Perhaps the biggest news going on right now is the summit of BRICS attendees in
Russia. This could very well be a major game changer. A civilizational realignment.
Whenever the global majority combine to throw-off the colonizers and act together
to establish a just world, it signals a change is going to come. One way or another.

historical events on this day ~

About 36 countries have sent delegates to attend the BRICS Summit.
Hammering out issues like financial cooperation, commodity markets
and security agreements.

What is the western response? The IMF and World Bank Group are
meeting in NYC to discuss "pressing global development concerns".
HA. Like spiraling debt? I feel their days of influence are waning.

What is on your agenda today?

I am struggling with my books. I have a horror to throw books away, It makes me feel like a Nazi. Some of them I just have because Meteor Blades once recommended them.

I wished I would know what has become of him. Is he still there, where he once was ...
Can not find the question mark on the keyboard. So no more questions.

Many thanks, good health and peace amongst all of you.

to the groups holding book fairs
to raise funds for their cause

all over surrounding neighborhoods to trade and drop off books and magazines. They are mounted on wooden posts and are large enough to hold a couple dozen books out of the rain.
Lately, I've seen a couple of veggie stands where local neighbors give away their excess produce.
This is what America used to be about everywhere. It helps me keep my faith in this country.
Nice to hear from you, Mimi.

Working today on a ford across the stream on the back 40. Laying out forms and wire today and pouring on Friday. Always something.

Cabbage, collards, broccoli, kale, etc are growing nicely. About time to dig sweet potatoes. Still very dry here. Cool mornings and afternoons in the 80's, so the weather is pleasant...just dry.

Amazin' what you can find on the innertubes

The top one is very important and very well done. There are a ton more in Sputnik and rt, often on very specific narrow points.

There is a lot of pushback against specific behaviors of the Western Rogue States and their criminal behavior and calls for golbal refornms as well as reforming the UN.

Beyond that, of course, I have all my personal to-dos and such, but no bridges for brooks to babble on

if I knew the goons wouldn't arrest me for terrorism or antisemitism or some such. Or, God forbid, install me as Transportation Secretary.
Have to agree Brics changes everything. It's a Brave new world. Dozens of sovereign countries are beating feet to join as a whole new kind of "woke' takes hold. Now, there is a way out from under the western cabal's boot.
I feel sorry for all of us in the western world when the collapse begins. It's going to be brutal, and the ruling oligarchs are going to turn what screws they have left to hold us under their power at all costs.
We should all start to figure out now how to take those screws away from them right at their most weak moment.
Seize our country back.
The first thing to do right now is rescind all the "continuity of government" legislation that has been passed around state governments across the nation.
This legislation gives state governors broad dictatorial powers in the event of catastrophe, nuclear devastation, or civil collapse. And the power moves in descending order down to the lowliest elected official.
Thanks for hosting this Open Thread.

They are getting nasty. Earthling2 has been getting messages from DNC or someone at 202-571-8856 wanting her to commit to voting for Harris. She has refused to respond. Today she got another that said: "We've asked 6 times if you support VP Harris__________"
We don't know what the rest of the message reads because we don't want to open the message. But this only shows how profoundly panicked and desperate they have become.
Just when you thought the Harris campaign couldn't become more cringeworthy, they go and out do themselves.
Ugh!

they got her phone #. Unless from the elections office. In this state they ask for a phone # on your ballot return envelop but indicate it is optional. She may have inadvertently included it last election season.

I received a hand-written postcard from a volunteer for the local Democrats telling me that although who I vote for is private, whether I vote is public information. When did threats become a chosen incentive to vote in this country?

But the wording was condescending and rude, as though there was something wrong with her. How dare she refuse to commit!
I wanted to reply it's none of their damn business who we are voting for, so STFU.
But we would have to open the message to do that and who knows what danger lurks with that.

that tells you if your friends or family have voted yet. Apparently lots of states have the app this year. Dunno if it’s new, but I’m seeing lots of diarrhea diaries on it.

I don’t think it’s anyone’s business whether people vote or not, but then it’s no one’s business whether people are vaxxed or not and we saw what happened with that. People decided that yes indeed other people’s medical issues were their business. Pffft!

hit 50 political spam messages in a single day. My political dreck filter puts them into the trash automatically, so I don't have to read them, or even see anything beyond the headline.

Even that is too much. There were over 3k messages in there since about August, and that tears it. I've now changed the filter to automatically trash everything that even *smells* like political crap, so that I never see them at all. I used to think that there was a chance of a false positive that might possibly trash something important.

I no longer think that way.

6 calls today, but I never even turn my ringer on on the phone anymore, so they just fell directly through to the voice mailbox- that I carefully and deliberately keep full, for election season. I voted already- there's no reason to keep sending that stuff, or calling me, or annoying me further. Enough.

I had a good chat with a friend today about the upcoming economic crash. He is one of the few locals who grasp the BRICS summit's importance.
He is planning on retiring in a year from the District Attorney's office, and ex-pat to his family's property in Honduras. Might not be a bad idea.
If we ex-pat, it will be to a BRICS member country.
I might purchase the sheet music for that nice piece about calming a bear. On crazy court days, I would be the bear in need of calming...
My mind was bent by the spaghetti faucet drip!
Thanks for the OT, dear friend!

@earthling1 Mexico, Costa Rico, Panama, Trinidad, Guatemala, Honduras, Columbia, and Ecuador. Austria requires you be very rich, so forget that.
Panama and Trinidad are stable, as is Costa Rico. Mexico is heading that direction.
The most likely place I would choose is Panama.
