It would be so convenient if Bernie would just go away, wouldn't it?

Think of all the money it would save on national campaign donations. No more bitter infighting. “Unity.” The left could go back to being the boogey man in bill o’reilly’s closest. We could move past this weird phase of American politics where Trump is slaying more GOP demons than the Dems have lately. The Modern Democratic party is weak across the land, receding everywhere but the coasts.

If only Bernie would just drop out.

Everything would be easier right? the folks in pennsylvania and california could forgo the waiting in lines. No more Bernie posts in your facebook feed or twitter feed or whatever. He’s not going to win this contest anyway, in which a small percentage of people in about half of the states case a primary vote to decide the next president (because the GOP can’t and won’t win: this election is a gimme). This is our chance to differentiate the Dems from the GOP in a once-in-a-generational way. Not just in talking points or co-opting speeches, but in deed and spirit.

Or Bernie could just go away. If only he would just go away. It would be so convenient. Do you know how many donors who wrote $100,000 checks are behind closed doors screaming on the phone angrily at someone on the other end of the line, demanding to know what went wrong? Why isn’t this thing over already like it was supposed to be? They did it the way it’s always been done before, and it works. Almost always. But this time it definitely was going to work.

But this Bernie won’t go away. His people don’t seem to want him to go away either. They ….they aren’t going away.

But, what about the fact that the fine print says it’s over? The credit card has been issued. The hidden fees that weren’t discovered until later? they are still in effect. gotta pay for that. keep reminding those folks to “count the delegates’. If you do it enough, they’ll forget that it was less than a quintile of the population deciding the fate of us all. some of them swiped their credit card early, before they even knew what they were voting for.

www.theatlantic.com/...

The sooner we get Bernie to go away, we can go back to business as usual. When is he just going to go away? then it will be convenient for everyone. Eventually his supporters will forget what really happened— people always do. We can go back to the status quo, and forget all this craziness.

When is Bernie going to go away? Since he’s not a real Democrat, the sooner he can go away and take his supporters, money, volunteers, and enthusiasm with him, the better. The Dems don’t need that stuff.

They just need Bernie to go away.

It's being the boogie-man for triangulating, neoliberal "third way" Democrats that has begun to really grind my gears - and more so with each passing year.

I hope Bernie puts the fear o'gawd in 'em all. If he can END "hippie punching" once and for all, he deserves canonization.

Populism is like that. Fair, common sense policies that benefit everyone have a nasty habit of undermining establishment elitism. A policy that benefits 99% of the population, everyone from impoverished POC in Mississippi to middle class suburbanites, in a real and tangible way is much more effective than the incrementalist esoteric policies of an out of touch wonk.

then he's my guy!

Hillary wants to be President of the United States and Bernie Sanders wants to serve the country.

Hillary (like almost every politician) is enamored with the power, prestige, and title of being president. She doesn't want to state her opinions because it's a strategy to winning. She wants everyone to vote for her.

Bernie Sanders wants people to vote for him if they agree with him, so he tells you his stance on issues.

He's not going to "go away," because, Bernie has said it himself. "This grassroots movement needs to continue beyond him and into all areas of government we can vote for officials."

Hillary Clinton is entitled to be the President of the US. It is her turn! True story - my son was a Bernie delegate at the Colorado County convention. He is going to be a state delegate. The Presidency is not the only thing they talk about - basically you can bring up anything that you would like to see as a party plank. Super delegates were being discussed. Naturally, Hillary supporters were completely for super delegates. They gave a lot of bullshit reasons like: to avoid a '1968', add 'experience' to the process, not allow the riff-raff to get carried away, etc. But when push came to shove - the real reason why the Hillary folks wanted super delegates was because they 'didn't want anything to get in the way of electing the first female president!'

Democrats, we tried to warn you. How is that guilt and shame working out?

Worth reading IMHO:

Bernie Is Crashing America's Two-Party System—That’s Why Establishment Democrats Are so Afraid of Him

And of course, Trump is doing his share of damage too! 2016 really could be a turning point.

That between Bernie and trump the political duopoly, well monopoly really, will have its foundation shaken so badly that there will be real change. Not the faux change promised in 2008.
The dinosaurs that are the dnc and rnc won't go down without a fight, and its important that "the good fight" continues well beyond the general election, regardless of who is elected.

the end result of this campaign cycle will be more 'rule changes.'

For instance, the RNC changed its nomination rules after Ron Paul had a good showing his last run--something about a candidate having to carry, or win more states in the primaries--went from several states to 8 states, IIRC. Of course, the RNC plans further 'rules changes' at the upcoming convention to foil Trump.

And, on the Dem side, there were DWS' famous shenanigans with the number of Dem Party Debates (which luckily, were partly mitigated with the addition of more debates).

Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if the Dem Party decides to expand their 'superdelegate' pool numbers, as a safe guard against another Bernie-like insurgency/candidacy (as they would view it, that is).

Regardless, I agree that 'the good fight' needs to continue.

wouldn't surprise me one bit. The superdelegate situation will be something to watch, especially if Bernie is able to pull out wins in NY and CA. The DNC isn't immune from the same unraveling that is occurring within the republican party, I mean, our candidates are a little nicer and less caustic humans, but shutting out half the party so an unpopular witch can run will piss a lot of dems off.

on the rat's nest of corruption in BOTH parties. I think this really bugs the Democratic establishment, that their sprayed-on halos are being flicked off by a guy who isn't going away and is in fact being lifted up by the non-establishment people. Every single voter should be thanking Bernie Sanders for making them take a good honest look at who exactly they're supporting, yet there are legions of fervent Hillary Clinton supporters who would rather pretend that it's a bigger deal that Bernie hasn't released his tax returns than the dodgy as hell money shenanigans of her time as SoS and the Clinton Foundation. Sure, criticize Bernie for it if you must, but COME ON with the verbal gymnastics required to explain away Hillary's crookedness.

Les Leopold dissects the Hillary campaign's latest tactic, which has been described as "Disqualify, defeat, and unify the party later."

Rather than discuss and debate the fundamental premises of the Sanders assault on the billionaire class, Wall Street, runaway inequality and our corrupt campaign finance system, they want to switch the conversation to the details of implementation. It’s as if to say, well, we might agree with your visionary proposals if only you could show us the fine print.

This tactical maneuver has one and only one aim — to undermine the Sanders campaign regardless of how he responds to their demands for more detail.

Why the subterfuge?

The Daily News and Team Hillary have no interest in taking on the established order, because they are part and parcel of it. However, they also are fearful that the American people are rejecting the Team Hillary vision (or lack thereof), and are flocking to Bernie’s. So they pick at details they care nothing about.

When Hillary declared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that Bernie hasn't done his homework, the appropriate question might have been "where is YOUR plan for breaking up the big banks"? But it wasn't asked.

which is millions of people already--are tuning out Hillary and her noise machine, largely because she is just so damned obnoxious and over-the-top in her demeanor to this end. I feel like a lot of people are really starting to wise up quite a bit this primary season. The poll numbers I see coming out of the northeast and the far west are really heartening.

If those numbers are that good, and getting better, it's entirely possible to think that he's got this won. In fact, I'm gonna go out on a yuuuuge limb and predict that the only conceivable way Sanders loses big at this point is if there's ballot count manipulation. I've long suspected that to be happening in this country, long before this season anyway. I believe it started in earnest when the gov't fast-tracked implementation of this "computerized voting" and "optical scan" bullshit with the proprietary source code. They sure don't like the idea of having to do that, but they might take a chance--he's that much of a threat.

If that's actually going on, I hope they get caught, the bastards. I used to think that was "tinfoil hat", until I voted in the primary and they handed me a fookin' ballot that they printed off from their laser jet printer. The ownership will try to do whatever they have to do. Because Bernie is not going away, not now and not evah!!!
