The progressive collapse is complete [Update: Not Yet]

Pathetic.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi set a House vote Friday on a $550 billion public works bill but delayed a vote on a larger tax and spending bill that forms the bulk of President Joe Biden’s economic agenda.

House Democrats do not yet have agreement on the larger bill, worth more than $1.75 trillion, and a vote on passage could be pushed until after a week-long recess. Instead the House will take a procedural vote Friday that will allow that legislation to advance to the floor later.

I predict that a vote on the larger bill will never happen.

In contrast, this happened yesterday.

Now it appears the House is inching toward a vote on that legislation, with another on the infrastructure bill to follow on Friday.

Progressives led by Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairwoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) have seen the bill get whittled down from $3.5 trillion amid opposition from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and House centrists, and they’ve had to agree to concessions on priority policies.

But the bill headed toward getting a vote includes once again four weeks of family leave, making it stronger from their perspective than the framework deal announced last week.

It’s possible that the family leave provision will be cut before a Senate vote, but the action by the House is intended to make it more difficult to remove it completely from the package.

Progressives have given up their only leverage.

Got to see how it plays out.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/580313-jayapal-sinks-pelosi-plan-for-...

The head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus quickly shut down Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) plan to vote Friday on an infrastructure bill without also passing the larger social benefits package that Democrats have sought for months.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) said liberals are holding firm to their insistence that both bills move together — a strategy they believe gives them the greatest leverage in negotiations with centrist Democrats when the benefits package moves to the Senate.

And they have the numbers to sink the infrastructure bill if it comes up alone.

Their congressional wages alone put them in the upper 10-20% income bracket.
Apparently the removal of the SALT deduction limits is still in the bill, which will give even more money to millionaires.
Isn't that sweet.

WHO is the world's worst tax haven scam? US states like Delaware, or the UK's City of London? ?

[Video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWXPlIJIz1g]
No more tax shelter SCAMS!

The rich need to pay taxes!

No more give aways! NONE Joe, NO MEANS NO.

My vote goes to the US and the CIA, because of their slickness..in this brilliant scam to evade taxes - see the comments here on the taxation shell game "deal" Which protects the oilygarchs and lets them evade halof of the taxes they pay now.. Its a shameless scam.

Look at how they helped hide the fakeness of the WTO-barred fake 'progressive' platform being blocked by GATS, so it was a cover up.

If wouldnt be if it wasnt banned from the start, nomatter how much sense it made, it was verboten.
Just like we'll see the NHS is. They laid the biggest lie trap for us. It may have been good policy but it was not policy the President or US as a WTO member could have implemented without first leaving the GATS. So it was entirely fake. Also they HID the case that India is bringing against us totake the middle clas jobs in their entirety. After all they need them. Their Brahmins cant do medial labor like washing dishes or cleaning upo their own poop. They are entitled. , Look at the tax havens and the people who run them, we are seeing corruption now like the world has never known. And its all centered around the US and former UK colony tax havens, Delaware now being one of the BIGGEST in the world. ,Its purpose to help the rish evade responsibility for the mess they have made the world into ich if we lose, could mean the end of the middle class in the US.

The US is in this mess deep. Delaware hides the wealth of the rich. Hiding the sweetheart deals they get, underlining the financial system. Criminals who now control the media and now have newspapers hide aall the theft. Victims always blamed. Most important facts always hidden. Everything is "backwards", convoluted, the unmistakable sign of the biggest

"EXTRINSIC FRAUDS"

Who is now the biggest tax haven in the world? The US is tied with the Spidrs Web. The thieves - Taxation is not Communism. No matter what they blame their crimes on, they cant hide the associations which make the link between the fasism of the very rich, the obvious theft.. It all started in the so called end of colonialism, and its goal was to continue to9 hide the wealth of the very rich and create fakeness. for the rich. Hiding their assets under smoke and mirrors.. ISnt that what they are doing here in the US with healthcare? One scam after another. By country. And almost as large as the City of London's Spiders Web which now holds more than half the money in the world in a web of countries and a confusing "bocage' intended to hide the beneficial ownership of oligarchs and make recovery of their thefts almost impossible by hiding their assets under shell after shell after shell..

Read Nicholas Shaxson's Treasure Islands" book. Now.

This is what a number of trade publications have been telling us. Millions of desk jobs and white collar jobs would be lost to offshoring and outsourcing. Why pay Americans to do them when Indian firms do them for 1/3 mas much. We already agreed to this in 1994. Its been covered up by a huge disinformation campaign. They are

STEALING EVERYTHING

. Hiding what amounts to the largest theft in human history. Also the largest redistribution of wealth in human history. Upward.

The CIA is going to be seen in a more realistic light. It doesnt help our nations security to help foreign special interest loot the nation of its jobs ande doom our young people to crap jobs in perpetuity. But thats what they are doing by allowing this theft. Under the guise of anti-democracy "trade agreements" which make the vote ineffectual. In other words steal the power of the vote from all of us. The Trilemma of the Global Economy, according to economist Dani Rodrik, holds us all in a golden straitjacket, enslavged to the demand of global capital. Business must be more and more profitable, demanding ever rising returns out of any business that is not evil to all.

Like Cruella De Ville. Sure we can vote for more shambolism and fakeness. More dalmatan or endangered species furs, or even green friendly fake furs.

Be it from Tweedledum or Tweedledee, Dumb or Dumber. Hooray, showing our individuality, Coke or Pepsi. But neither tweedle can do anything of note, except cut more regulations and taxes, and flush all of our futures down the drain Thats what we voted for they will say. We fell for the scam every time. Thats what we get for doing so. We are being scammed by the neoliberals and Austrian and Geneva School globalists, fake economics. zit weill all explode in. .

Ever since they signed our democracy away on December 8, 1994. Giving the future world to the richest oilygarchs. The slimy rich. Claiming to own the world. What about the voters? Who own what? Nothing. Taking the step to get rid of all public services, if anything is sold by anybody the government cant step in - this deal dooms Social Security and Medicare. Also it gives banks the right to sell any service they want and forbids the government from involvement in health insurance and any other fiunancial services. Banks must be given the rights to take over. A cashless society will create totalitarian levels of control. This is what they want since democracy is being dismantled, they want to shut down human dignity and end too free speech. This is what the ultra rich wanted from coronavirus, a crisis they could milk for lomng wanted policy changes voters would never in a million years vote for.

Be aware, , the GATS and TISA are sham "agreements" chock full of bad policy changes, that are fully intended to turn people intom slaves of the corporate state, globally.

Slavery was never abolished. By design. You will be buried by debt. Read the 13th Amendment. Its coming back.

The goal of the GAFA cartel seems to be to literally privatize and financialize everything. Even water.

Dem leaders say they'll go forward with vote on infrastructure bill

4:35 p.m.

Democratic leaders in the House say they are moving forward with a vote Friday on the bipartisan infrastructure measure, despite opposition from progressives who say it should not get a vote until the House is also ready to vote on a separate, broader social spending and climate measure.

Asked about the statement of opposition from progressives, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said "the fact is we believe it is necessary to pass the BIF" so that jobs she said it would create can come online immediately.

"I do believe there are a large number of members of the progressive caucus who will vote for the bill," Pelosi said.

"I have Speaker's secret whip count," she added after noting the whip count by House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.). "I have a pretty good feel."

No doubt that the number of so-called progressives is inflated as it is dubious that you can simultaneously be both a progressive and a member of the "new democrat coalition".

And they are saying contradictory things, and that Pelosi is calling the progressives' bluff.
I guess we'll know for sure in an hour or so.

Thanks for the updates

I may have to change the title of this essay.

Asked if she has 218 votes to pass the infrastructure bill without the social spending bill, Pelosi only said "we'll see."
Pelosi said with a smile at one point, "I have the speakers' secret whip count."
"I do believe there are a large number of members of the progressive caucus who will vote for the bill," she said.
After speaking to reporters, Pelosi huddled with senior staff on the floor of the House chamber, carrying a paper with a list of names that she kept referencing.
Biden called Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a Washington state Democrat and the head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, this afternoon amid the standoff, according to three sources familiar with the matter. She left a CPC meeting early to take the call.
But after Jayapal asked for a show of hands of those who would not back the infrastructure bill, roughly 20 progressives raised their hands, according to a source in the room.

Dems only have like 5 vote majority. Five is a loongg ways from 20.

The irrelevance is increasing. Its incredible how people are sucked into wasting time For me myself its been more than 40 yrs. This last election, Democrats still got most of my vote, But I keep swearing off of them. Its time to create a "real Democratic" Party, to fight back against the Rot.

The rich have to stop getting tax breaks, and paying their taxes. The corporate boards of Big Tax evaders should be cooked and fed to the hungry poor.

As well as the assets they are hiding. I hope people are following the urgent need to rethink and reboot our economies, and clean out the corrupt politicians. .

At the end they explain "efficiency gains" which is how they claim to "justify" trade deals that sell off jobs and privatize all good things.

In an awkward development in the marathon debate, Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), head of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), arrived outside the meeting of the Progressive Caucus — and they haven’t let her in.

Beatty, who’s joined Pelosi in pushing for a stand-alone infrastructure vote, said neither the Speaker nor President Biden, with whom she spoke earlier in the day, asked her to visit the progressives in an effort to change minds.

Since they are only pretending to be actual legislators, democracy having been emasculated, we should only pretend to pay them, and they should repay all that money back, retroactively. This is wht they want to do with people who have received benefits they were not entitled to (maybe by hiding income, like the Australia "robodebt" (Centrelink) cashless debiting scheme which claws back benefits digitally from peoples bank accounts. Some people who were stuck in this mess have been so tortured by this situation they killed themselves, which I am sure the Australian government views as a success as its main goal is cutting money spent on the poor and jobless.

Anyway, interesting news.. The US is now the world's biggest tax haven, we're (Delaware and several other states that coddle the banking industry and its needs) is tied with the former UK colonies described in the informative "Treasure Islands" book.. (Nicholas Shaxson) and also switzerland, for first place. Wealth is concentrating very rapidly and more than half the world's money is in tax havens now. Much of that wealth has been stolen from people around the world.

How Tax Haven States Enable Billionaires to Hide Trillions The US has now become the global center for money hiding and illicit wealth storage.">Here is another revelation.

But not to me. Iv known about this world for decades, and that it was spiraling off into its own isolated rich world..

Also, you MUST read the Shale Reality Check Report 2021 at ShaleBubble.org. Its important. Dont say we didnt worn you for letting them steal our essntial resources. If its worth anything, hey will tryto steal it. Thus goes all the way back to the Clintons and the Punta Del Este, Uruguay secret oligarchs meeting September 15-20 1986.

I re-registered as a Democrat so I could vote for Bernie in the primary in 2020. Now I have no interest in being a member of any party.

(minutes later)

Ok, I am now officially "not a member of a party". Thanks, Oregon Voter website! That was easy! The Dem party didn't want me. Certainly not any ideas I might have, any opinions on issues. It's sort of like leaving that website we used to go to.

@Shahryar

party registration does matter quite a lot. Not that it inherently *should* but because the closed primary system locks independents out of participating where most the action often is - in the primaries.

Open primaries or ranked choice would appear to be better alternatives to the current system.

FWIW - left the (Oregon) Pacific Green Party (which I helped start and which, in the beginning was simply the'Pacific Party') - having previously left the Dems - in response to this appeal by Robin Koerner in support of Ron Paul's 2012 candidacy:

If You Love Peace, Become a "Blue Republican" (Just for a Year)

If you are a Democrat, and you sit tight and vote Democrat again "because you've always been a Democrat" or because you think that some group with which you identity will benefit more from Democrat programs than a Republican one, then that is up to you, and I wish you well. But don't you dare pretend that you are motivated primarily by peace, civil rights or a government that treats people equally.

Original 2011 article at Huffpost

One year has become one decade - but see no big incentive to go elsewhere.

Therefore I remain ever your humble & etc...

The thing is that we knew they would sell us out, but how many got their hopes up just a tad hoping that this time we would get at least crumbs from the progressives? I admit that I did. There are 93 progressives in the caucus and Jayapal insisted that they would not vote unless the one was before the other and yet once again they didn’t even do that.

Just saw a tweet of blue check Twits calling Pelosi da man! for getting it passed. Crimy!

The shitlibs are also celebrating if you want to see look at the wreck list.

Another BFD is that that 6 Democratic members voted against the bill so it took 14 Republicans to help it pass.

Wow 6 rotating villains and 14 republicans who came to their rescue.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg in 2008. Rigged primary, adopting a progressive platform, hopey/changey, insane spending on campaign with minimal advancement, pledges of bipartisanship, dragged out year long negotiating, conservadems whittling down legislation and defending the rich. Insert tax breaks for the rich. String along the progressives until the last minute, then ditch progressive platform. With their backs up against the wall the left is told to take it leave it, it's all you're gonna get.

The press writes about what losers the dems are, Dem rank and file defiantly crows about the BEST LEGISLATION EVER!!, everyone comes together and says it's the progressives fault, we need to move to the center, and we get screwed.

Did I leave any thing out?

Like how would this spending bill, which comes at a very inauspicious time, actually help me or you?

Most people think it would create jobs for you or me, but they are very likely wrong.

Where does this huge amount of money go, tax cuts for the rich, or more corporate welfare? Why should I care? Will that money pad the pockets of our oligarchs, or Third World oligarchs?

Could anybody here who knows this please fill it in. Good faith answers please.

They are in better shape almost everywhere else, its true.

So, they will actually rebuild our roads? Who is saying that?

I dont like the toll road business model they are fixated on. Privatizing everything (they are pretty much wedded to that, for some odd treaty reason sucks. Privatize schools too, water too?

We don't need lots more toll roads? Or pay as you go with transponders. Our cars shouldn't all be data collection and toll collection devices.
