Publishing in Politico doesn't make you NSDAP
But it sure helps. From Politico:
Fighting against the USSR didn’t necessarily make you a Nazi
Primary argument:
This history is complicated because fighting against the USSR at the time didn’t necessarily make you a Nazi, just someone who had an excruciating choice over which of these two terror regimes to resist.
Let me put it this way. The Nazi plan for Ukraine, overseen by Heinrich Himmler, was to kill off the vast majority of the locals and send the rest to labor camps while Ukraine became the new German homeland. If you were "fighting against the USSR at the time," you were hoping to be granted the status of honorary German (in order to, you know, survive), and therefore you were either a Nazi or you were working with them. No amount of "but the Soviet Union was bad too" is going to change historical fact.
Oh but it's so complicated! Meanwhile, as Alex Christoforou tells us, the history of Ukraine is extremely simple for the collective West. Russia invaded, and Ukraine must resist. Don't worry about the extraordinary amount of forgetting it takes to arrive at such a conclusion. We must prop up Justin Trudeau at all costs!
Or, of course, there's the explanation we get from Matt Taibbi:
The Politico Europe editor approving it was either high on glue, or finally decided yesterday to come to work in his secret Schutzstaffel uniform. No other explanation fits.
Okay? Okay.

Was actively engaging in genocide part of the choice?
Did the Lithuanian cops chose Hitler while actively and volunteering engaging in mass genocide as a viable choice?
Total B.S!

That’s all I’m going to read of this whitewash of Nazi crimes. Russia wasn’t a terrorist regime for gawd’s sake. They were fighting against the German Nazi regime that invaded their country and then they moved on to exterminate them in other countries. The fact that Poland of all countries is helping Ukraine defeat Russia for finally protecting the people in the Donbas from another Nazi regime is beyond belief! I will be posting a great article in the blues that I hope people will read.
Political is just another worthless rag that has sold out its principles.

On the Russia
matter, Poland is complicated. They well remember how Russia invaded from the east and took the eastern half of the country just a few weeks after Germany had invaded from the west on Sept 1, 1939. Per wiki, these events came just days after the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact had been signed in August, which supposedly had a clause agreeing to an equal partition of countries in central and Eastern Europe.
The kicker is, Poland had just been put back on the map
following World War I. There hadn't even been a Poland, as an independent state, since 1795.

Damn, what a great speech Cornel West gave
...
"You can’t have a movement unless you have tenderness and kindness in your solidarity, even if you have deep disagreements, and for some of us we just want to make it soulful."
Great way
to grow a peace movement. Let's hold a rally on a Tuesday and only invite our fellow lefties who are pure enough so we can talk in a small group in peace and harmony. Great idea.
You underestimate the success of Team Biden
Success, that is, in getting "the left" to be pro-war, so that said "left" can cheer them on as they throw ever more pointless sums of money and weaponry into the Ukraine scam. Perhaps the meeting is organized in this way to stave off despair and to plan for something a little more adventurous in some imagined future.

A little too
easy and misleading to blame Grandpa Joe entirely for the demise of the antiwar Left. We need only go back a few more yrs to Obama who kept or recycled the various neocons and R2P liberal hawks who have done so much to keep the country on a war footing, while the former antiwar Left was too afraid to challenge the popular first-time ever black president as he undertook Libya, the 2014 Maidan Coup, and maintained adversarial relations w Russia.
As to the meeting last night, or what was advertised as a rally, I'm sure Medea Benjamin and Lee Camp enjoyed another opportunity to virtue signal as CW once again preached another sermon to the choir.
Sure, we can blame Obama for that.
Cornel West does, and it caught the attention of Rising:
A minor footnote to all of that is that the primary exponent of Obama warmongering was Hillary Clinton Obama's fist-term Secretary of State. At least with Clinton there were "progressives" who found the wherewithal to oppose her.
The "progressive" cheerleading behind Team Biden is of a historic nature. The ambitiousness of the Team Biden foreign policy project, the sheer number of the lies upon which this project is based, and the complete inadequacy of the resources Team Biden has on hand to deal with the project's outcomes make it historically transformative.
The conscious world sees the "progressive" cop-out in endorsing Team Biden and its project, all the way down to the Canadian Parliament's cheering on an old Nazi, and is frightened to an extent never seen before. Here's Simplicius the Thinker, laying out outcomes for us:

thinks it is using the other. Isn't there a saying about when you dance with the devil... This cannot end well.
Thank you, Cassiodorus, for this thread. I rarely read politico, Voice of the Washington Consensus of the month.
I recall Stalin in WWII not attending meetings with Churchill and Roosevelt because the German invasion required his presence in Russia. Zelensky seems to spend as much time out of his country as in it.

Hmm 2 different community notes for the same tweet? This is what I wanted to embed.
Just weird that it did it again.
