I'm not kidding myself. Under the radar strikes and Rolling Strikes can do only so much. Unless and until we get wider coverage, our protests will not succeed.

for 1 semester back in 1968. We had to attend chapel 3 times a week, to listen to the miracle of the Prince of Peace, Baptist version. Viet Nam was raging. Students were gathering, planning protests. Word came from on high, any show of protest would get you tossed out of school. No refund.
I got out of there, became part of the anti-war movement at my secular University. It was there that we carried Bibles everywhere, in protest.
Strange, difficult times.
It must never happen again.
*edit: I flunked chapel.

Harvested the last of the cabbage as we're due teens in the AM. Need to finish pruning the fruit trees. Already whittled down on the big fig. Always something.

I was glad when they did away with the draft. Ends up that move installed permanent war using poor kids with no social ladder except the war machine. If college kids were threatened with the draft to fight in Ukraine or where ever my thought is we would be more hesitant to start wars.

Joementia and Blinky are a sad duo of warmongering incompetence. No telling what shit they will stir up. They make a perfect symbolic couple for end of empire.

Wishing us all the best in these strange times. Thanks for the OT!

Peace March. Thousands Oppose Vietnam War, 1967/04/18 2m 50s
https://archive.org/details/1967-04-18_Peace_March

Antiwar demonstrators protest in Central Park, march to UN building, included students and hippies and priests and nuns, burn draft cards, shouted confrontations with anti-antiwar marchers, prowar signs, Martin Luther King leads procession; another march in downtown San Francisco down Market Street to stadium, sponsored by loose coalition of left-wing anti-war groups, "President Johnson meanwhile let it be known that the FBI is closely watching all anti-war activity."- violence in Rome in night demonstration near US embassy, water jets used (partial newsreel)

Even though it's propaganda from Universal ~shrug~ I laughed out loud at the background music and narration. Protest marches aint what they used to be. Oh wait, yes they are! group hug.

I transcribed some of the Ed Herlihy audio, he was funny. "A Voice of Cheer and Cheese".

New York

Although mostly peaceful, shouted confrontations were frequent and fiery during the course of the march. The antiwar marchers were picketed by anti-antiwar marchers who were hawkish toward the parading doves.

anti-anti what now? Everything is a rerun if ya live long enough. sry
letsbombhanoi.jpg
Let's Bomb Hanoi poster (from archive video)
...
San Francisco

A companion demonstration brings out fifty thousand marchers in downtown San Francisco. They parade two miles along Market Street, pacifists and hippies together.

Gigantic Kezar Stadium holds the mass rally, where antiwar songs and speeches figure a short scuffle between pro and con factions. No one was injured.

German students with arms linked run through streets of Berlin. They carry banners and placards. The meeting gathers outside the Opera House in the Kurfurstendamm. They start to march now with their anti-Vietnam war and "Hang Johnson" banners and placards of Ho Chi Minh and the rebel Che Guevara. All scenes are very peaceful for a demonstration that had the sanction of the court.

Uncle Ho, I had his red bible. Smile But I don't read bibles. Anyhow those days were my journey into the wilderness. I came to Berlin in Februaty 1968. Apparently my father thought it was the proper place to be for a rebellious girl. /s

Simple things push us down..

You can't sustain a decent nation with the death penalty.

The savage thoughts that run through our culture. Genocide and slavery are alive and well in us.

Our Society cannot muster an enlightened vision that drives us to create a utopia..

Sometimes events can get up all by themselves and run away with us.

The first Bernie campaign happened like that. People were amazed. There was a bit of that in Occupy. That first anti-war exuberance was just like that.

In none of these cases were we prepared to sustain it.

Someone should write a handbook on what to do next, so we don't drop the ball again. Like, "What to do when political magic is happening. How to keep it going."

What would have been truly discouraging would be had he let Biden spin everything as the worst possible thing, if in fact it wasn't true.

Perhaps its good if Biden is not a very convincing warmonger. Better that people are aware how they operate.

In the following video, about the architecture of survival notice how its mentioned how the Gestapo staged a false flag attack in Poland which was used as a pretext by the Nazis who were itching to invade Poland, this was one of the events which started World War II.

@Pluto's Republic

Do you know why I said the above,(despite having voted "for Bernie" in the Presidential election as well as in the primary, where he was on the ballot in my state.

Or did you believe this particular deception. Note, I support single payer, and public education for all. However, the Bernie campaign was not helpful in bringing these things for a very important reason, which I would like to explain, now, I would like to engage in that discussion now, for a reason, do you know what it is? This is very very important. It will surprise you, I guess. Maybe it wont. Call this an experiment, but its an important one. Everything we know is wrong in some very specific aspects. For example, we may think we are deciding things we are not, that we could not possibly be touching in any way because they were already decided permanently. Officially.

It will help you understand the depth of the problems we all, all humanity, all Americans, all face. And the dishonesty.

Huge efforts have been expended in confusing us. And they have mostly been successful, call it "brainwashing" as that is the word that's commonly used.

at that time. But, I remember this. My little brother, two years younger, was resigned, absolutely certain, that he'd end up in Vietnam. He was about, hmm, 6 in 1970. He saw the stuff on TV, every day, every night, and figured when he was old enough, that war was what he'd be doing.

...from that generation. Before they dumped the draft. It's sickening that a child must think those thoughts. And the images shown in the news were horrific at that time. There was a certain safety in numbers, but there were an extraordinary number of psychological casualties. They had been fucking families up since the civil war up to WWII. But this one was the first one you got to see the carnage in TV.

Of course, I still want all of that gory shit televised. Americans should have their noses rubbed in it because they're paying for all of it on the front end and the back end. We're still paying for that fucked up war.

The gory shit should be televised. All of it, I don't want to see Americans dying but we've GOT to see it, to stop it. To say enough is enough. And every damn generation has to see it. Over and over again Sad
