Friday Night Photos Birdlandia Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 12/05/2025 - 5:00pm
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Another day in paradise here in the lower left. Sunny blue sky's and temps in the mid 70s with more of the same on the horizon for the next week. The nice weather is why so many birds spend their winter here. Lets face it, where would you rather be this time of year, somewhere where it's sunny and warm, or somewhere where it's cold and snowing?

Hey, great bird shots
.
the kingfisher has a punk feather-doo going.
Maybe attitude to match?
Cheers

Hi, Q
The Kingfisher definitely has a punk attitude. It likes to sit in the trees overlooking the water looking for fish while all the photographers gather around hoping to get a shot of it diving into the water and catching a fish only to have it fly off after 20-30 minutes to the other side of the lake.

Hi Social
I enjoyed all your bird photos. The Gallinule is of the same family as NZ’s Pukeko, but the beak of yours looks just like candy corn. I loved the Kingfisher and Cedar Waxwing photos, and the one of the Ring-Neck Duck because of the ripples around it and its reflection. I hope to be back onboard next week.
I'm glad you're enjoying and sharing the environment you live in. I am happy to be home, but a little sad to be so distant from the ones I love most. It was nice to be welcomed home by the Kereru.
Hi, janis
Welcome back. Hope you had a wonderful time with family.

Thank you Social
I did have a wonderful time, especially the time with my daughter, and in the whimsical world of young children.
Sp, that White Pelican looks like it could
be a cousin of a white swan. Yep, that Kingfisher sure does exude the big A(ttitude). I also like the Gallinule. All your pics are good. Glad to see yours, too, jb. Also, that you had a good visit with your family.
I've been reading (political) blog posts of just how miserable winter is up north. That's ECFL's claim to fame: its climate. It's around 75 right now, and badly needed rain is predicted for later on today. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. Rec'd!!

Hi, obf
The nice weather is why I live here. Our long range forecast for the winter is for warm temps and very little rain. I can live with that.
