RFK Jr. poll ratings up

Omigod that's "dangerous"! So what do our mass media do? I know! Let's cherry-pick some news reports to try to make it look as if it's ONLY the Right who wants Democratic Party debates. Never mind that it's 79% of BIDEN VOTERS who want to see debates, something Biden sycophant Bobby Lewis fails to mention.

And, as Krystal Ball points out, RFK Jr. is not a "spoiler":

Oooh but Joe is an "incumbent." Protecting the incumbent, you see, is why the likes of Bobby Lewis must characterize any challenge to Biden's coronation as the Democratic Party nominee as "right wing." Never mind that Joe is currently running a foreign policy that is to the right of Henry Kissinger. And Joe's domestic policy involves sitting back and watching as Medicare and Medicaid are further privatized into monopoly hands. Of course RFK Jr. and Williamson are both running far to the left of Biden. Here's RFK Jr.:

“I don’t want Wall Street running the country. I don’t want the neocons running our foreign policy. I don’t like censorship. I think I’m skeptical about war,” Kennedy continued, adding that he believes the United States should look to “settle” the war between Russia and Ukraine.

And Williamson?

"I feel my forty years being up close and personal with the trauma of so many thousands of individuals gives me a unique perspective on what is needed to help repair America," Williamson wrote. "We need a politics that treats not just symptoms, but cause. That does not base itself on the crass imperatives of endless corporate profit, but on the eternal imperatives of our principles and values."

Here it must be added that Time Magazine (online) is running an article titled "How RFK Jr. Could Lose Badly But Still Throw Biden Off His Game." One marvels at the hubris of media sycophants who know far in advance of any primary how they're all going to turn out. Also, Biden has a game? You'd think if he actually had a game he'd cater to that 79% of his voters who want debates. More likely is that he will be like that imagined Leader in Woody Allen's old movie Sleeper, who is in fact dead but who is still the titular head of state because everyone in power still pretends he's alive.

Meanwhile we can sit back and munch on popcorn as the criminal investigation proceeds.

This is an understatement.

You'd think this would be stone-dead after what happened in 2016.

Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!

if nothing else it might nudge Biden slightly L on economic issues. I'll bet he gains percentages just because people want someone other than Biden on the D ticket.

@ban nock

'cause he'll renege on anything he might say. There is no way to hold him to any positions he might take in the primaries.

And boy if that ain’t true in our American oligarchy.

Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. They are there to give you the illusion of choice. You have no choice: You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control all the corporations. They have long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.

in his reference to the example of 1980 and debates during the Dem primaries. Carter refused to debate Ted Kennedy so there were no debates.

@wokkamile I'm sure he'd respond. Of course, 1980 was example of a neoliberal Dem who was challenged from the slightly-left and who lost to the Right. 2024 will probably repeat that.

The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.

@Cassiodorus I would call up the reporters personally, using my real name, which seemed to help as 95% of the time I quickly got the reporters (paper, radio or tv) on the line.

Can't expect Saager to never be wrong of course, but presumably with the fair to good resources of that show someone in house could spend 5 minutes googling some recent political history if they know Saager is going to spend 5 minutes basing an argument on faulty facts. And of course Krystal just sat there and said nothing. I think that's how they have gotten along for so long -- avoid correcting each other's mistakes.

19% is the last I heard. I expected 2%.

I half hope Biden loses and that I can meet Jim Clyburn and tell him "you can't win them all".
