Biden says "the United States is not at war." WTF is he talking about??
I have to wonder what the people in the U.N. thought when Biden said this:
"I stand here today - for the first time in 20 years the United States is not at war," Biden declared as he concluded his speech. "We've turned the page."
Biden's speech was part of a wider effort to move on from the 20-year Afghanistan war, which ended with an ignominious withdrawal at the end of August. "The President will essentially drive home the message that ending the war in Afghanistan closed a chapter focused on war and opens a chapter focused on purposeful, effective, intensive American diplomacy," a senior administration official told reporters ahead of Biden's speech. But Biden's claim ignores ongoing US military engagements abroad, including in Iraq, Syria, and Africa, underscoring the difficulty of closing the chapter in the way Biden envisions.
2,500 troops (plus contractors) are in Iraq. At least 900 troops (plus contractors) are in Syria.
And the list goes on and on. So what in the Hell are you talking about?
The roughly 900 U.S. troops who are currently deployed to Syria are mostly invisible to Congress, the media, and the American public.
Syria is just the latest forgotten battlefield in the Global War on Terrorism.
Mostly invisible, but not totally invisible. Rep. Jamaal Bowman finally did something worth noting.
US Congressman Jamaal Bowman has introduced an amendment to the annual defence spending bill that would stop funds from being used to maintain Washington's military presence in Syria. The amendment, introduced to the House of Representatives last week and supported by six other lawmakers, would prohibit funds out of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) from being used to maintain American military operations in the country without congressional approval.
This must have been a "get off your a** and do something for a change" day for progressives, because Rep. Ro Khanna got an even bigger win.
Anti-war groups on Thursday welcomed the U.S. House's passage of an amendment to the annual defense bill that would cut off the flow to Saudi Arabia of U.S. logistical support and weapons "that are bombing civilians" in Yemen."This is BIG," tweeted the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) following the afternoon 219-207 vote, which fell largely along party lines, with just 11 Democrats voting "no."
That the amendment actually passed is a big deal.
This is especially bad news for the Saudis, because the Houthis are on the march.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Here's the thing
I have no problem with pointing out the failures of politicians.
But I don't like using their failures as a reason to ignore things they do right.
I also don't like pretending that a failure to do what is right is the same as intentionally doing evil.
edit: this is a general statement. not a judgement on you
What please?
I've made it possible for you to criticize my criticizing of aoc.
What has she done right in your opinion? Please give specifics.
To me, she's a poser of high magnitude. She's been shown by "mama bear" how to rape the gullible while accomplishing nothing for the masses she claims to represent.
A phony.

Congress just passed the biggest war budget evah
Boy it’s a good thing we ain’t at war anymore huh? Cuz if we were just imagine how big the budget would be…wait what’s that pivot to Asia thing waiting for the ducks to line up?
Progressives were so proud of themselves for kicking Israel until the vote passed anyway, but the tears from AOC was a nice touch and she is back to tweeting nonsense.
So Israel is getting close to $5 billion from tax payers whilst millions of Americans are being evicted. Sure shows where our priorities are. But seriously didn’t even one person laugh out loud when Biden said that?
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
Israel got only $1 billion after a very contentious vote...

Still too much. The partnership between the US and Israel is one of the biggest poisons in this world.

That is on top of the $3.8 billion yearly
Plus they got an additional influx of millions earlier this year. And gawd only knows how much they get off the books.

What I would REALLY like to know -
who is running things in the White House? We can be damn sure it is NOT Biden or Harris. The former can barely read a teleprompter or find his way out the room. The latter is clueless other than having the ability to memorize talking points. If required to expound on these she simply uses her gawd offal cackle which is a tell of her complete lack of substantial knowledge.
Personally, I don't agree with all those talking points.
But, who or what do you think is ACTUALLY running the head of state/government of the United States of America?
I've been coming around to the idea
that the ruling class are more organized than I originally thought.
It would appear
Lloyd Blankfein n/t
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
