Album of the Week - 8-27-22

Afternoon folks!

Well, this week my trip down south derailed my schedule of uploading videos to Youtube, so the pickings are good, but sparse this week.

There's the 1967 album by the Savoy Brown Blues Band, their first. Also there's a compilation double album "Gabe's Dirty Blues" which has some really great tunes on it worth checking out.

Enjoy!

Here 'tis:

truth is considered foreign influence, world peace is a threat to national security

The Houthis and the Saudis have had a cease fire for a couple months, but there is still some fighting going on. However, the Houthis aren't doing the fighting.

Yemeni forces backed by the United Arab Emirates seized control of vital southern oil and gas fields after nearly a week of fierce clashes with their rivals, loyal to the internationally recognized government, officials and tribal leaders said Monday.

The clashes pitted the UAE-backed Giants Brigades and Shabwa Defense Forces on one side and the paramilitary police known as the Special Security Forces on the other.

They erupted earlier this month when Shabwa police and military commanders were sacked over alleged anti-Emirati sentiments and ties to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood group. The internationally recognized government endorsed the move.

The seizure of the oil fields is likely to consolidate the grip of southern, UAE-backed forces who seek to reestablish their own country in Yemen’s southern half. It also could weaken the broader alliance in Yemen that has been fighting against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris One in lowlands now is a migrant. Yeah it could be a more local post-breeding wanderer, but is as likely, a migrant from much further away. August a lot of stuff is on the move big time. It is fall migration for many, maybe most species. I am seeing lots of reports of migrants all across the country. Up north warblers already are showing. Nesting season is over, especially where droughts. It is done here. I have had Rufous Hummers already, which are from at least 800 miles away. Long distance migrants. Oh to be in southern AZ for the second spring of monsoon season. Botteri's and Cassin's Sparrows just wait there all June into July and as soon as the rains start, they initiate nesting cycle. But for most things, it is a big month of movement. September it goes into high gear. Keep yer eyes peeled! Wink
