What is the Great Reset and How Could it Affect Us?

I have been waiting to see if someone much more knowledgeable than me would write an essay on the Great Reset. Unfortunately, we are stuck with my feeble attempt to tackle this subject. This essay will simply scratch the surface of what I see as at least one major implication of the Great Reset.

Every year in late January, business, banking, political and tech leaders from all over the world gather in Davos, Switzerland for the annual conference of the World Economic Forum. This conference may be the largest single gathering of so many powerful and wealthy individuals who discuss and map out ways to run the world in which we live. The World Economic Forum was founded by Klaus Schwab, a German engineer and economist.

I first got interested in the Great Reset after viewing a short video put out by the WEF touting their idea of the future in 2030. The video sparked a lot of negative response and was eventually taken down, but copies still exist courtesy of the Way Back Machine. In addition, Russell Brand has done several videos on the Great Reset which furthered my interest. Immediately below is just one of Russell's videos on the Great Reset.

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgIYd23hemk]

It should be noted that in writing this essay, I had a great deal of difficulty finding many good reference writings and analyses outside conservative websites. Below is the World Economic Forum video.

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKwENH-m4oU&t=22s]

The very first image in the video shows a smiling young man with the text below his face reading:

You'll own nothing And you'll be happy.

Continuing, the second image shows a drone delivering a package to a doorstep. The text reads:

Whatever you want you'll rent And it'll be delivered by drone.

Regardless of anything else the video predicts, these first two images set forth a very distopian future for all of us outside the oligarchy. Being reduced to renters under the thumb of the owners who will force us to rent everything, including the clothing on our backs, paints a picture of neofeudalism wherein the 99% are subject to whims of the owner class who can choose to set whatever price they wish for the most basic of necessities without any recourse from those who are forced to rent everything. This is asset stripping taken to the extreme including stripping us of our clothing or any other basic necessity.

The attempt to positively paint the future for us as a renter economy was set forth in an article entitled "Welcome to the Year 2030" written by Ida Auken a member of the Danish Parliament. When I read her account of the future, a cold chill went down my spine. For example, this passage:

When AI and robots took over so much of our work, we suddenly had time to eat well, sleep well and spend time with other people. The concept of rush hour makes no sense anymore, since the work that we do can be done at any time. I don’t really know if I would call it work anymore. It is more like thinking-time, creation-time and development-time.

Another passage from this essay paints a different picture of those who have opted out of the Great Reset.

My biggest concern is all the people who do not live in our city. Those we lost on the way. Those who decided that it became too much, all this technology. Those who felt obsolete and useless when robots and AI took over big parts of our jobs. Those who got upset with the political system and turned against it. They live different kind of lives outside of the city. Some have formed little self-supplying communities. Others just stayed in the empty and abandoned houses in small 19th century villages.

The author of this article, Ida Auken, seems to be overly optimistic or patently naive that if we surrender everything (our homes, our possessions, our privacy, and our lives) that we will be treated well in exchange for having zero power in this neofeudal system under the Great Reset. The ideas promoted by the Great Reset are being marketed to us as a way to solve the looming environmental crisis, refugee crisis, and inequality by us giving up all autonomy to the very people who created these crises in the first place.

Sounds outlandish? We are already seeing the beginnings of many of these ideas being promoted and even tested in the real world. Doing away with cash money was tested in India in 2016 with disastrous results. There is now talk of mandating a vaccine passport which could be the first step in creating a two tier society as well as infringing upon medical privacy rights.

Many people in the media seem to be dismissing the Great Reset as being simply a marketing mechanism for the World Economic Forum and its members. But with the oligarchs and big tech gaining such enormous power and wealth in just the last year, we should not dismiss it due to the enormous economic power they now wield. For example, Jeff Bezos' fortune rose so much that he could have given every one of Amazon's one million employees a bonus of $105,000 and still had the same wealth he had at the beginning of 2020.

Meanwhile most people lost wealth during that same period. So we should be very concerned about what they have planned for the future even if it is only aspirational. The World Economic Forum video linked above is only a small part of the Great Reset but it provides good insight as to how they view the future shaping up for the rest of us in decade ahead.

the wealthy individuals proclaiming this particular form of control
have found, as you say, a new marketing technique to push their
agenda on the masses. it is not so much in our favor as theirs.

a reset obviously needs to be made to allow us to continue our existence
but the price they are proposing is beyond the means of our tolerance

perhaps the greater reset would be to wrest control of economies and
governance back into the hand of the people? we can work it out

@QMS of the Russell Brand video summarizes it very well. Eric Schmidt indicts himself and the rest of his technocratic class. His own lack of self awareness is probably due to his arrogance as a member of the "Davos world." And we are to trust these people?

@QMS
Nature does nor waste space on a huge central processing system (brain) that has no function. It’s more likely that our smaller human CPUs simply don’t have the capacity to understand the depth of elephant cognition and self awareness. Likewise our aquatic air breathing leviathans, whales and porpoises.

There is absolutely no convincing evidence that humans are actually the “crown of creation”, quite the contrary. Where humans do seem to excel is in their hubris.

@gulfgal98 ...their obliviousness will be their undoing.

I've long thought it's the "middle-management types"/"plantation reeves" who are the REAL monsters - the go-betweens who CAN see both sides, and choose to do what they do.

Perhaps the solution to the hoi-palloi/oligarchy's joint pincer-war on the middle class is a mirror-image strategy along an alternate plane? Class warfare has always had the weakness of being FAR too linear in its thinking (and I'm growing not just disillusioned with, but actively opposed to, Marxism, all the moreso after reading this, which would've been pertinent even before the NewTruth scourge of the last 7 years: https://newdiscourses.com/2021/02/essentialism-logical-fallacy-plaguing-...).

@Battle of Blair Mountain I'm not sure what you're referring to by "racist logic gymnastics", but I'm REALLY not inclined to watch anything titled "[flavor-of-the-decade-American-folk-goblin] PROPAGANDA VS TRUTH!!!", much less that begins with a "trigger warning" for those who somehow only found out about the existence of neo-Nazis sometime after 2017.

Anybody who knows actually knows anything about trauma and mental healthcare would understand why "trigger warnings" are a HORRIBLE concept (as for why nobody's consulting real mental health experts before plastering this shit everywhere? I dare not even guess).

will they digitize currency? They already screwed anyone with savings with their almost zero percent savings interest forcing people into the stock bubble bound to pop.

We are at an economic cross roads no matter what you want to call it. Check out the WW on Sunday for a dive into the possible death of the petrodollar.

We're in the middle of a giant financial oil and war based ponzi IMO.

Good to see you and hope you're doing well. Off to see my FL buddies next week and looking forward to it.

gulfgal98's picture

@Lookout if we have already turned the corner on the petrodollar and on a fossil fuel based economy? It appears that big tech is in control now. If that is the case, would it not make sense that they would want to digitize everything, especially currency? It also explains why they would want to do away with private ownership. They are going to try to sell it to us as a way to save the environment and to give us more "personal freedom."

with your knowledge and perception of this vision.

This sentence arrested me in its import. "So we should be very concerned about what they have planned for the future even if it is only aspirational." Does this mean to you, that most have nothing more to hope for than wishes for a better future? Or do you mean that the wealthiest's aspirations need to be paid closer attention to before it's too late ... or something else?

I think much of what we need is found in small circles, and I know that experience has been a significant part of your life. I appreciate the balance you present between paying attention to both the big and little matters of life.

I will check out some links over the weekend.

@janis b This is very true, and as you know, consolidation and the elimination (even criminalization!) of boundaries is a HUUUUUGE problem with...damn near everything at this point in history; you'd think more of these people would be heedful of the dangers of "putting all your eggs in one basket" (looking at you, iPhone!). The oligarchy's too antsy to be in direct, personal control of EVERYTHING, which isn't even good for THEM; even the most well-meaning among them are trying to direct the world the way George Lucas tried to direct his actors.

It is easy to dismiss a lot of this as bull crap but they are not hiding that they want to own everything, including our bodies and minds. We are just commodities to them with our data to be mined and turned against us.

Thank you for the nice compliment. I get a lot of things wrong, but I think in this case we need to be very concerned about how powerful tech has become because they are the drivers behind this. We have seen a huge erosion of our personal liberties in the last several years with an enormous acceleration of those losses since the advent of COVID. And big tech has taken advantage of that. What amazes me is how greed feeds upon itself. The more they have, the greedier they become.

We need smaller circles now more than ever. It has been made painfully obvious during this pandemic to those of us in the US that our government does not care about our well being.

I have been able to change this person's mind before; his "who/what I take at its word without further proof" filter is just a little...dated, shall we say (and that's not all bad, of course! Checks and balances!).

Can you provide a more convincing source, or corroborating evidence?

The fact that our “leaders” serve these imbeciles highlights the real terror of our situation. Perhaps only an extraterrestrial intervention can save us from this magnitude of deeply entrenched human stupidity.

One thing I DO know is what's frustrating about just about all these radical ideologies, regardless of "wingedness" and *including* the ones I'm attracted to, is hardly anyone REALLY wants them; we're just resorting to them because a handful of stubborn cunts at the top would rather destroy the world than just go back to the friggin' Postwar Consensus!
