Friday Night Photos Animal House Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.

I had not been to the zoo in a while( March to be exact) so I stopped by for a few hours last Saturday morning. Normally I stay away from the zoo on the weekends because of the large crowds but since I had other business in Balboa Park (the zoo is located in the park) later in the day I bit the bullet and braved the large horde of humanity. Initially, I didn't think I captured anything worthwhile, but upon further review at home on the computer I found these half dozen worth posting.

Your photos are always incredible SP! But I have to say I especially love the tiger photo.

Tigers

Years ago, I bought this contemporary watercolor minwha tiger painting (below) from a street artist in Itaewon for about 15 dollars. It's one of my favorites.

Anyway, the displaced potted plants and orchids created a new ecology on the patio, which I've mentioned before. These are two crude photos I took a few days ago, during the last snake encounter. Hurricane season has begun. This complex has no tree cover. The wind can get bad here. If we get any storms, we'll have to bring the potted plants into the living room.

@soryang
Nice watercolor of the tiger and a very colorful looking grasshopper. Do you know what type of snake that is. I hope Mother Nature see's fit to spare Fla. this hurricane season.
Thanks for the Animals tune.

It's not a good picture and I was looking at it through the screen. I'm going by the shape of the head and body and the length. I can't tell what type of kingsnake really. They are pretty common here.

Did you bring that insect creature in with your plant, or is s/he a regular resident ; ).

Thanks for the photos, and I am glad you are more settled, and wish you a more peaceful season.

I never saw an insect like that before

Well not as large and colorful. It appeared the snake was after him or her. Ms. So said she didn't think it could fly. I don't know what became of it. In the picture, it does look like it's inside, I thought it was on the porch. I'll have to ask Ms. So when she gets back.

Even with wings it can't fly, only do small jumps.

I don't know how you found that! I was mystified. Ms. So said, "I don't think this grasshopper can fly, wings are too small." Glad we didn't get too close to it.

@soryang Hi soryang. Good news on the hurricane front. The NHC site is current and running, and there is c/o the Air Force a hurricane hunter aircraft available if and when needed. Love your tiger painting. I've always loved classic Asian art. Smile

For me there's something therapeutic about getting out with a camera in search of something others might find interesting.

What wonderful portraits!

Looking at the zebras from that angle, I can see why some enjoy the pattern as a fashion. The camel smiling so sweetly at you must have made it all worthwhile ; ).

Not much, but another look into the terrarium

Be well all and enjoy the weekend

I'm amazed at the amount of humidity in your little terrarium. It gives it an underwater look.
Enjoy your weekend as well.

and the plant is from a more tropical environment, but both are enjoying where they are in all the humidity.

FWIW, I have been on a few safaris in some African countries, seen gobs of zebras. So, we all think the zebras look alike, might not discern any difference in their asses, as, for example, in your fantastic photo of same.
But a baby zebra knows better, knows and sees Mom's special, one of a kind stripes. All different.
Keep snappen' 'em friend!

Since we're doing some sort of Eric Burdon and the Animals tribute, you have to add this gem.

Everyone stay safe and sane. Rec'd!! Smile
