Friday Night Photos Seaside Edition

Happy Friday everyone. As always, post any photos you like.

The camera club I belong to had it's monthly outing Tuesday morning at La Jolla Cove. This time of year the cove is a great place to photograph Brown Pelicans (many in breeding colors) and other shore birds.

I'm glad you enjoyed a morning at the Seaside. I really enjoy seeing how you've captured the pelicans.
They illustrate the shape and power of the pelican. The shape of the bird from beak to tail looks so well made for powerful flying.

Here's something more delicate, but also powerful in its determination to live forever. In this case it is an indoor plant(Oxalis) that needs almost no attention to survive.

Enjoy the evening all.

Very nice shot. I love the contrasting lighting and colors of the subject and background.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

@janis b Neat photo Janis. Here in the states Oxalis is the genus of Wood-Sorrel, a forb with a nice magenta flower. Oxalis Drummondi. The Yellow Wood-Sorrel is actually a diff. genus. Thanks for the nice pic! Hope all is well!

@dystopian

Oxalis Drummondi is the common outdoor variety here too. It is impossible to remove all the tiny bulbs from the veggie garden. It’s only redeeming factor, as far as I know is that the leaves and flowers are pretty. The one I have as a house plant was cultivated and given to me 15 years ago. It is Oxalis triangularis, and beside the rich colour of the leaves my favourite thing about it is that the leaves look like a butterfly during the day, and transform at night into a moth, when it closes its leaves.

All the best

for reasons of boat bottoms meeting unforgivable shore strata

the shoreline is better appreciated from the land side and winged creatures

thanks for your bird shots!

That's one big wave! Laird Hamilton should have been out there riding it.

something about a pelican can hold more in it's beak than it's belly can ?
I forget the actual wording of it.

The bird in flight images were shot with a long lens from a bluff about 20 ft above sea level.

WTF is that? Spooky it is, but what looks like a toy truck covered in snow under the tree doesn't make any sense to me.

Taken on the local golf course. It's a giant roller for the greens.

coming from a golfing family. It's still so mysterious.

ps. my father painted his golf balls red with my mother's nail polish so he could find them on the snow covered course.

Even in Thinsulate gloves my fingers are too cold to work the controls on my camera!

Its just 16 degrees outside.

I would love to be in warm, sunny La Jolla.
