This is an ancient concept going back to Egyptian times in references made to
The Legendary Emerald Tablet. Similar associations can be found further east
such as the law of karma. A reflection of the macro in the microcosm and such.
It is appealing in the spiritual realm.

I got back from vacation to find work has piled up with one emergency after another.
Shockingly, some up and coming family law super star committed malpractice on a case I took over. There is just no other option to right the wrong that she has done to my client that he will pursue a state bar grievance against her, with my full backing. She has no business practicing law and just be disbarred. It was just so damn unavoidable.
She can make a living in the future selling Verizon phone plans at Walmart.
Gotta head to work!

the various NGOs that monitor the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, in the hope of getting confirmation one way or the other on the potential Iranian nuclear test last Saturday.

The silence is deafening.

There is vast speculation in the media, but not a word from those who do not speculate. That leads me to believe that it was an actual earthquake, and not the test of a nuclear device. My rationale behind that belief is that, if it *was* in fact a test, one or more of them would be documenting it in detail, and that news of that magnitude would be worthy of a special release.

In any case, the people with the definitive answer are remaining mum, and it looks like any more information will have to wait for either their usual monthly publishing dates, the arrival of the election and the resulting release of the stranglehold on hard news by the intelligence agencies, or the abrupt conversion of Tel Aviv into a fused-silica parking lot.

In other news, I note that 60 Minutes will be making an in-kind donation to the Harris campaign- by carefully editing out all the word-salad blather in her interview, in an attempt to somehow make her appear intelligent. What a fraud.

Got busy with chores and have most done already. Still going to bush hog a bit.

Beautiful, but dry, weather here. A cool 55F this AM, headed toward mid 70's.

We're concerned for friends in FL as Milton comes through. I hope soryang is safe and prepared. Helene was devastating, and now another destructive event. After watching some of the NC footage, it makes me think about better preparation. I need to crank and exercise the old generator down by the well house. You can't really prepare for every contingency because some are just unforeseen.

Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. I'm very distracted today. The rain hasn't stopped all day.

Just passed high tide here about an hour ago. Then again about 1:15 am tonight and about 2pm again Thurs. This will be a factor in any flooding and drainage issues. Having a low tide at about 7 am tomorrow could help or at least be a neutral factor until it isn't.

In the old animistic/ shamanistic outlook that probably preexisted the Dao, and survived along with Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism right up to modern times, in the eclectic perspective of the Far East, natural disasters, storms, plagues, rebellions, and wars, reflected the loss of the "way." The monarchs obligation to care for the people.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the assassination of Queen Min. Coincidentally, the South Korean defense minister informed the National Assembly that Japanese troops could be stationed on US military bases in South Korea without the National Assembly's constitutionally required consent. A recent poll showed Yoon's popular approval rate down to 16 percent.

You can't make this up. Yoon also had a summit with Marcos. It's almost as if to compensate for his lack of accountability to the people of South Korea, he becomes closer and closer to the so called Indo-Pacific alliance, to compensate for his administrations increasing instability. New disclosures of corruption and election law violations by Yoon and the "Empress" of South Korea seem to be disclosed daily.

Been raining here all day, they are projecting 12 inches of rain, and hurricane one conditions. Hope we all get through this. May lose power later today for who knows how long. I'll stay and try to mitigate any damage that I can. I can't believe the neighbor left loose sheets of plywood in front of his home after boarding up. That can't be, maybe he'll come back.

There are 2 military bases in South Carolina, but they haven’t been deployed because they might need to be sent overseas if Israel attacks Iran.

Also too….do not pass go…do not collect $750.

My sources have no reason to lie. Perhaps some exaggeration but it all seems too likely to me.

FEMA is a charlie foxtrot, whatever its apologists and administrators say. Almost every person who applies for the $750 is denied. For example, if you have insurance, no $750 because your benevolent insurance company will pay. Yeah, but for many, only after being dragged kicking and screaming to cut the check.

An assistant rents her house in rural Georgia. Her losses are real but because she is a renter, no $200 to replace the farm produce and meat lost in her freezer due to a week without electricity. That’s all she asked for. $200B or whatever for Ukraine but no $200 for her. Some areas still do not know when power will be restored.

Compared to the mountains of North Carolina, these are the fortunate. This is the message the people are getting…It is likely to get worse when Milton slams into Tampa-St. Pete Wednesday night. Sustained winds back up to 150 mph with 24 hours to go. This can be a killer.

I saw pictures of areas in Florida that got hit by Helene and there are mountains of piles of house contents sitting next to the curb. There are blocks and blocks of debris including cement blocks laying everywhere that make a nice target for the wind to pick up and hurl wherever the hell it wants to.

Read the article and see how Bush at least moved resources into the area before Katrina hit. The Biden administration is too busy getting its wars on to help Americans! And of course the media isn’t riding his ass like it did Bush.

Trump started a go fund me that last count had raised $4 million for hurricane victims. Some few billionaires donated $100,000….

Did you watch the video I posted last night on how bad the storm surge will be in some areas? If not do so. This is beyond life threatening. 5-15 feet surges are not survivable.
