Pfizer Covid pill ‘can cut hospitalizations and deaths by nearly 90%’

A large study of Pfizer’s experimental antiviral pill, paxlovid, has found that the drug can cut hospitalisations and deaths from Covid by nearly 90%, the company has said.

The US firm’s encouraging results, which are described in a press release but not yet peer-reviewed, suggest oral pills that can be taken at home are poised to take an increasing burden off hospitals that are still overstretched with Covid patients.

AP had a little more information.

On Friday, Pfizer released preliminary results of its study of 775 adults. Patients who received the company’s drug along with another antiviral shortly after showing COVID-19 symptoms had an 89% reduction in their combined rate of hospitalization or death after a month, compared to patients taking a dummy pill. Fewer than 1% of patients taking the drug needed to be hospitalized and no one died. In the comparison group, 7% were hospitalized and there were seven deaths.

“We were hoping that we had something extraordinary, but it’s rare that you see great drugs come through with almost 90% efficacy and 100% protection for death,” said Dr. Mikael Dolsten, Pfizer’s chief scientific officer, in an interview.

Study participants were unvaccinated, with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, and were considered high risk for hospitalization due to health problems like obesity, diabetes or heart disease. Treatment began within three to five days of initial symptoms, and lasted for five days. Patients who received the drug earlier showed slightly better results, underscoring the need for speedy testing and treatment.

Pfizer reported few details on side effects but said rates of problems were similar between the groups at about 20%.

They are not protective for spreading the disease, so why should they be required? They shouldn't. And the stupidity of putting kids at risk to promote pfizers profit breaks my heart. I'm willing to bet there will be moreadverse reactions than serious cases among children. We've lost it...big pharma profit before people.

My opinion an individual reaction to a drug product, negative or positive, does not reflect the effect on a large population recipients. It takes observation, data collection and re-evaluation of data over time to get a clear picture. It is not uncommon for the same data set to be re-evaluated years after an original study to come to slightly different or new conclusions.

If someone has received a vaccine, experienced no adverse reaction - celebrate their health.
If someone has received a vaccine, had an adverse reaction - acknowledge it, treat it and try to understand the biological process to minimize the potential of similar reactions in others. Self imposed ignorance benefits no one and is harmful in regulatory agencies. Safety of repeated booster shots needs to be considered.

I've heard from

@studentofearth a few doctors who are Covid vaccine skeptics that Pfizer won't reveal its raw data collected during its trials until 2025, and Moderna not until the end of 2022. So at this point it's not a matter of re-evaluating data but actually getting the data to evaluate, which is what Good Science is supposed to be about. As one doctor put it, all we have now are promotional statements from the vax makers, not raw data to objectively analyze.

Why haven't TPTB?

Gargling and rinsing (not swallowing, drinking) mouthwash solutions and using nasal sprays or nasal rinses are done to reduce the viral load in the nose and throat which in turn reduce the symptoms and severity of disease. This is likely more important with the Delta variant given it replicates faster and creates higher viral loads. Povidone iodine nose spray/drops should not be used longer than 5 days in pregnancy.

What mouthwash? Any mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) has broad antimicrobial properties and is effective in controlling gingivitis and gingival plaque. Examples of mouthwashes with CPC are Scope™, ACT™, and Crest™.

Nor nasal sprays?

What nasal spray or rinse? Use 1% povidone-iodine commercial nasal spray as per instructions 2-3 x daily. If 1% product is not available, dilute the more widely available 10% solution and apply 4-5 drops to each nostril 4-5x daily for post-exposure prevention and the early symptomatic period.

To make 1% povidone/iodine concentrated solution from 10% povidone/iodine solution, IT MUST BE DILUTED FIRST. One dilution method is as follows:

First pour 1½ tablespoons (25 ml) of 10% povidone/iodine solution into a nasal irrigation bottle of 250 mL
Then fill to top with distilled, sterile or previously boiled water
Tilt head back, apply 4-5 drops to each nostril. Keep tilted for a few minutes, let drain. No more than 5 days in pregnancy.

Dr Marik emphasizes how this simple procedure is the easiest way to slow the progression of the disease in this excellent conversation.

How many lives could have been saved? And still no Vitamin D emphasis. I circle back again and again to this is a pandemic managed for profit.

I bought a simple saline nasal spray bottle,

removed 10% of the saline solution and replaced it with the same quantity of Povidine @10%. A squeeze up each nostril while inhaling delivers a fine mist deeply into the sinus cavities, exactly where viral particles are likely to be found.

Between the 1% Povidine and the mouthwash gargle used whenever I’m out and about, and by maintaining optimal vitamin D3 and C levels I feel like I have a decent prophylactic protection. With Ivermectin in the wings in the event of emergence of symptoms I feel at least, if not more, protected than I would be with vaccines that wane at an alarming rate, also without the concern of the still unknown long term side effects.

No mRNA boosters for me!

Both give me horrible insomnia. I react weirdly to so many drugs, natural and not and I’ve lost lots of money buying them. One natural product raises my heart rate and blood pressure to dangerous levels. I took a 2 month vacation from it yesterday just to see if I could take it in lower dose and nope.

I stopped taking vitamins recently.

@snoopydawg Multi, vitamin D3, and some zinc. I will start taking them on at a time, see if one of them was the problem. We have allergic reactions to foods, so it is not a stretch to find we react badly to common meds, even "natural" and "wholistic".

We have the same problem. What we have found over

@on the cusp years of chasing things around, is that often it's not the main ingredient but the additives or excipients which cause problems. For example lots of filler called Lactose. Not on my list of ok.

Also corn/mais and thousands of others.

We are doing ok with the one at a time as many as possible in liquid form and formulated for absorption under the tongue.

Many liquid supplements like the provodine and other ingestibles are preserved with alcohol. For sensitive people it is a problem which can cause many reactions. Leaving a dose in an open spoon to evaporate can help. Or look for a different formulation. This is a widely known problem.

"Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode," he added.

on the age and any co-morbidity. I believe many more healthy young people are hurt more by the vaccine than by SARS-CoV2, especially now that they are giving vaccinations down to 5 years. The next group will be 6 months to 5 years. How do you feel about that? How about pregnant women?

Mandates should not be done for a vaccine that can neither prevent infection nor transmission.

Harm can happen while waiting for publication and exclusive rights to information preventings the dissemination of the knowledge from researchers, authors and journal staff. Another hint if true is the specialists, their close friends and families start making changes in their lives to avoid problems.

I think the information many of us are posting here is very valuable and one day we will look back at it and say that yes we were right all along to question everything about the epidemic and how it was handled.

In the late 69's I was sharing a house with several young guys. One of them ended up getting his 20 year old girlfriend pregnant. He was a dead beat and ended up skipping out on the rent and his girlfriend. The girlfriend begged me for over a month to lend her money for an abortion. Her family were Jehovah Witnesses so she felt she couldn't get help from them. She tried getting a personal loan but that was not as easy back then.

She begged me again and again and again saying her life would be destroyed. After weeks I eventually broke down and lent her the $500. She never paid the money back. BUT, when I did meet her five years later she CURSED and swore at me because if I had not loaned her the money she wouldn't have been able to get the abortion in time and would have been forced to have the baby. There were strict term limits back in those days not like today when it's OK as long as there is still one foot in the womb.

Over the ensuing years it had gotten out to her family that she had an abortion and her mother said she would have accepted her daughter and granddaughter back into the family with open arms.

I can still remember her anger and tears as she tore into me for being the causality of her baby's death. Suffice to say, I no longer support abortion except for medical purposes. So I have no problem with sites like which I posted from.

My feelings on abortion are my own

I will not press them upon others - for or against. For my entire life, abortions have been available relatively freely in the first trimester. That should be enough time to make a decision if you don't want to bring another life into this world. Medical decisions for and against terminating pregnancy after that should be left up to those directly involved. They are not any of mine or others concern.

That's the same way I feel about the current vaccinations.

BTW, I do not believe the girl was psychotic. Religion was part of her upbringing and she was terrified and embarrassed if her parents found out. Unfortunately I wasn't wise enough at the time to understand the true situation and I became an unknowing instrument of destruction instead of assistance. I have no knowledge if the doctor that did the abortion counselled her but I rather think he/she didn't.

Why the rush to vaccinate everyone? To get rid of the control group before the truth comes out. Including kids who aren’t at risk of dying from it. Injuries and deaths are coming out faster than they planned for and they won’t be able to cover it up much longer. 30 athletes have had heart problems or have died. That’s not normal. Sure people can have undetermined issues, but most pro athletes have been through lots of testing because of the amount of money they get. I had a visit with a friend a couple days ago who spoke of her 4 year-old grandson’s current state of unease regarding joining his friends in play. Although his parents are quite sensitive and very attentive to his natural 4 year-old needs, he is expressing unnatural fear of contact. What can be sadder than crushing a child’s natural ability to enjoy life.

Telling them that they will be responsible if grandma dies because they aren’t vaccinated. My gawd how are kids going to recover from what has been done to them? Telling them that if they don’t get jabbed it’s going to be their fault if their best friends die. One lady tweeted that her son kept saying his best friend’s name while getting poked because he thought he would be saving his life. Babies are being set back from learning how to read facial expressions because of masks and it’s lowering their IQs.

I enjoyed that article and at the end it talks about how kids shouldn’t get vaccinated for childhood diseases until later in life because natural immunity is better for them. Vaccinating kids for chickenpox is driving up rates of shingles because people are not being exposed to it throughout their lives anymore. Most of us already have immunity to it and being exposed to it helps us ward off shingles later in life. Interesting stuff coming out due to the Rona vaccines which shouldn’t be called that because they are not real vaccines.

Love your new picture. Guess we all got a little older since we arrived here. Well except for snoopy. He will always be young.

That’s delightful. If kids can’t go in there’s always puppies and older dawgs. My aunt loved to see dawgs visit her when she was in hospital.

Just read about the effects dawg owners get when they sleep with them. A tighter bonding, but interrupted sleep. I can attest to that. When Sam was in hospital I slept through the night. I wake up frequently because she moves. But it’s worth it waking up to her snuggling next to me. This morning I slept in until she stuck her nose under the cover to see how I was. Then she snuggled up and we went back to sleep. I wouldn’t trade this for a million bucks.

I’m seeing lots of videos pushing kids to get jabbed. I’m not calling them vaccines anymore because they are not in the true sense of the word. Vaccines help people become immune to viruses. These do not and one essay I read said that they do get inside cells at the basic level. And they can charge how cells work. The new Nuremberg trials can’t come soon enough!

We have been wondering about a number of statistics.

- What percent of each cohort in various countries is really getting the two shot scheme? Real resistance may be higher than we think.

- It seems the health care workers/doctors/scientists may be some of the most knowledgeable resisters. How many, and what percentage won't?

- In the populations, how many or what percentage are starting to peel off as new studies, adverse events and other nasty information is becoming more visible? When we explained to a friend that six months after the first shot, it expires, and along with it the green passport that says 'vaccinated' he said, no more shots. Are others saying the same?

- Athletes are a great worry, regardless of pro or daily workouts. The bicycle racers headed for the Tour de France. Some of the most extreme athletes out there. Croise les doigts.

Thanks everyone for the contributions to our knowledge. I hope at this late stage we can keep our comments civil and straightforward. The fear factor is amped and we are not immune at any level.
