Go Esco!

I have to admit, I have not paid that much attention to the news, or anything really, in the last week or so, unless it's a story with some feel-good in it. For example, a man was walking his dog, in Renton, WA. They got hit by a car, which of course fled the scene. The man was pretty badly hurt, the dog had some wounds too. The dog ran back home and got the man's wife. Both the dog, Esco, and the man, Richard, are ok. Richard had to have a bunch of operations, but he's ok. And Esco is a hero!

I'm amused, sort of, by the news about the new George Washington Channel, and the Gulf of America, and our new state, Greenland. And all the other stupid and silly stuff is amusing and head-shaking but in the end, I just say, 'bleh'. While we're at it, we should change the name of America too. I mean, why are we honoring some old Italian guy, Amerigo Vespucci? That's nuts. Let's call it, hmmm, not sure, yea, 'LHG' (Land of Hope and Glory!), or as Vespucci called it, 'NW' (the New World). There we go!

Happy Thursday!

Hope Thursday is good for everyone! I'm hoping for the same for me. Last week was very stressful. Nikko is going through his adolescence, he's just turned 10 months old. And dang, it shows. He's basically lost the ability to follow commands (unless inside). His 'come' command, which was really good, is non-existent. He hears the call, looks up, flips you off, and then goes back to chasing the rabbit/vole/shrew/mouse/frog/toad/insect/puff-of-smoke he was after. Last week, on Thursday, he somehow broke through a picket fence (in the less than 10 minutes he was outside), which was covered with chicken wire (to stop him breaking through the picket fence) and raced acres away into the neighbor's horse fields. My husband went after him to try to make sure Nikko didn't get lost in the forest or swamp, and Nikko thought that was fun. He ran and played and chased things and ran. I thought we were going to lose him for good, but hubby eventually was able to grab him. It took us 2 to 3 hours to get Nikko back into safety. We think Nikko dug through a rabbit tunnel under the fence, although we aren't sure. Anyway, Nikko's area is now triple fenced and any other area he's allowed in, unleashed, will be triple fenced as well. Never had to do that with our other dogs - the picket fence was enough, but they were females and maybe that makes a difference?

So that's my poor excuse for not being able to answer posts very quickly last week. My apologies. I'll do my best to answer quickly and be part of things this week!

The re-naming of America

Could have some fun with this.
As long as the new regime is
rewriting history (a new way to make America sound great)
how about:

WW1 is now American Forced Conquest
WW2 is changed to Glorious Empire Consolidation
New York is Trump Palace North
Florida is Trump Palace South
Canada becomes US Northern Territory
Mexico will be US Southern Territory
Change the pictures on dollar bills to cartoon characters:
(Donald Duck on ones, Elmer Fudd on fives, Wiley Coyote on tens, etc.)
FAA stands for freaken amateur aviators
and set-up a system to anoint billionaires as official royalty

The possibilities are endless ..

Hope you survive the Nikko adolescence phase.

All of these name changes make sense!

Yes, we should rename things. I like 'Glorious Empire Consolidation', and 'Trump Palace North' and 'Trump Palace South' a LOT! The FAA change really hits the spot too. I think we already have a system to anoint billionaires, it's just called 'American (Amerigo?) democracy'. Hah.

Really good! My first finnish spitz, Reyna, saved me from attacking dobermans once. They weren't entirely into the attack, they more wanted to chase me until I dropped from exhaustion. Reyna, who had been attacked by them when a puppy (and I saved her then), went after them barking like a wild wolf. And they stopped, looked surprised and turned and ran. Dogs can really ROCK

That song. WOW. First I was tearing up, then I was nodding in agreement and clapping my hands, then I was just amazed. That song says it all, in detail. Could have been written in the 60's... or 70's... or whenever. We are always at war now, aren't we? Thank you for introducing me to the song and the young artist Jesse Welles.

Naughty Nikko

Glad you got him back and I know the fear you felt while he was gone. I went through it many times with Charlie the escape artist and once with Sam.
She started pushing boundaries at the cemetery and she would only mind me after I shouted 5-10 times.

I got a training collar and she cleaned up her act after 1 zolt. I know some people think they are cruel, but if she wants to walk off leash she has to mind. Now I only have to ring her doorbell and she comes back. If she gets too far in front I calmly say her name and she’s back at my side. Maybe think about it.

It’s 33 here, but feels like a balmy 70. Sunny too and there’s still a few patches of snow for Sam to roll in.
