Howdy folks. This is sorta of a flashback to the friday funk NCTim used to entertain us with.
He has a way of squeezing commentary in between killer funk tunes. I am no way near a funk master as you will figure out by my selections .. so please help me out here. What is your fave funk?

A visit to the Mystic Seaport museum. Maybe not funk, but funky anyway.

This week we travel back in time to the Whaling era and learn what it was like to crew on a whaling ship in the 1800’s at the Mystic Seaport Museum. Jordan nerds out about wooden boat history and restoration and we also sneak in a sunset harbor tour on one of the coolest boats we’ll ever set foot on!

Lots of work in the old boats and rigging.

Already been out and touched up my mowing before it get too hot. Need to prep for the 3+ inches of rain coming Mon and Tues with hurricane Ida.

yeah, sail down to mystic on occasion

(drive in the winter months)
a very cool living museum
always learn something there ..
watching the old timers cotton caulking
plank seams, always some ancient vessel
in some stage of restoration

an art form quickly evaporating from the
trade skills of each successive generation

most of the staff are real characters
steeped in history, happy to share their many
vague notions of the how's and why's
these old crafts were formed

funkin' hot here today. 90 degrees with
90% humidity. Building a tiny house on wheels
by the shop, but breaking often to cool down.

Which is cool, my first instinctive reaction was bass, and there it pretty much is.

I didn't until just now when I got an E-mail from them, and while these days any organization that alludes to (let alone literally spells out) "race" in its name immediately earns my suspicion, the actual content of their E-mail definitely earned them points with me:

Later I got an inguinal and didn't wait a day, "hey doc, think I got another hernia", shortly thereafter another 10 bux for a very worthy cause. Really don't understand how they can do that and other providers can't.

an incisional hernia fixed 5 weeks ago- popped it open gardening, where the incision from my January stomach surgery apparently hadn’t healed sufficiently. Taking it a lot easier after this one, for sure.

It didn’t cost me anything, primarily because I paid my annual out-of-pocket back in January. But totalling up the stuff that insurance has paid, that little trip to the crash house cost them north of $300k. Man, am I glad that I still have my corporate gig, for the insurance alone… Insurance has laid out north of 7 figures to keep me on this side of the grass this year. Mind boggling- what a racket modern medicine has turned out to be.

Actionnetwork.org - they allege that they provide a simple service to ngo's and candidates wehreby the ngo brings them copy and an (e)address list, and they do the (e)mailing. Whenever somebody unknown to me, or know but with which I've never interacted spams me, there seems to be a 99% chance it was sent via ActionNetwork.org. I signed Acre's petition or whatever it was and made sure that no "send me more" type things were checked, but next day I got a mailing from them, via ActionNetwork. I have an ancient no longer used e-mail that, nonetheless gets forwarded to my current account. WWhenever I get hithereto unknown mailings from ngos or politicos it is always ActionNetwork or ActBlue.

Years ago I told actionnetwork to remove me from any and all of their lists and to stop sending me shit and that's when they told me the story that people bring them mailing lists that they blindly follow and that they can't take off any lists or put me on a don't mail to list. I didn't believe then and believe it less now, but that's their story and they stick to it. When I do a mark as spam & unsubscribe to the e-mail I get, I don't get the ngo, I get actionnetwork, a form to update or change my e-mail address, even though they have no list and I'm not on it. Now, new stuff from politicians and ngo's I look to see if it is actionnetwork and if so send a reply to them saying that they are perpetually assigned to my spam box because they used actionnetwork and they really ought to stop using it.
