The Weekly Watch

The Longest Night

Open Thread Image.jpg

Each trip around the sun seems to speed faster and faster. We better treasure our time friends! I think, we in the west, are indeed in our longest night as our power continues to wane and the BRICS+ model rises. This is a time of great flux. The US, EU, and Israel are doing great harm to their international relationships with illegal wars, economic sanctions, and aggressive attitude. This is the nature of empires. These cycles have occurred over and over through human civilization.

Screenshot 2025-12-20 at 09-46-45 civilization cycles at DuckDuckGo.png

The cyclic nature of civilizations is like our human lifecycle...inevitable. We are merely at the end of our natural cycle. It is okay. We just need to be aware of our decline, and accept it as we do the inevitability of our human death.

The Biggest Wealth Transfer in American History? Who Gets It?

(10 min) Everyone is talking about the biggest wealth transfer in American history — but very few ask the real question: who actually benefits?
In this video, we break down the hidden pattern behind wealth transfers using history, inflation cycles, and real examples from America, Rome, Weimar Germany, Sam Zell, and Detroit auto workers. This is not about inheritance hype or get-rich-quick ideas. It’s about understanding how currency debasement, asset ownership, and positioning quietly shift wealth upward over time.
If you’ve ever wondered why wages feel stagnant, why assets keep rising, and why the middle class feels stuck despite working harder, this video connects the dots. No predictions. No financial advice. Just clarity through history and patterns.
"This video mentions a $124 trillion wealth transfer, but most of it is already held by the top 2%. For the bottom 90%, the median inheritance is nearly zero. The video is AI-generated, but the information is research-based. Content is intended for a U.S. audience—watch and interpret carefully."

And for a seasonal message...
God Rest Ye Merry Billionaires

God rest ye merry billionaires, let nothing you dismay
Forget your workers families going hungry on this day
And save yourselves from income tax - you'll never need to pay
O tidings of corruption and greed, corruption and greed
O tidings of corruption and greed

In Washington and London-town you pay the lobby fees
To hold the reins both left and right of sham democracies
And keep us entertained so we don’t know we’re on our knees
O tidings of corruption and greed, corruption and greed
O tidings of corruption and greed

Fear not ye say the media, they only sing your praise
The job-creator gave us all that's good and all that pays
Be thankful for your stable-beds and don’t ask for a raise
O tidings of corruption and greed, corruption and greed
O tidings of corruption and greed

The Prince of Peace you call Him while you make war in His name
A man with no possessions made a shill for earthly gain
Imagine all the people led by men who have no shame
O tidings of corruption and greed, corruption and greed
O tidings of corruption and greed

This is a well reasoned idea...but sad we humans do it over and over again.

U.S. Power in the Middle East Slips — And Iran’s Sudden Move Turns It Into a Major Crisis

(14.5 min) For decades, a dominant global power shaped the political and military landscape of the region — but that influence is now slipping. A sudden and calculated move by a rising regional force has turned this decline into a major geopolitical crisis. This analysis focuses on how global authority is weakening, how power balances are shifting, and why emerging alliances are reshaping the future in ways the former hegemon failed to anticipate. Strategic partnerships, military positioning, diplomatic leverage, and the rise of a multipolar order are all explored, revealing a profound transformation that challenges long-standing control. The result is a region no longer defined by a single external power, but by new actors demanding a central role in shaping what comes next.

(32 min) Tens of thousands of European farmers have had enough with the leadership in Brussels dictating their lives. Farmers this afternoon were actively trying to smash into EU headquarters. Through police barricades while their' throwing tear gas at them.

Why European Farmers Stormed Brussels with Tractors (7 min) What began as a farmers’ protest exploded into chaos in Brussels as nearly 1,000 tractors rolled into the EU capital. Roads were blocked, tyres burned, fireworks lit up the sky, and even a Christmas tree near the European Parliament was knocked over. At the heart of the anger: the EU–Mercosur free trade deal. Farmers fear cheap South American imports could wipe them out, while EU leaders remain deeply divided. France and Italy slammed the brakes; others want to push ahead. The deal is postponed, not buried. As tear gas clears and tractors leave, one question remains: deal or revolt?

Today is the Solstice...
The December solstice marks the sun’s southernmost point in the sky, for all of Earth, for this year, the 2025 December solstice happens at 15:03 UTC (9:03 a.m. CST) on December 21. It’s when the sun reaches its southernmost point in our sky. We have the southernmost sunrise and sunset, and – for us in the Northern Hemisphere – the shortest day and longest night.
...After this solstice, the sun’s path will begin shifting moving northward in the sky again....
The earliest people on Earth knew that the sun’s path across the sky, the length of daylight, and the locations of the sunrise and sunset all shifted in a regular way throughout the year. They built monuments such as Stonehenge in England and Intihuatana at Machu Picchu in Peru to follow the sun’s yearly progress.
Today, we picture the solstice from the vantage point of space, and we know that the solstice is an astronomical event. It’s caused by the tilt of Earth’s axis and by its orbital motion around the sun... It’s this tilt, not our distance from the sun, that causes winter and summer. In fact, we’re closest to – not farthest from – the sun at the turn of every new year. In 2026, Earth’s perihelion – or closest point to the sun – will come at 17 UTC on January 3.

The Sun's movement over the year

Screenshot 2025-12-21 at 05-56-02 2025 December solstice All you need to know.png

Paolo Bardelli in Schiranna, Varese, Italy, created this analemma by photographing the sun weekly over the course of a year. Paolo wrote: “The analemma was calibrated and overlaid with an image taken over Lake Varese in the late afternoon of the winter solstice in 2021, featuring one of the many swans that flock to the shores of Lake Varese in the foreground.”

The solstice was part of the Roman holiday, Saturnalia.

Saturnalia marked a cosmic turning point at the darkening descent toward the Winter Solstice, the loosening of old structures, and the symbolic return of the Sun.
It was, in many ways, the spiritual “ancestor” of Christmas. It was a festival of reversal, liberation, joy, and communal rebirth.

So happy Solstice and holiday season, regardless of the holiday you celebrate. The human family has long recognized the importance of the solstice, although it's significance has been lost on modern societies. And though geopolitics are in flux, we remain connected to one another and the natural world in fundamental ways.

Have a great holiday week!

The thread is open to any and all ideas....

Anyway, philosophical debates aside, there is
a need to evaluate where we are at at this juncture.

past, and future, at least to my mind. My idea is that time flies ever faster, so treasuring all moments is important. Friends, family, even enemies shape us into the people we are at this moment, and we are all in constant change. When I think about ideas I held a decade or so ago, I see myself as mistaken and naive. I guess I'm saying life is a journey that is ever changing, but all those experiences shaped us into who we are at this moment...so treasure it all (good and bad).

Making chaos allows for control. It has been a goal of almost every empire.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday. Make the best of these times my friend!

Zionism is a social disease

....includes the United States and its remaining vassal states in Europe, along with a few PTSD-afflicted nations in Asia that willingly house US military attack outposts — namely Japan, South Korea, and the Philippians. Macgregor encourages USians — those who are aware of the looming death of the US Empire — to learn how to repair broken tools themselves, and to invite a former combat veteran of the illegal US wars into their homes for dinner.

It is important to keep in mind, however, that the rest of the world is not part of our dying Empire. The rest of the world is not in the practice of committing heinous sins against humanity.

The rest of the world is in the process of embracing and sharing new technologies and policies to improve the lives and livelihoods of their people. The rest of the world is cooperating with the Global South to create shared prosperity and global peace, where international problems are solved with win-win outcomes. China is leading by building a working model of a beautiful, healthy ecotopia where all nations can be well nourished and educated, and can enjoy a clean environment. Where all nations can trade freely with one another, and prosper together.

While you, yourself, may be forced to remain in the United States while the nation suffers through its failures and isolation and persistent corruption at every level — you may be in a position to encourage and help the young people you care about, to leave the US and find a better life for themselves in a safer nation. This type of progressive migration forms the foundation of human evolution. Migration is the key human instinct that has kept our species alive down through the ages.

I posted the comment, below, very late a few nights ago. I don't think many saw it. It describes a current and very healthy reaction to the violent decline and death of our corrupt empire:
.

This week, I noticed one emerging trend that is directly related to the currently deranged US Political Reality:

An astonishing 40 percent of US women, between the ages of 18 and 44, have indicated that they would like to leave the United States and settle elsewhere in the world. This is according to a Gallop Poll that has been running continuously for the past 20 years.
.

Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.

.

future-expats.jpg

.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the second straight year, about one in five Americans say they would like to leave the U.S. and move permanently to another country if they could. This heightened desire to migrate is driven primarily by younger women.
In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups.

Two in Five Younger Women Want to Leave U.S. Permanently

Q: Ideally, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move PERMANENTLY to another country, or would you prefer to continue living in this country?

.

The percentage of younger women wanting to move to another country first rose decisively in 2016, the final year of President Barack Obama's second term. That year, Gallup surveyed the U.S. in June and July, after both parties’ presumptive nominees were set for the November election, which Donald Trump went on to win. Desire to migrate continued to climb afterward, hitting 44% in President Joe Biden’s last year in office and remaining near that level in 2025. This suggests a broader shift in opinion among younger women, rather than a solely partisan one.

The sharp rise in younger women wanting to leave the U.S. has created a large gender gap between them and their male counterparts. Today’s 21-percentage-point gap between younger men (19%) and women (40%) wanting to leave the U.S. is the widest Gallup has recorded on this trend.

Since Gallup began measuring this question globally in 2007, few countries have shown gender gaps this wide in the desire to migrate. Before the U.S. in 2025, no country had recorded a gap of 20 points or more between younger men and women....

The desire to move for good is currently elevated among U.S. men as well as women under age 45, it remains relatively flat at low levels among their counterparts aged 45 and older....

The growing trend in younger women in the U.S. looking to leave their country is not evident in other advanced economies. Across 38 member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the percentage of younger women who say they would like to migrate has held relatively steady for years, typically averaging between 20% and 30%.

.

As the US Empire suffers its social and economic death throes, American men of a certain age will likely follow the migration levels of the American women.

...is valid advice. Where would you go?...might be fun conversation. Remember our c99 member Mollie? She and her husband went to Uruguay or Paraguay (I can't remember which). We also have members that went to Germany and France, and I think D?mich moved to Italy....not where I would recommend for young people given the EU choice of suicide.

I think language is a barrier for our young folks. Too bad we don't have wide spread second language education in our schools.

I plan to weather the storm here in the holler. At least for now, these back waters seem more protected.

@Lookout moved to Equador. The government there is totally different now, so I wonder if he stayed or not.
I have a lawyer pal that retired quite young, moved to an ex-pat community in Panama. He and his wife are still there after 20 years, more or less. Costa Rico also has an ex-pat community. The main problem with youths wanting to leave is work restrictions. Foreign countries mostly require that an ex-pat have sufficient income so that they do not compete or displace citizen jobs. How would a 35 yr old have some guaranteed income?

At any rate, you posted some interesting stuff. I will be listening to the videos as the day progresses.

Migration is a strong human instinct to find a better culture, a safer nation, shared values, a better path to freedom and prosperity .

It makes sense that the instinct to migrate would emerge strongly in young American women. Before they begin to have children and get stuck in a dying nation.

I suggest that those with a strong desire to immigrate should be helped by their friends and families to do so.

There are many nations that hold values that are compatible with a better life for people. People need to follow their instincts to find a place with a happy, healthy society where they will love to belong. What these young American women know for certain, is that the US is not a place where they want to live.

The General Trend: The number of US expats is increasing significantly, year over year.

is in the younger generations, because they have the most (decades) to lose. Eventually, they will be behind the levers of power.
I can remember how the American people held so much hope for a better future because John F. Kennedy was such a young President. Indeed, he was also the youngest to die.
Never electing anyone over 40 could solve all our greed and corruption problems.

...even though there was a struggle for civil rights, women's rights, and peace in Vietnam was on going. Perhaps it was because of those struggles that made us hopeful. Seems like after the withdrawal from Vietnam, and the end of the draft, spelled the end of the peace movement. Occupy revived my hope, but it was short lived.

I keep thinking with the internet we could develop a system with more direct democracy....a system where the people could over rule the congress and executive. Of course TPTB would never allow that kind of people power.

In fact, voting in the US along with so-called US election legislation, is anti-Democracy.

Democracy is a government that abides by the Will of the People.

But the fact is, the people in the US are too ignorant, misinformed, uneducated, and brainwashed by lies to form a government of any kind. That's why it has failed.
