I figured I better do this.

Some of you may have seen some of my recent posts regarding my vision of our near future as a species and a planet.
I'm addressing those people specifically here. I want you to know that YES, I have spoken with mental health professionals before. So far the worst they've labeled me was depressed a couple times over the years, when I was depressed. Like during my divorce.

CT is a reality in our world. I don't believe most CT AT ALL, not even a little bit. I mean, JFK is dead and so is Elvis.
I do however believe that looking to the future, be it through Science fiction or as a Futurist or just as a forward thinker is admirable and necessary, not laughable.
I have long been concerned about a confluence of events on our planet. And what they mean for our species. A quick extinction and evolution or what? We keep muddling along?
I don't know but I wonder.
Will the advances in medical science and catastrophic climate change lead to a controlled evolutionary spurt accompanied by a massive genetic bottleneck?

Anyway, no, I'm not actually crazy, honestly, it's more that I always worried a lot I guess.
One more thing, NO Hillary is not a reptilian alien, no matter how much fun it is to image it so.
Thanks
I'm really not nuts.
Seriously.

were nuts... We have twin run away trains coming at us...Climate Change and Peak just-about-everything (oil, water, other in ground energy resources, fertile land, etc...). One would have to be nuts to NOT be worried about this...

That was seriously funny, 'cause I'm pretty sure I've said that before.
If you're crazy, then I'm crazy. Take that as you will.

I'm supposed to be on anti-depression meds but I can't afford 'em so I lay awake at night worrying about everything that's happened and everything that's going to happen and a whole lot of sh*t that MIGHT happen. And it doesn't help if you have a rather 'interesting' family like I do. Lately they've been keeping my mind off nuclear holocaust and the like. I'm not sure which is worse. (You'd have to meet the family to know what I mean.)

Truth is, there is so much to worry about that I think we're being overwhelmed. All of us. We have information coming at us from every angle. And a lot of what's happening to so many is not good. But all you can do is try to fight back if for no other reason than your own self-respect. And you have to find a way to let off the stress. Is that what your writing does for you?

Next time just say you're writing a draft for a novel and ask "what do you think?"

I'm tired of this back-slapping "Isn't humanity neat?" bullshit. We're a virus with shoes, okay? That's all we are. - Bill Hicks

Politics is the entertainment branch of industry. - Frank Zappa

The input we deal with each day is off the chart compared to say 50 years ago. Our brains are getting stretched or something.

I recall a Doctor told me I was depressed. I laughed of course and replied 'Depressed? Of course I'm depressed, look at the world I live in, why aren't you depressed?'. Awareness is a curse.

BUT
A wise friend long ago questioned my pessimism. He said 'Don't worry so much, the plight of the common man has steadily
improved with time and has followed a long moral arc to greater freedom and justice'.
It must be a long low arc, but overall he was pretty much right I think.
That comforts me some times.

Because, if not, then you haven't been prescribed antibiotics for a virus, statins because you can't be bothered to alter your diet, anti-depressants because you just had a baby and lack of sleep has made you bitchy, and on and on and on.

Sorry, couldn't resist. The woman actually has my daughter convinced she's bi-polar (she is I suppose sorta, but cyclically, once/month, and like me was already professionally diagnosed as having PMDD [PMS on meth and steroids and every other hype you up to the point of rage or bring you down so low you can't get out of bed for a week drug/substance]) that all goes away the moment menses begins. But hey, take a bunch of pills because grandma demands it. Ugh.

You're fine, and rightly concerned about the planet we leave for our posterity!

My ex wife placed my son on ADHD drugs. I couldn't stop her. Turns out the drug(s) had long term health side effects that my son is dealing with. It's a situation were my anger at, and compassion for, my ex, are at battle.

Building a positive future image of yourself (and the world) is paramount to getting there. You've got to have the dream in order to arrive.

Who is crazy in this crazy world? All of us? Practice kindness. Dream big.

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

I do like CTs but because I'm suspicious of most things, I'm also suspicious of CTs so only take them so far. Regarding the matter of an impending societal collapse or human extinction, an image from Libya springs to mind. The moment the Gaddafi regime collapsed, Libyan TV was broadcasting a cooking show and in a split second, the presenter dropped the spoon and ran off, then the lights went out for good, all within a matter of seconds. In other words, until the chaotic reality burst through, the facade was completely controlled.
