Got help coming today to help tame a bit of the wilds. It's 35 F this AM here. Unusual this late in the season. Glad the tender plants are inside and the lettuce is covered.
Dealing with car issues this PM. Truck has a dead alternator and battery, and my little GEO tracker has a blown head gasket I think. When it rains it pours. The old '86 Toyota is still running though.
Well y'all have a good one!

can relate to your car troubles
just sold my 2 Honda Insights
couldn't get them inspected
two less headaches ...
Now for the broken sump pump in the basement,
the fault allowed the space to be filled up
with about 6" cold water, using a backup DC pump
always something..
Good luck!

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Directed to lookout because my garden center order of Lantana arrived today and it was easy to recall why I vastly prefer to buy what I need in person.
My poor little pots arrived squished and dried out, some broken branches. I transferred them immediately into a very large pot filled with fresh soil watered them and placed them in the sunniest spot in my home. Too cold and windy for outdoors in NYC today. The info that arrived with the plants assured me that they will revive in a few days with the proper care. Well. Quoting from the Walnut Springs enclosure: "Shipping can be a little rough on the plants but they will bounce back after a day or two!"
in additional gardening news, a longtime neighbor of mine told me that my sunflower seeds will surely flourish. as advised, I got the shorter varieties to cope with high floor wind conditions.
If the sunflowers work out----next year basil dill and in the future tomatoes. OK Now I am dreaming.
Happy days with sustaining natural beauty to everyone.

Small and large.
MICROSCOPIC and astronomical
It's all the same.
Who can open the door who does not reach for the latch?
Who can travel the miles who does not put one foot
in front of the other, all attentive to what presents itself
continually?
Who will behold the inner chamber who has not observed
with admiration, even rapture, the outer stone?
Well, there is time left---
fields everywhere invite you into them.

"It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end."

Thanks for the OT QMS. It's somewhat hectic in my household with various tasks presenting themselves in intrusive and most unwelcome ways. It looks from your comment above you have some of the same. Most importantly, don't succumb to inundation (by water or otherwise)! I hope to put some ideas together soon and give you a break.
Feel the same way in terms of relative scope / scale
Seems like the tiniest things we perceive are just the
opposite side of the biggest we can imagine.
As if a molecule is just a galaxy on another scale.

These two selections are far from the mindless conglomeration broadcast on our TV stations.

Keep us posted on your garden. I have to cheer for a bit of green and flowers in every nook and cranny, every balcony, every rooftop.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal
. "Well read"....I would say not exactly...just a work in progress. I do like to read though.
My daughter introduced me to Mary Oliver a year or so ago and I finally checked out a couple of her books of poetry from the Library. I've been reading her lately and, among other things, she makes me want to ditch my bad attitude.
Le Guin is an old favorite, I didn't know her in my childhood but read her along with my daughter as she read her way through a chunk of "young adult lit".
Don't know what to see. Form and substance. Cosmic cobwebs.

Nice, QMS
Light between the trees,
Trees and light, nature’s perfect conjunction.
Four years ago, almost to the day …
Thanks Janis
Your shimmering canopy is very cool.
Cheers!
