4/17 - World Hemophilia Day

~~ Blood

World Hemophilia Day comes to us courtesy of the WFH. Per da wiki:

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with hemophilia (also spelled haemophilia) and other genetic bleeding disorders. It educates people with bleeding disorders and lobbies for improved medical treatment. 75% of people in the world with bleeding disorders do not know it and do not receive care.

That sad fact is not because they all live in the US, we are not the only country without any healthcare system in place, and there are places with healthcare that still have deficiencies with respect to specific somewhat rare conditions.

It's also Malbec World Day. Per da Wiki: Malbec World Day is an annual observance celebrated on April 17, to commemorate the day on which President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento of Argentina officially made it his mission to transform Argentina's wine industry. On April 17, 1853, Sarmiento tasked Michel Aimé Pouget, a French soil expert, to bring new vines to Argentina. Among the varietals Pouget brought was Malbec. Pouget continued experimenting with the adaptation of French varietals to Argentina's diverse terroirs. ... The name "Malbec World Day" translates from the Spanish "Día Mundial del Malbec," meaning "Malbec throughout the world". The name stuck and continues to confuse English speakers to this day, as most refer to it "World Malbec Day" or "Malbec Mondo" for those who like the alliteration. ...

In the following years, specifically during the 1990s, Argentina positioned Malbec as their star varietal. More than 10,000 acres were planted and it became the undeniable leader of the country's exportations. ...

On 4/17/1961, the US government directed and financed invasion of Cuba known as The Bay of Pigs took place Planned during Ike's Presidency, the attack used a "Brigade" consisting mostly of Cuban exiles and some US military personnel. It was preceded by an attack on Cuban airfields by eight CIA US government supplied B-26 bombers. When the invasion began to falter AND come to the attention of the rest of the world, President JFK withheld further US air support. Because the original Eisenhower government plan relied on both US air and US naval forces in order to succeed, the invasion failed.

Initially the US, naturally, lied about the attack and said that there was no US involvement. Later it admitted that there was, but couched it in terms of CIA involvement and a CIA opereation. This standard US deflection is pure garbage. The CIA is not some foreign guerrila group, NGO, or corporation, but a part of the US government. We need to tell ourselves the truth about the US and its actions and activities and not pretend that it is some evil twin doing them. The Enola Gay did not nuke Hiroshima, the US did, and the Enola Gay was but the instrument. The exile Brigade 2506 did not attack Cuba, and neither did the CIA. The US did, the CIA was the instrument used to fund, train, arm and direct Brigade 2506 which was itself both instrument and proxy.

The US Government needs to step up and own all of the various crimes and criminality of the CIA and we the people need to admit them to ourselves. It's actually easy to do - watch:

"The CIA US Government conspired with supporters of Reza Pahlave to overthrow the elected government of Mossadegh and install the brutal authoritarian dictatorship of Shah Reza Pahlavi>"

"The CIA US Government covertly airlifted supplies to the French during the battle of Dien Bien Phu."

" The CIA US Government planned, organized, funded and directed the abortive invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs."

"Notorious terrorist Luis Posada Carriles was a CIA US Government Agent"

Try it yourself; here's a passage on the US overthrow of Guatemala's government in 1954 from Wikipedia, simply replace every instance of "CIA" with "US Government" -

On June 18, 1954, Carlos Castillo Armas led 480 CIA-trained men across the border from Honduras into Guatemala. The weapons had also come from the CIA.[95] The CIA also mounted a psychological campaign to convince the Guatemalan people and government that Armas' victory was a fait accompli, the largest part of which was a radio broadcast entitled "The Voice of Liberation" which announced that Guatemalan exiles led by Castillo Armas were shortly about to liberate the country.[95] On June 25, a CIA plane bombed Guatemala City, destroying the government's main oil reserves. Árbenz ordered the army to distribute weapons to local peasants and workers.[96] The army refused, forcing Jacobo Árbenz's resignation on June 27, 1954. Árbenz handed over power to Colonel Carlos Enrique Diaz.[96] The CIA then orchestrated a series of power transfers that ended with the confirmation of Castillo Armas as president in July 1954.[96] Armas was the first in a series of military dictators that would rule the country, leading to the brutal Guatemalan Civil War from 1960 to 1996, which some 200,000 people were killed, mostly by the U.S.-backed military.

Some like to argue that the US Government is not always in control of the CIA, but since they are only one real entity, that implies that the CIA is, at least in those cases, in charge of the US Government. This is not as it should be, and a means needs to be found to return control of the US government to the bankers, corporations and other oligarchs who normally run it.

I like the idea of Malbec day, and even have a bottle on hand.

As to the mafia branch of our government, seems anyone who challenges them ends up dead. I used to think we could defund them, but no...they have drug, gun, and sex slave sales to fund themselves under the table. They are really like the mafia (where they initially got much of their training).

As to hemophilia, I'm lucky to clot well and quickly. I'm sure it would be a challenge to have to deal with the condition.

Thanks for all the music and the OT!

@Lookout

fine here too, though not our top choice of the Bordeaux varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The two Cabs are our top two overall, and then we skip to non-Bordeaux wines like zin. It is, however, all situational, season, temperature, with or without food, what food, etc. and the quality of the wine in the first place.

I too think that we're stuck with the CIA, especially since it seems to be closely coupled with the military and MIC. But, we US persons need to admit to uorselves and the world exactly what, as a result, our nation does and is and quit pretending that the CIA's constant criminality isn't on us, it is, it is part and parcel of what the US government is and does.

I'm not Haemophiliac, but long courses of prednisone over the years have left me with very little sub-cutaneous fat (it somehow burns that off) meaning that I bruise, puncture and bleed easily, but I still clot nomrally.

A DM is a private mode of communication between social media users. When you send a direct message, only you and the recipient can see the content.

How the CIA has Infiltrated Social Media Companies, with Alan MacLeod

It is a story that is straight out of a dystopian science fiction novel. Big social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Google, have gone on a hiring spree, recruiting dozens of CIA officers to run their most important, politically sensitive departments – and almost no one is talking about it.

Plus this is from 2019.

In March, 2019, Jack Dorsey and Vijaya Gadde hedged on the Twitter DM Access Question. In April, 2023, Elon Musk gives a straight answer.

The European Commission has rejected bans introduced by Poland and Hungary on Ukrainian grain imports.

The two countries said the measures were necessary to protect their farming sectors from cheap imports.

The ban applies to grains, dairy products, sugar, fruit, vegetables and meats and will be in force until the end of June.

The Commission said it was not up to individual member states to make trade policy.

While the Commission has said that unilateral moves will not be tolerated, it has not yet specified what measures it would take against Poland and Hungary.

"In such challenging times, it is crucial to coordinate and align all decisions within the EU," its spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday.

As a result.

I bleed like a stuck pig. And bruise easily.
I use the bruises strategically.
As an example: I want husband to cook dinner. He is thinking about it. I will tell him that I will show the bruises to the sheriff. The Sheriff will strongly suspect husband is a brute, will not be able to tell that the bruises are from me washing dishes, reaching to get a fork, brushing my hand against a pot handle. (Or reaching into the fridge for a beer inside an open carton, hand brushes up against the carton edge, bruises instantly ensue.)
30 yrs. of prednisone will do that, but at least I am not dead.
The US government created the CIA. It is a government agency, performs acts for the government. It can also be said that the CIA just may have enough information on government officials that scare them into submission to the CIA's activities.
They have more wherewithal for a coup than the military.
Cheers!

Throw in nickel mining, lithium mining, copper, bauxite, rare earths...
Covering swaths of the planet in solar panels.
Planned obsolescence on steroids - forcing people out of internal combustion cars, gas or wood stoves and confining them in '15 Minute' enclaves.
Enforced by AI/5G surveillance.
Underwritten by bazillions in public money for corporations.
Relentlessly pushed by slick propaganda and "The Science".

But hey, it's all for the glorious future, right? No sacrifice too great.
Not that the .1% will be sacrificing their private islands, super yachts, jets, grass-fed beef...
