I'm not gonna tell you what day it is because you already know that, it's today, for sure.

A few quotes from Roy Blount Jr, who got many things very much correct-a-mundo --

on people

“Even intellectuals should have learned by now that objective rationality is not the default position of the human mind, much less the bedrock of human affairs.”

on food

“Eaters of Wonder Bread
Must be underbred.
So little to eat.
Where's the wheat?”

“We live in an era in which tomatoes and fudgesicles taste pretty much the
same.”

on literature

“When it's summer, people sit a lot. Or lie. Lie in the sense of recumbency. A good heavy book holds you down. It's an anchor that keeps you from getting up and having another gin and tonic. Many a person has been saved from summer alcoholism, not to mention hypertoxicity, by Dostoyevsky. Put The Idiot in your lap or over your face, and you know where you are going to be for the afternoon.”

So that's that, off ya go now

Since there was no OT I took the liberty of somewhat creating one. I have a thread queued up for a future date that includes the following RBJr quote:

“If a cat spoke, it would say things like 'Hey, I don’t see the problem here.”

Or very possibly it is the one I'm still working on at this very moment, so it was an easy inspiration to just go grab a few more from the source from which I had chosen that one.
Perhaps this is the cat of which he spoke, dunno

The first cat launched into space was named Felicette, launched by the French on 18 October 1963, she somehow survived, but might possibly have seen one or more problems with the situation.

A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit. Allegedly Greek, but more possibly fairly modern quote.

especially of cats on the roof. Ours would sometimes climb up there, but we brought them in at night, and it was easier for them to ascend than descend, so they didn't do it much.

Thanks for posting the OTT. Got a good chuckle from the RBJr quotes. And space cats!
Doesn't sound like too much fun for Felicette. Unless they also launched some space mice
to keep her entertained. Cat and mouse in zero G. Wow! Those crazy French.

not you had any jam. As the White Queen explained to Alice:

"I'm sure I'll take you with pleasure!" the Queen said. "Two pence a week, and jam every other day." Alice couldn't help laughing, as she said, "I don't want you to hire me – and I don't care for jam." "It's very good jam," said the Queen. "Well, I don't want any to-day, at any rate." "You couldn't have it if you did want it," the Queen said. "The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday – but never jam to-day." "It must come sometimes to 'jam to-day'," Alice objected. "No, it can't," said the Queen. "It's jam every other day: to-day isn't any other day, you know." "I don't understand you," said Alice. "It's dreadfully confusing!"

Thanks mucho for the Beatles.
