The other is the announcement that trumpets chief of staff Susie Wiles
has been fired for having the temerity to describe the crimes
of the present executive branch in realistic terms. Oops. The CEO
of the MIC's fee-fees have been bruised. Vanity Fair interviewed her
on about 12 occasions and has published the results. Oh well.

Sorry it was at 8:42 EST.
I didn't give much notice like just a few minutes iirc. After the main booster was successfully recovered they just shut the video feed off. They only turned it on live 5 min before it launched. We went outside to look but it was too overcast to see. We heard the engine ignite and roar for less than a minute or so, but never saw it.
I did see the Atlas V launch at zero dark thirty on 16th. I got some pics of the Atlas V launch but I'm not real handy with this phone camera. The shutter speed was way slow because it was dark out.

Perhaps we could say that capitalism is like a fire -- it creates a lot of energy and in the end it burns everything down. Maybe something will grow out of the ashes. But metaphors are inexact.
Certainly, in the geological scale of things, capitalism is a one-off phenomenon. In the same way, the big rock which collided with the Yucatan Peninsula 66 million years ago, leading to the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs, was also a one-off phenomenon.

Gonna be a windy day here
in the front range of the Rockies. This big system coming in from the Pacific Northwet is forecast to give us 50-70mph gusts until roughly dawn tomorrow. All of the power utilities in the neighborhood have sent out public safety blackout warnings- they may voluntarily shut down sections of the power grid in an effort to prevent the huge downed-power-line-sparked wildfires that would otherwise happen during this insanely warm and dry week before Christmas.
We'll see if it actually happens down here on the Palmer Divide. But they are already getting some nasty winds north of here in Montana, so it could easily happen...
Might get a day off as a result. Who knows?

I toyed with touring Iceland to see the colorful skies, but just never got around to booking the tour. The cost of the flights and hotel was super cheap, as were the guided tours, but food and drink was high as a kite. And, of course, getting up at 3 am in hopes of seeing The Northern Lights just isn't my usual vacation sleep pattern.
Cap'n, the pics are wonderful, and Wiles appears to have given Vanity Fair enough info for a hit piece, but Wiles hasn't been fired. Yet. Trump is defending her, so far.

I found this Chinese culture channel Skritter. I think the host/narrator/interpreter's name is Fiona. Her English is excellent, almost flawless; she only stumbles occasionally on ten dollar English vocabulary words and then laughs at herself. I have no trouble at all understanding her.
Her videos are brief summaries with highlighted examples, usually with leads to more info if desired. To me this woman is a great teacher of mainstream Chinese culture, a wonderful intermediary and interpreter. She's the best I've found so far.

As I recall, it was pretty common knowledge in the mid sixties that Brown was a hotbed of CIA recruiters and recruiting (one of many reasons I rejected their offer to attend)
