Open Thread WE 30 NOV 22 ~ bugging the ruling class
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Hola C99. Welcome to another midweek ponderance of some things thought worthy!
This thread was inspired by a poem written by a political prisoner in the book I'm reading
entitled Doing Time: 25 years of prison writing. It is a grouping of literature penned by convicts sponsored by the organization PEN published in 1999.
The particular referenced poem was written by Judith Clark titled To Vladimir Mayakowski while serving time for the crime of political expression in Bedford Hills
Correctional Facility in New York, 1993. Which, in turn, shifted my thinking to the question:
what is it that the 'ruling class' fears most about their crumbling underpinnings?
A partial list, in no particular order, are some of the foci of said mental gymnastics ..
loss of control
The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.

Vladimir Mayakovsky (1892-1930), a Russian poet and dramatist, was considered the
"premier voice" of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.
What do you see as a wrench in the machinery that best puts the elites' panties in a bunch?
Perhaps that is one way to fight repression? Open for comments, related or otherwise.
Thinking for yourself...
...is a sin for TPTB.
An obedient and subservient population is the goal. Questions not allowed. Were are in a 1984 world.
Are you ready for two minutes of hate? Russia, Russia, Russia!
Thanks for the OT!
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Ha! 2 minutes of hate is a good description
for the 'top of the hour news headlines', popular on radio networks like the BBC.
Used to listen to it during my commute to work in Singapore.
Propaganda descriptions of extreme psychological distortions.
Always delivered in that crisp, efficient brit clip.
I surmise your reaction to the free thinking restrictions would be
to think freely? Therefore pissing-off the rulers! There are probably
laws against that somewhere. Subversive thinking, enemies of the
state, national security, bla bla bla.
The twits are now positioning to become the thought police.
Thanks for chiming in and continued free thinking!

The first 20 seconds shows the deleted part."
Edited to add the following:
wonder why Ursula makes no mention
of the 'crimes of aggression' by Ukraine against their own territories for the last 10 years?
Maybe because the EU funded that act? Why is that acceptable aggression? Oh, and it
is OK to freeze, sanction and steal Russian property, because they have to pay
reparations for Ukraine's inability to uphold the Minsk agreement. Makes perfect
non-sense. Maybe she thinks we weren't paying attention.
Good list, QMS
I'll add: Losing money.
Thanks for the OT.
After six years, still getting robo-calls from Marriot Hotels.
They're like herpes.
indeed, that would be a pet peeve
although the super rich do not seem to blink if a few million
goes by the wayside. They just hire a new accountant.
thanks for your support!

Holding up blank sheets of paper.
yeah, uh, can't quite grock the white sheet thing
but most of the wrenches I use are avoiding consumerism, working independent,
questioning authority and disobeying signs - for what it's worth. They already
robbed me of a decent retirement, but am too honest to steal from folks of our
class. Will take the zillionaires bucks without them being any wiser.
I screw with them
by making it obvious I do not consider them superior to me or anyone else. Laugh at them, ignore them, turn down invitations to hear them speak, and so on. The more obvious our indifference and disdain of TPTB is shown to be, the better off we are.
I think your list is great!
