OT WE 4 SEP 24 ~ Writing for fun

It's not a job, it's what I do for a loving, darlings.
~

There are some here among us that express thoughts and feelings
for the sheer pleasure of getting it out there, which is great IMO.
Open threads are useful in that way. Thanks to y'all who contribute.

I know this is a political based blog, but it is also so much more.
Music, history, memories and poetry encompassing the passions
of our lives for all to share. So here we are.

~

The free thinkers here try to do the community a service by digging up
sometimes obscure perspectives and developing a saner outlook in
contrast to MSM memes which are frankly fairy tales..

Keep chipping away at the foolishly false fantasies meant to distract from
rational discourse. It can be fun and enlightening!

Received a note from the Jill Stein campaign. They issued a counter punch to
the AOC screed:

AOC dares to mock Jill and the Greens and say we haven’t built “real power” – so let’s take a good look at what kind of “power” the anti-Democratic Party is wielding and how they’re choosing to use it.

~

AOC talks about “building real power” but the power of the anti-Democratic Party comes from an endless well of dark money from their billionaire donors and AIPAC. That wealth gives them the power to bring in an army of well-heeled lawyers to take aim at our hard-fought ballot access victories.

I find it interesting that this is the same tone adopted by Tulsi Gabbard in her new book
For Love of Country. RFK, Jr. is also making similar statements in his recent
speeches and interviews. Seems to be a pattern here.

Anyhoo, what's on your plate?

Writing is a good way to vent, organize your ideas, and be creative. This new digital world provides a way to include photos, video, and audio. It is a creative outlet for sure.

Well today it is off with the bush hog and on with the box scrape. It is so dry here that the gravel road has ripples that are going to get smoothed out by the box scrape. Here's to smooth sailing!

depending on the variation
the A/B's may work?
if you can get your hands on IVM
that has worked for me

EARLY TREATMENT PROTOCOL3 (for Delta variant) 1. First line agents (use any or all medicines; listed in order of priority/importance)

ANTI-VIRALS
lvermectin1 0.4–0.6 mg/kg per dose (take with or after a meal) — one dose daily, take for 5 days or until recovered. Use upper dose if: 1) in regions with aggressive variants (e.g. Delta); 2) treatment started on or after day 5 of symptoms or in pulmonary phase; or 3) multiple comorbidities/risk factors.
and/or Nitazoxanide 500 mg 2 x daily for 5 days after meals. Combine with ivermectin (preferred) or substitute if ivermectin is not available. (Nitazoxanide is often unavailable or high-priced in the USA)
ANTI-SEPTIC ANTI-VIRALS
Antiviral mouthwash: Gargle 3 x daily (do not swallow; must contain chlorhexidine, povidone-iodine, or cetylpyridinium chloride). Iodine nasal spray/drops: Use 1 % povidone-iodine commercial product as per instructions 2–3 x daily. If 1 %-product not available, must first dilute the more widely available 10 %-solution4 and apply 4–5 drops to each nostril every 4 hours. (No more than 5 days in pregnancy.)
ANTI-COAGULANTS + IMMUNE FORTIFYING
Aspirin Vitamin D
Melatonin
325 mg daily (unless contraindicated) Vitamin D3 5,000 IU daily. Preferred form if available: Calcitriol 0.5 mcg on day 1, then 0.25 mcg daily for 7 days 10 mg before bedtime (causes drowsiness)
ADJUNCTIVE / SYNERGISTIC THERAPIES
Quercetin Zinc Vitamin C
250 mg 2 x daily 100 mg/day (elemental zinc) 500–1,000 mg 2 x daily
PULSE OXIMETER
Monitoring of oxygen saturation is recommended (for instructions see page 3)

Great link to Colossal, great stuff. Things keep on keepin' on, including trash goes out today, a way to get some steps in. 63 F already, destined for 92, they say, which means 100 in back yard. That means this is a mostly morning day, with maybe some work in garage (sans a/c) too.

Fun with the Gnus:
The guardian tells me:

At least seven people died in a missile strike in the western city of Lviv, with 53 injured. Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv, said three of the seven dead were children. The attack took place in Lviv’s historic centre, usually considered a safe haven.

plus extra details about the dead and wounded, but nothing about why the Rus would do such a thing.

Sputnik tells me:

“This morning, the Russian Armed Forces launched a group strike with long-range precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic complexes and strike drones on Ukrainian defense industry enterprises located in the city of Lvov,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that these enterprises produced and repaired electronic components of Ukrainian Armed Forces aircraft and missile weapons.

but nothing about the dead and wounded because, unlike the ukies, they do not intentionally target civilians.

One could probably produce a freshman level poli sci or soiology essay out of just that pair of articles, or maybe 2 or 3 more such pairs.

Meanwhile, while I'm on the topic, the militry sumary channel reports that Rus combat units are now equipped with their own dedicated mobile Iskander launchers for use against targets of opportunity that would warrant the use of such a weapon. Dunno what kind of guidelines might accompany them.

be well and have a good one

Whenever the heat is up, I depend on fans. Even a little moving air helps.
It is hard to get real numbers in wartime. Some big shot in the Azov brigade
threw out a number of 600 wounded. Of course team Z suggested the RUS
hit a hospital, but didn't.

The Kursk cauldron sounds like epic fail for the Ukies. 9K soldiers taken out
and tons of equipment. Rather foolish, as the entire eastern front is now
collapsing rapidly. Once again, uncle sugarman backed a loser.

Speaking of losers, team Biden is reportedly pissed at Nutty yahoo for not
going along with the latest, final, (till the next one) cease fire deal. Just can't
seem to buy a bump in the polls with all that AIPAC money.

Good luck

...prompted me to look for a Zhuge Liang quote on the internets that was applicable to Ukraine's situation, but I never found it.

I looked for lists of his quotes in English but didn't find much. I went to the Wikipedia which brought me to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which I had heard of before, and except for a few references by Dr. Gao (Dr. Gao's classroom channel youtube) don't know anything about. So the search ultimately brought me to this list of quotes from some new translation. The guy who made this list of 3 Kingdom quotes and the related stories in the classic novel is a gamer, so...take it for what it's worth. I found some of these quotes and stories quite interesting and provocative-

Quotes from Romance of the Three Kingdoms

In any case, I was hooked from the first line in the novel.

天下大勢,分久必合,合久必分
All great powers reunify after long periods of division, wane and break up after long periods of unification.

I checked another older translation, to kind of verify, that this is actually the first line in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by Luo Guanzhong, and it is. This another translation from a PDF English translation by CH Brewitt Taylor:

Domains under heaven, after a long period of division,
tends to unite; after a long period of union, tends to divide.

So it looks like the pdf is 1466 pages, wonder if I'll have enough time available to read it.

I saw the new PC game from China, Black Myth Wukong, was being talked about everywhere a few weeks back. I found Ms. So was familiar from grade school with tales from Journey to the West, another Chinese classic on which the digital game is based.

Wyatt from DPA is a gamer. He analyzes Ukraine on one of his youtube channels, and apparently Defense Politics Asia, has numerous other platforms he uses. I don't know how he maintains all of it. He's a former intel officer from Singapore. I noticed Singapore picked up my miserable blog where I store all my writing/news translations/ Korean song translations, etc., after I chatted with him on his discord channel over a year ago. So I don't recommend discord, or game communities over there. Wyatt denied during a Daniel Davis interview not too long that he was still in the intelligence business. Said he left the Singapore armed forces, years ago. I wonder how he runs his digital empire then? He's gotta have others working for him. His analysis on Ukraine is very conservative, but he finally admits they are losing big time on the main front now. As to the Kursk front, he takes a much more positive view of Ukraine's efforts than others. I'm not persuaded at all.

There is an old Chinese tactic called the "empty fortress" strategy from the classic. Some claim it originated with Zhuge Liang, others not. Bear with me, I heard a female analyst with a Russian/Ukrainian type accent saying something like well Putin had notice from military in the field that Kurst was about to be attacked for days and didn't react, discounting the information, blah, blah, blah. The tenor of this, is he screwed up, the Russians don't know what they're doing, etc. Go figure. I look at it as a variation on the empty fortress strategy, and Zelensky fell for it. Now no matter what he does, he loses. If he pulls back from Kursk before he loses everything there (which isn't much in real terms), the Harris ticket takes the loss. If he doesn't move his best forces to the main front, where they are greatly needed, he will get routed over there as well. What to do?

Yes, I like to write for fun, but not on a schedule. Thanks for the OT QMS!

All great powers reunify after long periods of division,
wane and break up after long periods of unification.

The nature of cultural development and dissolution.
A natural balancing force inherent in our social species.

This makes sense in the current divisions between
RUS and UKR. Also with PAL and ISR.

The empty fortress analogy is appropriate as well.
Thanks for sharing this! Makes one think ..

@QMS

...at gamer Keng's link. I think the translation he's promoting is his own. Aside from the first line which also brings Taiwan to mind, there were others I thought had current application.

8. What appears fake may be real, what appears real may be fake.

12. A jade can be smashed, but its white cannot be altered. A bamboo can be incinerated, but its culm nodes cannot be destroyed.

13. Setting aflame the beanstalks to cook the beans,
the beans cry out to the beanstalks from within the cauldron:
"We are originally born of the same root,
why are you in such a hurry to cook and torture us?"

17. Attack if you can attack, defend if you can't attack, flee if you can't defend, surrender if you can't flee, die if you can't surrender!

Twelve brings genocide to mind. I recall hearing the story behind the poem in 13 from Dr. Gao's program once. The poem composed under the exigency of sudden execution reminded me of the ambivalent nature of the relationship between Russia and Ukraine.

Glad you liked it QMS.
