 50 or 70 years old still on the road while new models are for the most part loaded with annoying extraneous crap and will be (largely un-recyclable) scrap in 20 or less.

At least with older cars you could own the damn thing - now you can own the hardware but not the software required for it to run. Nor the information constantly being collected about the car's movements - most of which 'features' you cannot modify or disable.
