The heats on

open thread_120.jpg

On my way home from the farm. Everything growing just fine. The 4 or 5 inches of hay mulch is holding in the moisture nicely.
Getting up there to water once a week is working out.
I have an automatic watering system going at my home garden, so no worries there.
Will be nice to get home(wifi enabled) and catch up on the latest news.
Yeah, heard about the Trump "incident" on the radio.
Meet the new President, same as the old President.
Thread is open.
Tell me all about it.

Don't know if you should enjoy the wifi or not, but there is good stuff out there if you dodge the news programs.

It is only supposed to get into the seventies today, so I am outside this morning instead of in the garage, though I'm sure I will work on both as well as the 'puter, which is still barfing up effects of our power outage a bit back. I try something I haven't done yet since the crash and pow, grief. Ah well, is leading toward some (hoped for) changes in my processes and such, so I guess all's well.

be well and have a good one

@enhydra lutris
at the farm is local radio news, in a red county.
I listen to it with coffee in the morning and plan my chores for the day.
The wifi allows me to access to my favorite alt sites that I trust as no BS zones.
I get good internet access going down the I-5 corridor.
Going to be 98° here today, so have chores to do at home before it gets too hot.
May go up to Dougan Falls up the Washougal River this afternoon. Will not have any access there either.
Have a good day.

Hi all, Hey E1,

Hope it's all good out there.

We have been in 90's since about mid-May, mostly mid-to-upper end. Just two plus months to go. Garden is mostly cooked, another year, another fail. Glad to hear others doing better.

There are two very cool birds that nest behind waterfalls you might have in that area. The Dipper, aka Water Ouzel in the old days, the only aquatic songbird. Swims and walks on stream bottom foraging underwater, bobs on rocks in stream between. Bright white nicitating membranes (eyelids) might be a communication tool. These do not need a big drop fall, just a few feet. Black Swift is the other, if a taller falls.. It was one of the last three North American birds for its nest to be found, understandably. The rarest and least seen, and least known, swift.

There is hardly a better place to be in the heat than a waterfall!

happy trails all!

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Wishing we had a waterfall locally. I am jealous.
We only planted tomatoes and green peppers, got a really good yield, and they were starting up on round 2, but the storm damaged them, so it is time to abort the project.
It is actually going to be in the high 80s later this week. Strange. That is very cool temps for July.
I took off work early this afternoon to make a grocery store run to replace food items I had lost in the fridge. Freezer stuff was saved by bringing up a spare freezer to the office. That saved $1,000 worth of meat. Store shelves were low on typical condiments we all keep in the fridge. We were not alone.
Thanks for the OT, e1!
