Trans woman deliberately run down by hit-and-run driver in East Los Angeles

I don't have a big story for today. It's my birthday, so I'll be celebrating with my partner. I am now 68 years old...much more than I ever thought I would be.

Shortly after 2:30am yesterday in front of a Monterey Park, CA restaurant, someone driving a car when out of their way to intentionally strike a transgender woman with the car and then fled the scene.

Police received a call of a female body lying on the ground in front of the restaurant. After police arrived on the scene they concluded that the victim had suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a car, but found no evidence of the vehicle or the driver.

Further investigation revealed the injured person, “was the victim of an assault and struck by a vehicle,” police said in a written statement.

Police initially misgendered the victim.

Investigators have not been able to speak with the victim due to the severity of the injuries.

--Lt. Tina Montoya on Saturday afternoon

No description of the hit-and-run vehicle was available, and there was no available information regarding a motive in the near-fatal attack, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Monterey Park Police Department.

understand this kind of behavior. I just don't get it why people freak out on people that are not exactly the same as them. The fricking bathroom law in NC. It's absurd. These are people, they are human. What is it that people do not understand? If they are human, do they not have human rights? If I cut you and then cut them, do you not bleed the same color blood? Do we not expect everyone that goes into a restroom to mind their own business?

PS: Happy birthday!

but paisley is cool! History of Paisley.

Origins of the Paisley:

It is generally agreed that the paisley symbol originated in Persia 200-650 AD during the rule of the Sassanians who created an empire who's armies kept the Romans at bay for centuries. This empire included what we know roughly as the Middle East, the Caucasus and central Asia. Their culture continues to influence Persian identity right up to the present day (pic 1 - a paisley ornament from Afghanistan C12th-14th). The symbol began to appear on Persian fabrics in the early C16th. Hence an early nickname for paisley shapes, especially by American quilt makers, was “Persian pickles”.

No wonder Hillary wants to bomb Iran (formerly Persia), they originated the Paisley!

I just turned 63, same age that my husband died, I get no chill-on-the-back for that. Happy birthday to a wonderful writer for the trans-folk among us. Do not attempt to load a cake top with that many candles.

Resilience: practical action to improve things we can control.

You made it to 68, so that is the good news, Robyn.
I had a former judge yuck and fake vomit that a trans went to the courtroom to keep up with what is going on with the capital murder trail of the man accused of killing and robbing her brother.
Not all that long ago, at TOP, I mentioned this woman/born a dude was my great and good friend. I referred to her as a tranny, without knowing that term is an insult. My circle of trans friends is tiny, like me, and her. I do not know the lingo that is proper or improper. But I know I called the former judge an asshole, told him to just get over it, and I know I give that lady a hug in the packed courtroom once a month when the defendant comes to court for routine hearings. I do not understand the hate, hope the fucking driver who hurt this person is arrested and charged.

hard to say "happy" birthday when you post, as too often, about horrible crimes. but best wishes to you for many more happy years.
