Interesting take as is this
Hypocrisy front to back. No mention of genocide, but we're gonna honor you now (as we continue to screw you).
Great music tonight anyway. Helps me get past the stench of America. Thanks js!

NYC Has Weighed in
What if you hold your usual Colombus Day parade, in years gone by a Jumbo Event, and nobody shows up? That's what happened.
There is No skirting the issue. No On This Hand and On the Other Hand about Colombus Day and Indigenous People's Day sharing a space. How dumb is our gov't.
Here's who was waving to the very thin sprinkling of New Yorkers lining the march route down Fifth Avenue. Mayor de Blasio with 90 days left. And our new Governor Kathy Hochul.
And the GOP candidate for Mayor in next month's election, Curtis Sliwa. de Balsio and Sliwa have Italian heritage. Maybe that gets a pass. de blasio was booed, if that counts in any way.
Absent was everybody else----Jumaane Williams and all the NY Progressives, the (D) Mayoral candidate, you name it they were not there. No mention of Colombus Day on the NY Times website. The NY Post covered de Blasio getting booed.
Things are unraveling no matter which side you are on in any of the divisive issues. There will be no hiding it as the days go by.
For the first time I feel some optimism that we can get to a general strike.

yeah, biden is really taking a page out of obama's book with symbolic acts and lip service to the left while doing the business of the corporate state.
have a great evening!

i hope that it gets traction and gets something started. this would be the time for a general strike.
Something on the lighter side.
evening humphrey...
heh, that's fucking great.
Now back to reality.

i guess we better all stock up on rubber rafts now before the rush is on.
No worries everyone, Utopia is on the way brought to you by
a billionaire of course. Russell Brand explains it all.

well, let's see, so far billionaires have brought us a crushingly brutal system of wolves and sheep, where the billionaires get to play the wolves and everybody else, well you guessed it. funny that they are now worried about "sustainability."

makes you wonder when the nobel board was infiltrated.
At least to when Empty got his prize in 2009

i suppose that it could go all the way back to kissinger's nobel.
That's when it became the Nobel P!ss Prize :-D
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
How is your bipartisanship working Joe? Likely results!
heh...
seems like corporate dems are always most comfortable when they are "forced" by republican villains to do the will of the 1%. i suppose the only good thing about that is that it would make manchin and sinema redundant.
I meant to use my office holiday
to get a 2 hour allergy test done. Got there to the office, discovered the lab employees were all out sick with COVID, so no testing for 3 weeks.
Oh well, caught a great sale at a clothing store, and have spent the afternoon and evening listening to music. Blues, rock, country, vintage 50s top hits, and some great cajun. Well, until my Dear One saw me looking for motels in Baton Rouge to book, and he switched to 50s movie themes.
Oh well, tomorrow afternoon is a test. Can I announce "ready" for 8 hearings in succession and really mean it? That is going back to work after a day off with a vengeance.
Hope you had a nice weekend, joe!

evening otc...
wow, that's pretty bad when your medical testing facility has to close during a pandemic. is that common in your area?
wow, how much time do you get between hearings? that sounds like a pretty huge caseload for a single afternoon.
have a great evening!
I figure the judge will clear out his docket
Friday afternoon was a specially set case for a divorce that was a ripping raging argument that took 5 hours. One highly contested case on the way out the door for a 3 day weekend, then I come back to work to this.
About office closures, I know the closest hospital to me closed its' ER for a couple of weeks because the staff was sick with COVID.
It was a 45 minute drive to get to the test clinic this morning, so they really had no time to call to alert me of the problem.
I know the closest Walmart to me, the town where the hospital is located, closed for 3 days because 90 employees tested positive. No way to know if they were sick. The office staffers of this morning were all sick.
I took in a probate case for a lady last week. Her Mom died of COVID, and then her Dad committed suicide. She was in the home, heard the shot.
It is very intense to talk to these clients. The emotions suck the oxygen from the room. I somehow find words to make them cry it out of their system, then start to change the subject to how fun the departed used to be.
And THIS is why I want to go play in Baton Rouge!

sounds like you deserve every bit of vacation you can get! take care.
Say a little prayer for Sam
She has parvo and was in the vet hospital today and I transferred her to the Er vet hospital tonight instead of having her come home for the night. I’ll pick her up tomorrow and take her back to the vets and let her finish her treatments there. Parvo is rampant here because of people not getting their dawgs vaccinated against it because of Covid. Sam has been and it’s why she is doing so well tonight. But still y’all know how sad it is to watch your pet going through something you can’t fix. It’s very lonely here tonight, but I’m sure I made the right decision to keep her under observation just in case. One night without her is much better than the alternative. And it ain’t cheap.
If you didn’t know parvovirus can live for over a year and dawgs can be infected even though they are vaccinated. No puppy for Sam for 12-18 months. I have to warn her friends in the dawg play group to watch for any signs of them coming down with it. So as the vet said, 'no vaccine is 100%.
I just did a load of washing her gazzilion toys in bleach and they are sending me more information on how to disinfect my house.
Hold your love ones close…did I mention how lonely it is here?
The doctor just called and said that the staff has fallen in love with her because she is so sweet.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
Damn, girl!
All the best to Sam.

thinking good thoughts and crossing my fingers. take care!
We managed here
The Lummi, the paper mill workers, and others from every walk of life ran out 5 proposed oil export facilities, a coal export facility and an LNG facility. When the dust settled and we had won no one was more surprised than we were. We beat BNSF. Tessero/ Savage, Millennium Coal, and the Chinese who were busily greasing palms well on their way to building an LNG facility. Oddly enough Bernie Sanders probably deserved part of the credit. We were presented with the Vancouver Washington facility as a done deal. We each felt helpless. I had decided to hear all the presidential candidates speak as they rolled through our second rate town. Bernie came to Portland the following week, so I went. He inspired me to at least go speak my piece and not just take oil trains, at the rate of 1 an hour, running through my town. I met 300 like minded people who individually came to the same conclusion. We had each individually decided to go hear what Bernie had to say and had attended his rally. From there we grew into a huge group for the next 3 years the port commission had to hold it's meetings in an auditorium. We were of all political beliefs including more than a few who likely ended up voting for Trump. The Lummi joined and we were soon having our meetings outdoors around a totem pole carved specifically for this quest. Even little old logger town Aberdeen with it's 14% unemployment rate joined us and came out in droves to support the Quinalt tribe on whose oyster beds another oil company planned to build on. It can be done but it takes setting aside what people don't agree on and focusing on what we do. At the bottom of everything that is the key.
What an amazing achievement!

evening pswaterspirit...
glad to hear that activism scored a big win - and glad to hear that protecting the environment drew a broad coalition across the usual political divides.
have a great evening!
