Are we ready?

Only if there are a lot less people around to use it. Oh, wait!

@ggersh not the responsibility of private charities to resolve the homeless veteran problem. I don't have any confidence in the so called public-private partnership when it comes to veterans affairs. When veterans are at such risk for homelessness and other social problems, why does the VA spend so much effort trying to deny veteran's claims for compensation and other benefits?

Why do VA offices try to deny service connection claims that have been established for years and years? Why do they hire contractors instead of using their own employees? The VA has a massive PR program, but basically it's being privatized, shifting money from the targeted beneficiaries to for profit contractors for hire, and charitable organizations, which are another kind of business. There are some exceptions of course, and the VA delivers to veterans often. I'm just against the contractor scam in the health care sector and the attitude of regional offices adjudicating claims.

@soryang has gone in the public/privatized sphere. It's neoliberalism
capitalism at it's worst. It turns everything into shit.

Russia will use nukes in Ukraine only after US/NATO/Ukronazis do. The unasked question in that circumstance is whom or what, exactly, will they nuke should that happen, and the answer to that depends upon exactly whom or what the collective west nuked to get the ball rolling.

Other Matters:
Lack of a "Red Wave" has been explained by various "analysts" and others in various ways. One of the best so far is here, of all places: https://boingboing.net/2022/11/10/msnbcs-stephanie-ruhle-describes-in-on...

In short, DJT is a loser and so is Trumpism, or maybe vice-versa. She almost gets it, but still credits trump with winning an election when she points out that he won only one election. The truth is that he didn't even win that one, the great and widely hated Queen Hillary lost it. the simple truth is that any remotely viable candidate would have won, but she couldn't because she is so fucking toxic.

In Other News:
Also from boing boing, "the pocket report" can be entertaining and informative as the same time : https://boingboing.net/2022/11/11/the-pocket-report-is-a-fun-and-snarky-....
I watched the included video which was good enough to get me to click the very top link, which is actually Tik-toc or however it is spelled where I sample a few of the clips, such as 144, 145. 151 and 152 and found them a pleasantly refreshing change up from the usual fare.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

A partly decentralized and publicly owned electric grid might be able to handle it, IF and only If, we, all of us, restrict energy consumption to what is necessary rather than fun. I know, eat your vegetables. Booooring. Sure, and you know what, there is a word for people who have boring lives. They are called survivors.

It’s not Veterans Day. It’s Armistice Day,” Russell Messner angrily retorted. “Those damn politicians went and changed it to Veterans Day so that they could keep having more wars.”

Armistice Day — the commemoration of the truce that brought the end of WWI — became Veterans Day in 1954 in the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War. The reason, said President Dwight Eisenhower at the time, was to honor veterans of all wars, not just WWI.

Yeah, the war to end all wars didn't work out so well.

As to your questions, my first inclination is no to all three.
As to one, there's simply not enough copper, silver and other necessary materials. And why in the hell aren't we developing a good electric train system which would be doable. Simply not enough profit, me thinks.
As to two, if Russia was to use nukes, I suspect the US or EU would be the target not the puppet regime.
And three, the petrodollar can't be saved period.

PetroDollar is Dying, Iran is officially Using CNY(Chinese Yuan) to Settle it's Oil

This suggests that CNY has begun to play the role of an oil currency instead of the dollar.

According to the latest forecast of Saxo Bank, Asia should transition a large amount of oil trade to CNY. Currently, oil-producing countries, including Iran, Angola, Indonesia and Venezuela, are very happy to settle their transactions in CNY.

A Chinese oil giant has already signed the first agreement to settle Iranian crude oil imports with CNY purchases, and plans to sign more such contracts in the future, further expanding the scope of settlement of CNY crude oil futures.

The analysis further said that China may also begin a pilot program to settle its crude oil imports in CNY on a large scale. This would mean that the U.S. dollar would not be charged a toll, thus facilitating investors who have a need to bypass the petrodollar and hedge against volatility in the price of dollar-priced crude oil futures.

And I bet this deal will be in Yuan

Privately-owned Chinese refiner Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co (ZPC) has signed a purchase deal with Saudi Arabian state oil producer Saudi Aramco 2222.SE for 1.08 million tonnes (7.88 million barrels) of crude oil, government-backed Chinese Zhoushan Daily reported on Monday.

The 5.3 billion yuan ($735 million) deal was sealed at the 5th China International Import Expo in Shanghai over the weekend.

Thanks for the OT!
