Wild and Crazy Primary Season

Even after the primaries are over, the actual nomination will probably be up for grabs.
Although Biden still has his hat in the ring, it is not likely he will run in November.
His cognitive decline has become a worldwide spectacle that cannot be combed over.
Which leaves Harris, the current VP to fill in. But her poll numbers are terrible and she has not generated any street creds in her three years in the VP seat. I don't think she has even broken a tie in the Senate.
The Democrat Party honchos will be ordered to shuffle the deck by the blob.
My prediction will be California Govenor Gavin Newsom steppin' in. He is a product of the Willie Brown machine and a Young Global Leader/WEF minion.
Buttigieg is also a YGL/WEF but has already tried and failed and most Americans just don't like him. And he certainly underwhelmed as Secretary of Transportation.
Trump will probably secure the nomination but will be hounded till the end with lawfare and be disqualified or otherwise mitigated.
Leaving Nikki Haley, another YGL/WEF placemat, as the runner up. No wonder she is staying in the race even after coming in second after "None of the above" candidate.
But we can't forget about Vivek Ramaswamy suspending his campaign and endorsing Trump, probably angling for the VP position, but in play for the gold medal itself should Trump have to bail.
That would be a real twist.
Get your popcorn ready, it's gonna be a free-for-all.
The only certain outcome is the American people will be the losers, again.
Thread is open.

"representative democracy". Have you received your questionnaire yet - the one where prospective candidates to represent you ask about your needs, wishes, priorities, opinions and all that so as to be ready to represent you? Since you reached voting age, how often have you received your questionnaire? How many "town halls" have consisted of a solicitation of such information, or at least included one?

a third party ever having any chance, as witnessed by the capture of the debate process by the unitary/uniparty.
We need an independent candidate debate organization overseeing all political debates.
And that's just a start.
Thanks for stopping by.

Edit for uniparty.

@earthling1 had a chance in 92 -- leading or even with Poppy and Clinton in the pre-convention period, but then shot his campaign in the foot by withdrawing (for a while) over some bizarre claim about the GOP disruption of his daughter's wedding. Even after that fiasco, he came back and got 19% of the PV. Not bad for 3d party.

There is thus hope for RFK Jr's candidacy, though he will always be a long shot, and the MSM will always try to smear him.

Re debates, they are by now mostly overrated, though it's possible a 3d party candidate could pick up additional support with a good showing.

Took control away from The League of Women Voters of the debate spectacle they have prevented 3rd party candidates from ever getting on the same stage as the Repub/Demo puppets. And it's only gone down hill since.

@earthling1 The Uniparty's Comm'n on Presidential Debates allowed Pérot on the debate stage in the 3 debates of 1992. He was polling so high that he couldn't be denied. I understand today the threshold is 15% national support, via 5 separate polls, to get a debate invite from the CPD.

about the latest proposed "aid packages" for the ukies, israelis and taiwanese. These are NOT aid packages, they are militarization packages; armaments, money for the war machines, and, specifically for the ukies, money to keep the gubmint running in order that it may continue warring. These need to be consistently identified as warfare packages, and not aid.

One thing that might possibly happen is that Kamala Harris might insist upon running, and the power structure might let her do it. Either way, the final decision will be made at the convention, at which point it might be too late to create an actual campaign.

@Cassiodorus scenario where Kamala tosses her hat in, the DNC and Ds everywhere should welcome it, as she has zero constituency among the grassroots or the leadership/insider level and would simply garner zero support (outside of her immediate family) and thereby solve the delicate dilemma of how to get rid of the first female POC in that office. If she has somehow developed any keen political sense in the past 3 yrs, she would know not to embarrass herself with a presidential run.

Re Newsom, much talked about the past year as a good Plan B to replace Joe, Ds shouldn't be too complacent about his general election chances against either DJT or Haley. Gov Whitmer would have broader appeal and fewer (mostly state-based) negatives to account for.

I still think things are developing (slowly) for the DNC to ultimately replace Joe at or before the convention. They have 6 more months to chip away at the Biden As Inevitable Nominee edifice. The chipping has already started with some party insiders/influencers like James Carville, Al Hunt, David Axelrod, and Bill Kristol, and pro-Biden Never Trumper Rs like Charlie Sykes.

It would be almost politically suicidal for the DNC to stubbornly insist on a sure loser like Biden to be the nominee. He was only supposed to be a caretaker, temp president, slated to step aside after one term. The smart move would be to ease him aside if necessary, by the time of the August Dem convo, and get Whitmer in there.

Released and Declassified -

In 1944, the US Office of Strategic Services—now the CIA—published the "Simple Sabotage Field Manual,"

and it is now out there for all to d/l and peruse. It is much more than what the article headline calls it "This is the CIA's official guide to sabotaging business meetings" -- https://boingboing.net/2024/02/12/how-to-disrupt-meetings-the-cia-way.html

The article does quote the following which makes one wonder just how managers were sekret saboteurs:

Insist on doing everything through "channels." Never permit short-cuts to be taken in order to expedite decisions.
Make "speeches." Talk as frequently as possible and at great length. Illustrate your "points" by long anecdotes and accounts of personal experiences.
When possible, refer all matters to committees, for "further study and consideration." Attempt to make the committee as large as possible — never less than five.
Bring up irrelevant issues as frequently as possible.
Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions.
Refer back to matters decided upon at the last meeting and attempt to re-open the question of the advisability of that decision.
Advocate "caution." Be "reasonable" and urge your fellow-conferees to be "reasonable"and avoid haste which might result in embarrassments or difficulties later on.

The link in the article is bad (Sabotage??) but I extracted one which works:https://www.cia.gov/static/5c875f3ec660e092cf893f60b4a288df/SimpleSabota...? (include the ?) Since it is a pdf, one can easily save it to one's hard drive or removeable media for readins at one's leisure. Perhaps one could print it and use the product to conjure up the spirit of Edward Abbey.

But, better yet, everybody should be free to say whatever they want about elections and candidates, no matter whose ox is gored.

by text message that my primary ballot had been mailed to me.

Really? Why are you assholes even bothering with a “primary”? Total waste of time and money.

I’ll fill it out with a Hershey bar and send it back in. And since the upcoming general is once again The Most Important Election In Our Lifetime (again), again, I’ll probably just send the ballot back blank. The illusion of choice is long gone, for this reporter.

Why anyone still thinks that the process has any value whatsoever *completely* eludes me. I’d describe the whole process as an utter crock of shit, but I don’t want to offend any actual crocks- or any actual shit, for that matter. Faugh.

hot race is the one to replace DiFi in the senate. I'll likely send in my ballot just for that one, and to do my small part to keep one annoyingly sanctimonious "family values guy" Steve Garvey, former LA Dodger and SD Padre baseball player, out of the senate.

Garvey involves not your usual old-fashioned traditional family values of course, but those new-fashioned Republican family values -- 3 kids fathered out of wedlock, in addition to the 5 kids via the more traditional, socially acceptable way. Deadbeat Steve has also had more than his fair share of financial values problems over the years -- failure to pay the right court-ordered amount of child support on one GOP Values kid and many legal filings by various creditors for misc deadbeatery. All while somehow living an upscale life of luxury homes, fancy cars, and foreign travels.

As for the others, I'm leaning Katie Porter for her overall feistiness and support of an age limit for presidents, which Biden has shown is badly needed. I'm in no way leaning for Maryland resident Schiff, who is a nutcase on Russia and foreign entanglements.
