Hi all, hope it's all good!

GREAT pics SP! Wonderful coast down there. Awesome Oystercatcher pic. They are a cool bird. Sometimes they get a rare stray American Oystercatcher on socal coast (1-2 usually somewhere) with the white belly and wingstripe. The 'Eastern' type, but these that show in socal are a west Mexican subspecies. I remember about 1980 a Black Oystercatcher on Pt. Loma got people to chase it to see it. They were a report-worthy rare bird then. Now they nest on the LA Harbor breakwater!

Not sure on what species those cranes are... Wink

I have work to do so gotta fly, but here is a quick Cedar Waxwing, in my low-res way.

I really like the coloring on the American Oystercatcher. I'd love to see one here.
Nice shot of the Cedar Waxwings. I've never seen them on the ground before.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

@Socialprogressive They were drinking at a rain puddle. Puddles are good place to hang for bird shots. When they start coming in, they will all quickly go while 'all clear'. Behindish a nearby tree trunk works good. Getting low is much better so not so looking down on subject.

and grouping of sea lions doing yoga is great! Also, nice to see the Pacific again. Always

@QMS
I like La Jolla. I try to get there at least once a year during the winter when the Brown Pelicans are in breeding colors.
Killer shot of the surfers.

You are so lucky to live so close to the ocean. Maybe Sam and I should schedule a visit with you and I can fix my craving. Love the pelicans and what is the plant that made the arch?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg
There are four beaches in San Diego county where you can let your dog run around off leash. I bet Sam would love every one of them. I had to look up the plant. It's an Elephants Trunk, a member of the Agave family.

Especially your flock of Cranes and basking Sea Lion poses.

It seems like ages since I saw the last crescent moon. Yet, when I checked the date, it was only 10 days ago. How relative and disorienting time can feel at times. Thankfully, it seems like the axis is finding equilibrium again. An added treat today was hearing the joyful sounds of children playing outside again, and the first chorus of summer cicadas who are way late in making an appearance.

Be well all and enjoy the weekend.

It is a wonder how the same moon can rise and set in opposite directions.

@QMS

It referenced the Queen Charlotte Islands, which is also the name of a track here on the South Island that has always looked to me as the most appealing track to walk, though I've never walked it. There’s always been a strong connection between Vancouver and NZ, with many people exchanging places, either permanently or temporarily.

The most obvious connection for me was visible in the quality of light that I first saw 4 years ago on a road trip with my sister on Vancouver Island. More than a colonial connection there is also nature.

@dystopian

Today was dry with a breeze which helped in terms of comfort and some natural drying of the surface. It's raining again at the moment and seems like it will continue on and off through the night, though not threatening.

Cheers
