Saturday Open Thread - 12/6/25: Odds and Ends

Good morning, good people!
I hope this OT finds each and every one of you in fine fettle!
Well, it doesn't seem various and sundry countries are willing to send soldiers to peace keep (puke) some corridor in Gaza for the Greatest Peace Deal Ever(puke) done by Trump.
I am both shocked AND dismayed!
We used to know peace when we saw it, and understand cease fire put your firearms down.
My parents lived through all the hard times and good times from 1920 until the 2010s. They loved Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Hank Williams, Roy Orbison, just to name a very few, and they loved George for this song:
Well, there is a wrong kind of love out there. To explain, Monday evening, a local news website I check routinely had a front page story about a bust of an internet solicitation of minors ring. 6 guys arrested, all from different but close by counties. One was from my home town. A client. A Hero Dad that we won custody from his wife of two small kids as evidence showed they had been encouraged to be way to friendly to dogs. I was the heroic attorney that won the Hero Dad the path to save the children. This big win was maybe 3 years ago.
None of you will ever know how I have felt since Monday. Here I am, 73 yrs old, practicing law since 1986, and I missed this "trait". Believing I was protecting the little kids, did I facilitate harm to them?
Anyway, the only way the kids and I every get over this is if he is found not guilty one day.
I have aged 10 years since Monday, still counting.
Don't look back. I suppose.
Well, I hope not a single one of you folks were let down by a friend, a family member, a co-worker, a client, and can live your lives free of betrayal, and do notice I excluded the Gummint from the list. We can count on them to bend us over.
On that note, this is an open thread, open to all thoughts, all info, and all things you feel worth sharing with your site member friends.
That said, let 'er rip!

Sorry to hear your former client
.
turned out to be a douche bag.
These things happen. George Harrison
was a fine musician, my favorite Beatle.
Making a goulash today for a gathering of
simpatico souls tomorrow for the spouses
B'day bash. Rainy today so cooking is good.
Thanks for the OT!

Good morning, Cap'n!
The story gets even stranger. Tuesday morning, out of the blue, the douche bag tried to befriend mt secretary on FB. You'd think a term and condition of his bond would prohibit his use of the internet.
George Harrison could sing, compose, and play a guitar (or sitar!) as well as anybody. I believe his spirituality was genuine. He died way too soon.
Happy cooking and happy celebration tomorrow. I am thinking about cooking either a soup or a casserole. The sun is finally visible today, so being outdoors might tempt me away from the kitchen.
I am still enjoying my coffee, will read some headlines shortly. Gotta keep up on our Enemies List, as we add one or more daily.
Take good care, dear friend!

Good morning...
It is a bit cool, but not raining. May even get to see a little sunshine this pm...I hope so.
Trade day was thin, but got some organic blackberries that look nice and my usual $5 worth of avocados. Visited with some friends. One is celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary. We're about 5 years behind them.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and thanks for the OT!

Hey, LO!
Good morning, my friend! I am curious: how many avocados does $5 buy up there in The Holler?
We grocery shopped yesterday afternoon. Seems people got their SS checks and emptied the shelves before we arrived.
I have been invited to some holiday thing and awards ceremony tonight. It is for the sheriff's department. I told the Sheriff I would stay just long enough to shake his hand, give him a hug and kiss on the cheek, then I was headed back home.
Make some good grub and good music today, ok?

This week it was four...
...but sometimes 5. If they are really large, as few as 3. I've become friends with them over the years of trading together, and we enjoy one another.

How fun!
And that is a good price.
Once, I got salmonella from eating an avocado. It was horrible. Ever since, I have a digestive problem if I take a bite. When I get up the courage to give one a try, I wash them off with Dawn before I touch them with a knife. My favorite sandwich is bacon/avocado/cream cheese, but I can't risk it anymore.
Damn bugs!

Doing my weekly checking of how
your Other Half is faring, otc? Sorry about your former client. Do you specialize in family law? That has got to be one of the hardest branches of law to endure. I, too, was a Beatle George fan, but seriously, what did I know at 11 y.o.? I liked their music, first and foremost anyway. That Early Period of 1962-64 is still my favorite one of their tunes.
Those songs have a joie de vivre in them that just reaches out and grabs you by the throat. Their later stuff is more technically brilliant, but that spirit just isn't the same. Just my $.02. You two take care! Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
Good morning obf!
I agree the first 2 years of The Beatles was all fun and frolic, very appealing to party minded kids. As they became famous and started traveling the world, their music started to trend toward appealing to the college crowd, getting more sophisticated and intellectual.
Nevertheless, their final concert, The Rooftop Concert, was literally aimed at the common man on the streets.
JtC has had great test results, everything showing improvement at a fast clip. A little fatigue, sensitivity to cold, but his body functions are otherwise normal. I can hear amazement in the voice of his oncolgist.
Thanks for your concern for his health, friend.
Enjoy your weekend!
