Perhaps humans can learn from nature?

How animals heal themselves ― and get high
Whether it's using insects to heal wounds or getting high on puffer fish poison, animals know many of nature's secrets to feeling better — and we humans have picked up a few of them.

Will Trudeau’s “Emergencies Act” Stunt Make it Through Parliament or Court?

We will see in a week if the advice Biden gave to Trudeau was sound or senseless....
The Canadian Parliament has to approve the use of the act within seven days of the government invoking the emergency measures. Parliament also has the power to revoke its approval.
...
Furthermore, Trudeau’s “Emergencies Act” may not stand up in court, either.

Any temporary laws made under the act are subject to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That means any attempt by the government to suspend the civil rights of Canadians, even in an emergency, can be challenged in court.

@Lookout I've been looking for what happens in Parliament with the vote on Emergency Measures and could not find anything.

Not surprised that you dug up exactly what we needed to read. Thank you.

Trudeau stormed out of the Parliamentary session yesterday when he did not like the questions posed. The report was that he was recieved very badly, not getting a single clap from the body. Not to mention that it was the 4th time he walked out of Parliament this year.

Perhaps the Parliament will fail to approve the Emergency Orders??? reason to be hopeful.

here, or in public.

Seems there can't even be an Olympics any more - Summer or Winter - without major doping scandals, to say nothing of other forms of flagrant cheating. (It's why I've ignored them for twenty years, until I had the latest scandal shoved up my nose.)

Russia qua Russia (as an official country) has been banned from international competition, including the Olympics, since 2018. But there remains a loophole which has been blatantly exploited, in that individual Russian athletes may compete (and have competed) on a pseudo-individual basis, as part of a "neutral team" (no national flags, no national anthems, no official national uniforms - but everybody knows who they are and where they come from).

You'd think their various sports governing bodies would have jumped to and frantically cleaned up their acts. You'd be wrong. (And you'd be just as wrong if you thought this kind of public slap on the wrist would discourage other countries from going or remaining dirty - they haven't either.)

The current scandal around Kamila Valieva, figure skater, 15 going on 16, is just the tip of a very big, very ugly iceberg. Russia doesn't even have an official testing lab any longer, having been caught red-handed messing around with samples previously, so test samples have to be processed at a lab in Sweden (which is heavily backlogged with COVID tests etc). Samples from athletes scheduled for major upcoming competitions are supposed to be marked as priority - but somehow Valieva's, taken during Russian Nationals, wasn't, and the results didn't come back until she was already in Beijing and had competed in the team figure skating event.

The results showed indications of three substances believed to improve training and endurance, one of which was on the official "banned" list. The other two aren't - at this time - but none are approved for use by very young athletes, and the long-term consequences are unknown.

Valieva was immediately suspended by the Russian anti-doping agency, then the ban was revoked, then the IOC took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where Valieva's team successfully argued that she was a "protected person" because she was underage (seems you have to be 16 to be held responsible for your own actions). She was permitted to continue competing...but the IOC will not hold any medal ceremonies for any event she is or has been involved in in Beijing.

She later claimed publicly that she had "accidentally" taken some of her grandfather's heart medicine (aka "the dog ate my homework"). This was greeted with international derision.

Attention is likely to be focused on her entourage, the facility at which she trains when at home, and especially her coach, who by now has a track record of very young champions who leave the sport physically broken within a couple of years of their greatest successes.

An additional question, to be determined over the summer, will be whether to raise the age at which athletes are allowed to compete internationally, from 15 to 16 or older (and apply it across the board, as there are some sports with even lower age limits).

I’m seeing two different sides to the story. Some wonder why it took so long to be disclosed and another questions the lab that did the testing. Shades of the OPCW debacle. But weren’t the previous Russians accused of doping cleared of those charges? I’m trying to keep an open mind.

pending testing of Valieva's "B" sample, to show if the original result was a false positive or not.

As for previous suspensions for doping, some were cleared, some weren't. Russia as a nation was (and currently is) banned from international competition because of hanky-panky with test samples. However, the "neutral team" loophole was exploited in 2018 ("Olympic Athletes from Russia"), 2020 and 2022 ("Russian Olympic Committee"/"ROC") to allow Russian athletes certified as "clean" to participate.

As of 2020 Russia and its "neutral team" analogues have had 46 medals stripped, almost all of them for doping offenses. (Ukraine and Belarus are tied for second place, with 11 disqualifications each. The US is in fifth place, with a mere 8, one behind Kazakhstan's 9.) To date none of the disqualifications have been in figure skating...but that could change.

Edit: There was one case of a figure skating DQ, in 1964, of the (West) German pairs team of Marika Kilius and Hans-Juergen Baumler, not for doping, but because they had signed a professional skating contract before the 1964 Olympics, which was against the rules at the time. Their silver medals were restored quietly in 1987.

The pressure got to Valieva and she blew her freeskate, coming fourth overall. Teammate Anna Shcherbakova placed first, another teammate, Alexandra Trusova, taking second (with 5 quad jumps but no transitions - which really cost her), and Japan's Kaori Sakamoto slipping in for the bronze.

Drama erupted in the Kiss & Cry afterward, with Trusova screaming about how she hated the sport, would not go back out on the ice, never wanted to skate again, and the event had "ruined her life", etc. At one point she seemed about to let something slip, furiously telling her coach "You knew - you knew everything!" But what exactly she meant, she did not reveal.

Sakamoto was just delighted to have gotten a medal (and, incidentally, broken up the threatened "Russian sweep").

It occurred to me afterward that if Team Tutberidze were as diabolically clever as they were rumored to be, they could have announced that Valieva had "unfortunately just tested positive for COVID" (there have been cases among various contestants) and "had to withdraw for health reasons". No doubt there would have been widespread mutterings of "How ConVEEEENient!", but it would have saved a lot of face.

Remains to be seen what, if anything, the IOC will (be allowed to) do about the tragic farce.

in the medical industry. This appears to be the framework in which pharma
entices MD's to promote their products.

Is it beneficial to the patients? Maybe. Does it financially benefit the providers?
Absolutely. I once watched a doc open up his smart devise to figure out what is
recommended for whatever ailment I had brought to his attention. There is a
program which gives the doc options. Provided by their drug rep (at no charge).

This is, in part, why medical practitioners are being held captive by the drug
industry. My doc's program even had subroutines that would run thru medications
covered by whatever insurance you had. And what the co-pay and deductible would be.
It was not a comparative analysis. Say drug A would be less expensive for the patient
than drug B or C. Not their relative efficacy. It was guiding the prescribing physician
toward whichever brand was being promoted by the software.

They are democrats who once stood up for all the rights and things democrats once did. Like freedom of speech, were against censorship, didn’t trust the intelligence agencies because of their patterns of lying to us about reasons for war fair sentences for crimes and basically the things that most of us here believe in. They were once against our wars for hegemony like they were during Bush/Cheney, but once Obama took over PNAC's goals for the Middle East they got firmly behind him.

When Alex Jones got banned from social media instead of being against it because it’s censorship they instead cheered. They think nothing is wrong with putting Trump supporters in solitary confinement for over a year even though they haven’t been found guilty of anything. They are upset about the probation people are getting for committing an insurrection, treason and sedition even though no one has been charged for it. They are fully behind brutal sanctions that would affect Russian citizens because Putin is a naughty boy. And surprisingly they think that Ukraine should be admitted into NATO and we should definitely go to war with Russia. Oh yeah and every Trump supporter is a white supremists and Nazi. If you want to see that live you can look at orange state and the wreck list. There are lots more examples of people being shitlibs. They are liberals in name only.

@snoopydawg

Your explanation is good. But it begs the question as to what is termed a liberal.
Yada yada used to be, but this is now. Shitlibs, as you call them, somehow grew out of
liberals. And liberals somehow grew out of some fuzzy distinction from conservatives.
So are there shitcons as well? In today's world, labels are used to herd political mindsets
into specific categories. Libs vs. cons. Left vs. right. Progressive vs. traditionalists.
Dems vs. Pubs. They even came up with Red states vs. Blue states. and somehow invented
purple states. Hell, my neighborhood is both. This is divisiveness. We need commonality.
I do not see things quite as binary as all of that. When we use labels to identify a wide
variety of understandings, we are falling into the trap of division. Which is what the
puppet masters want. Perhaps it would be less in the interest of the manipulative class
to lose these labels? Focus on the issues.

Smallpox revisited or Dissolving Illusions.

The manufacturing town of Leicester was subject to the England’s 1840 law requiring immunization, and the 1859 law requiring every child to be vaccinated within 3 months of birth. As refusal to vaccinate was punishable by fines or imprisonment or both, many vaccine refusers agreed to vaccinate. In spite of their high vaccination rates, a 1871-1872 smallpox epidemic occurred, with 3000 cases happening, of which 358 died, leading to growing skepticism of vaccination, and increasing enforcement of the vaccination mandates. In 1869, 2 criminal prosecutions occurred against vaccine refusers, while 1100 occurred in 1881 (a total of 6000 occurred during this period of prosecutions, with 64 imprisonments and 193 seizures of property being enacted against those too poor to pay the fines). In 1884, 5000 court summons had been issued against the unvaccinated, a case load that completely overloaded the court system. Letters in local newspaper at this time revealed widespread disdain for the irrationality of the procedure and the medical profession’s steadfast defense of a dangerous practice that had clearly failed over the last 80 years. Tensions reached a boiling point and on March 23, 1885, a large protest estimated at 80,000 to 100,000 people erupted. It was composed of citizens of all professions from across England and receive support from citizens across Europe who could not attend it. The procession was two miles long, with displays showing the popular sentiments against vaccination present throughout the crowd. The demonstration was successful, and the local government acceded to and acknowledged their demands for liberty.

Many of the description of this protest (and the jubilant mood there) are extremely similar to reports I have read of the Trucker's protest. **The Leicester Model** Mr. Councilor Butcher of Leicester addressed the protest and spoke of the growing opinion that the best way to get rid of smallpox and deadly infectious diseases was to use plenty of water, eat good food, live in light and airy houses, while it was the municipality’s duty to keep the streets clean and the sewers in order. He emphasized that if this was not done, it was unlikely any act of Parliament or vaccination could prevent the diseases.

For 80 years the world had mandatory smallpox jabs and the vaccines didn’t actually prevent people from getting infected, sick or dying. They actually made it so the epidemic got worse and spread. The laws for mandatory jabs were absolute. You must take it or pay large fines or go to prison or both. Finally people said ENOUGH and protested their government and finally won. All this was covered up by those who don’t want we the people questioning their authority. Sound familiar? No wonder history repeats itself. Over and over…

I found this article from this one.

@snoopydawg

**History Repeats in The Present Day**

Once COVID-19 arrived in the USA, it was predicted by the medical field, that similar to previous respiratory diseases, there would be 3 peaks of the epidemic after which it would disappear. For this reason, a rush to develop vaccinations before the epidemic disappeared initiated, leading many (including FDA officials responsible for overseeing safe manufacturing) to suspect serious contamination issues would occur in the immunizations as quality control was sacrificed for speed. From studying the vaccinations, myself and other physicians felt that if the vaccines were distributed on a large scale to the population, they would worsen and prolong the epidemic as they would prevent natural herd immunity from occurring. As there was a high potential for toxicity from the vaccination, it seemed inevitable that progressively more draconian government mandates would be passed to counter widespread public resistance so they could reach the unreachable herd immunity threshold.

Sadly, while the medical profession would have been expected to step up and address these serious concerns, bound by their vested self-interest, critics of the program citing easily available data would be a minority. A few years ago, a prediction like this would have been unthinkable, unless you know the history of immunization. Like the smallpox vaccination campaigns, the COVID-19 immunization campaign has been so egregious it has inspired a large global protest movement with the large scale current protests being very similar to those that occurred 135 years ago. My hope is that this movement can remember the lessons from the past and carry them forward to now so a future generation does not have to repeat our mistakes.

As a final note to draw the historical parallels, after 9/11, as a precaution against future bioterrorism, the military engaged in a smallpox vaccine campaign. After it was discovered the vaccination caused myocarditis in some of the recipients, this program was aborted by the US military. You have my full permission and encouragement to share this with anyone who can get the message out. I did not do the majority of the work to compile this story and I don't want credit for it. I just want the message to get out.

The whole article is worth a read to see what has earlier on in the epidemic. I didn’t know any of this. When people compare the smallpox vaccines to the ones for Covid I just said that it had been studied for over a century before given, but I see now that is incorrect. Live and learn aye?

In warning to U.S., COVID rates soar after Denmark lifts all restrictions

February 16, 2022

At the beginning of February, Denmark became the first major country to lift the last of its COVID-19 restrictions and effectively declare its part in the pandemic over.

Around the world, and especially in the United States, Denmark’s “liberation” from indoor mask mandates, vaccine passports and nightclub closures was heralded as a watershed moment — the shape of things to come. Democratic governors across the U.S. started rescinding their own mask rules a few days later.

“This marks the transition to a new era for all of us, because Denmark will once again be an open society, completely open,” said Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. “We dare to believe that we are now through the critical phase."

Since then, however, Denmark has continued to record more COVID-19 cases per capita than nearly anywhere else in the world, and both COVID hospitalizations and deaths have shot up by about a third.

“Not looking good in Denmark,” Dr. Eric Topol, founder and director of the Scripps Translational Institute, tweeted Sunday, sharing several charts that terminated in near-vertical upward lines. “Deaths are now 67% of peak, with a steep ascent.”

“The world is looking to Denmark as a guide to removing all restrictions,” Topol added in a subsequent tweet, “and it seems that we've seen this movie before.” He then attached a screenshot of a news story headlined “Denmark lifts all coronavirus restrictions and celebrates ‘a whole new era’” — from Sept. 10, 2021.

Topol’s argument was clear: By ending mitigation measures prematurely, Denmark has brought a resurgence of infection, hospitalization and death upon itself — and anyone who follows in the country’s footsteps risks doing the same.

***

Like Denmark before it, the United States is also hurtling toward its own post-Omicron tipping point — the moment that U.S. society, broadly speaking, decides that COVID risks have become more tolerable than COVID rules.

***

The question then becomes: How much risk — how many hospitalizations and deaths — is a society ultimately willing to tolerate in exchange for no more rules?

“Endemicity” — the less disruptive coexistence with a virus that comes after a pandemic — “just identifies a pathogen that’s fixed itself in our population so stubbornly that we cease to be seriously perturbed by it,” the Atlantic’s Katherine Wu has written. “We tolerate it. Even catastrophically prevalent and deadly diseases can be endemic, as long as the crisis they cause feels constant and acceptable to whoever’s thinking to ask.”

The current situation in Denmark offers an early glimpse of how that kind of “endemic” future could unfold. In late January, COVID cases there appeared to crest. But driven by BA.2, a more transmissible subvariant of Omicron, they began to rise again immediately after mitigation measures were lifted, reaching a new all-time high average of 7,970 cases per million residents on Feb. 13 — 13 times the country’s previous peak, recorded in December 2020.

That’s an astronomical amount of virus. In comparison, the U.S. and the U.K. both topped out at around 2,500 cases per million residents at the height of their recent Omicron waves.

.

The mutations will continue all over the world. Be very careful. Vaccinations do not matter, as you know.

even "mild" Omicron having lasting effects. Both my wife and I are still having musculoskeletal and digestive effects, even 6 weeks afterwards. It isn't debilitating, but it definitely makes life (as a not-young person) more challenging than it was only a few weeks ago. We're glad we were able to avoid the earlier variants.

It is certainly worth avoiding, if you can. The question is, "can you"? We have always tried very hard to be diligent in our masking, washing, and avoidance of crowds, and were both triple-jabbed. It just took one person coughing on us in a restaurant to infect us. As my primary physician pointed out to me, "As long as there are assholes, *everybody* is going to get it." And that's a direct quote.

Your mileage certainly will vary. Be careful out there!

...and the tongues flapping in open mouths — what did you think was floating in the air around you? Actually, that's not a rhetorical question. I've wondered how people are able to compartmentalize obvious infectious danger in their minds when they walk into a restaurant. Is it the giddiness of sudden freedom after more than a year of pandemic restraint?

I hope you two feel better very soon. Continue with the D3 and chelated zinc, etc., but double up on the antioxidants right away, especially the quercetin. (Did you happen to lose your sense of smell?) And if you can tolerate Benadryl, some say it offers welcome symptomatic relief. At this time, N95 masks are now available. I recommend laying down a bead of food-grade silicon around the edges and letting it dry. That way, you get a perfect seal. I think it's also a good idea to wear a silk mask over the top so that the N95 remains uncontaminated longer. And you can use it for several days. Two toxic Omicron variants are already migrating to the US. One is so mutated, I think it's going to get a Greek letter of its own.

Don't get it again. Omicron offers little to no immunity. Each layer of infection deepens the physical damage.

victim-blaming there, Sunshine. Your judgement in this case has been noted.

For the folks who wonder why many people avoid discussing this topic here in The Dose: there you go. I'll just compartmentalize myself elsewhere.

Be safe out there.

You are the master of your own fate.

I hoped my words would empower you to better recognize the risks and to protect yourself.

I do believe you will.

According to the article -

Cases: thirteen times the number of cases as previous peak.

Deaths: 67% of previous peak.

Somebody else is welcome to do the math, but that looks like a *dramatically* reduced fatality rate. Plus, the article also says that the medical system is not under severe strain despite the case numbers.

For those without a lot of co-morbidities, I don't quite get what the point of going to great lengths to
avoid Omicron, in particular, are. After all, there is little long-term prospect of avoiding Covid infection altogether and in some form or other it's going to be endemic. With current 'vaccines' neither safe nor effective, naturally-immunity seems like a very good thing to have, and Omicron something like the prospect for natural vaccination.

I suppose the 'best' solution would be something like a 100% survival rate for those infected, who would experience only mild symptoms and gain broad and long-lasting natural immunity.

As usual, the ideal is not an available option - but Omicron (with appropriate therapeutics as needed) does appear to be closer to it than anything we've had so far.

@ggersh

Read the article I linked and watch the video. It’s pretty obvious what with the 'vaccines'. I’m betting that many people have caught on to it. If they are ignoring VAERS and the information from the military it’s obvious to me.

Saying out loud what has been the true belief of the 1% for as long as time itself.
