Good morning, good people!
I hope this post finds you all in fine fettle, managing your households as best as possible under the new economic stress caused by a stupid and needless war.
I am posting the Round Table that appears on Fridays with Judge Nap. Nowadays, what happened yesterday can flip on a dime from what occurs today, so I anticipate all of you will
be sharing news and current events as they happen.
That said, here is the status of major current events as of yesterday: (34 min)
FWIW, I have personally witnessed a married woman judge give a married man attorney with whom she was having an affair, win after win, case after case, for years. I have also cross-examined a justice of the peace, married man, about meeting a constituent on dark country roads to give her advice on how to win a case in his court, and such meeting lasted no less than an hour. Said constituent was young, single, lovely, and in dire need of a court win. He even said he knew what I was getting at as he almost shit in his pants while in the witness chair.
So, while you may think this is crazy humor, I look at it as crazy reality. What do you think?

Iran has said an attack on their oil infrastructure would give them a green light to destroy oil infrastructure throughout the Gulf. They have made good on every claim they have made thus far.
I guess I should walk that 2 miles to my office just to see how long it takes. Lots of good exercise, no gym fees!
I think about our government failing to acknowledge Israel is committing genocide, never criticizing their methods of bombing hospitals, schools, mosques, desalination plants, farms, and children. Now, we are doing the same things in Iran. It is the new norm.

A lovely day today before we get a dose of freezing weather Monday and Tuesday. Trade day was pleasant and enjoyable. Gas is up to $3.50 heading to no telling where...and we get very little of our oil from the Persian Gulf. Marandi said the other day this war will last at least through the mid-terms. So hang on to your hats as the wind of war won't abate anytime soon.

We are having a lovely day here, but will also experience near-freezing temperatures for a couple of days. Meanwhile, the grass seed JtC spread this week show no signs of germination, despite perfect conditions. Maybe the seed packets was junk. We will know soon.
Yesterday, we bought new mower blades and enough oil for the mower to last 3 years. We noticed the shelves at the grocery store were bare where canned soup and canned veggies are normally abundant. Hmmm... Even the locals are getting wise and prepping accordingly.
One more court story: I was cross-examining the legendary Texas Ranger Leslie Stiles, the key investigator on a sexual assault of a child case. I asked him why he didn't submit the girls panties for normal lab testing in these types of cases. He responded, "I could tell it was semen on her panties by looking at them." There were 3 or 4 young Rangers sitting on the front row, learning how to testify effectively. They started groaning audibly, shaking their heads, so the judge immediately sent the proceeding into recess.
The Judge threatened me with contempt if I continued to be disrespectful. On the way home, my husband stopped at a liquor store and I went in to get him a six-pack of beer. The Judge was at the checkout counter with a six-pack of beer. I was 15 minutes from home, he was an hour away. Did he think that beer would stay cold? Btw, he died from cirrhosis of the liver.

cycle issue is why I, way out thisaway, decided to always make my OT themes non-contemporary, because I'm always behind unless it is something like a local quake or such.

Lately I have noticed news items telling with appropriate solemnity and horror of AI chatbots advising people to go commit mayhem or on how to commit mayhem or get the appropriate equipment. It hit me yesterday evening that this should not be surprising or shocking; this is the USofA, and mayhem is what we do here, at home and abroad. so it is natural that ai should pick up on that and treat it as a routine feature of our weltanschauung, to be dispensed exactly like other advice and recommendations.

I'm amazed at the narrative
the MSM spin on the evening news.
While watching the video of the domestic terrorist inside a fireworks store ( and the newshead described it as such) purchasing fireworks. But the newshead uses the term explosives to discribe his purchases.
It was described as $2000 worth of explosives.
Really, at todays prices, that amounts to four "Family Packs" of assorted safe and sane fireworks.

I love the story about Anderson Cooper marveling at the courage of a guy telling the truth about war.
We all know that modern technology allows Trump and his government to monitor everything anybody anywhere says, AND to murder us if they want to.
Would they do such a thing? They are doing it to Iran as we speak.

I can't think of a safe way to protest. Too many paid infiltrators, on top of AI. I gave my 2 cents about AI in my reply to el, infra...The Great Reset requires the world population to be reduced to 500 million of the best of the best, hand picked by exactly who, I don't know. It appears as though people in the Gulf region are pegged to go first.
I did read that the KC-135 had been deemed so safe for the crews that they had a good chance of surviving a crash without parachutes, and parachutes took up too much room and weight, so they removed them permanently in 2008.
Our kids and g'kids are fodder.

I would write Trump a letter, urging
him to avoid nuclear war, reminding him that the decapitation theory of warfare might be adopted by other various and sundry countries. So, he would not be a target if he retired right away. He could use the excuse his bone spurs spread, or something else just as plausible.
The last protest I participated in was to force a district judge to resign. It was confined to the sidewalk surrounding the courthouse. The crowd gathered 3 or 4 times. The judge finally agreed to resign under pressure after I and others took her to trial in Austin. Before she capitulated, someone drove by my home while I was in the front yard, and fired off a shot that only missed my head because I bent down to pull a weed. She is the judge I was referring to that had the long running affair with a local attorney. So, if AI had existed back then, none of us protesters would have survived.

I have never had anybody shoot at me. I can imagine it being an extremely discouraging experience, and I can both understand and respect any caution that it has induced. But I cannot help but notice that videos like the ones on this thread are just as dangerous as marching at the courthouse and lobbying for a judge’s removal from the bench.

I also had real concerns about drugs being planted
on me back in the late 80s and early 90s when my practice was almost entirely criminal defense. A client I represented told me about the plot with the prosecutor and sheriff that for every drug charge I got, he would have 10 years taken off his looming life sentencing. He and his family had been my friends all our lives. He just couldn't let them get away with it.

You are correct about the ignorance of many things, such as Geography, on constant display in our society.
JtC is getting his weight, energy, and physical comfort back with each passing day. One thing that became noticeable to him today was the numbness and tingling of the soles of his feet. It is common after chemo, could be temporary, could be permanent, but he figured he would rather deal with it, if that is what it takes to stay alive, ya know?
Wrt China, my feelings are quite mixed. They are in their second or third 5 yr plan since I was there. My time there was in a harsh period of incredible military/police presence. Heavy surveillance. Restrictions on movement and expenditures. Incredible restrictions on freedom of speech. Fear among the population of displeasing the government was palpable. Our tour group was given instructions of restrictions on behavior that, at the time, would have been no big deal anywhere else in the world. Nevertheless, I made friends with the locals, came to know and love several of them. I was treated with the utmost respect everywhere I went, which was all of the main tourist attractions and surrounding areas. I cannot put my admiration of the people there on the same scale for anyone in any other country. Not even Russians. To say they are resilient doesn't begin to give them proper respect.
So, now, we are surveilled in this country. AI is programmed to assist the police and the military the data to kill us in our sleep, or while driving. See the Anthropic AI dust up I have mentioned in comments today. ICE is the equivalent to the militant police I saw in China.
Now, high gas prices and utility bills are tantamount to curtailing our freedom of movement.
We are shamed for causing global warming and just living life, while using millions of gallons of fuel bombing Iran, and emitting pollution from those explosions that will not dissipate for years.
How many of our universities and and students have been punished for speaking out against genocide? How many of us have been fired or not hired because we said the wrong thing on social media? Do you connect the dots between censorship and the constant issues with C99 black outs and slowdowns with our content?
We are not used to life as non-hegemonic. We have been conditioned to view economic competition as economic warfare. Well, I can adapt. And I want to mention, right after I wrote about JtC's chemo-related neuropathy, I received a text about what medications work to relieve the symptoms.
We must realize that the reasons we hate China and Russia are the same things that happen to us all day, every day.
Insofar as the economic struggle between the US and China, may the best economic system for humanity prevail.

I can't tell you how much I longed to visit China. Its arts, myths, philosophies, inventions, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. I loved looking at Chinese Dragons. Well, life went on and I grew up. My history mania led me to politics and current events--natch. I studied what happened to the old countries around the world. Russia was another historical passion of mine. I absolutely loved its literature, ballet and classical music. I never could wrap my mind around the totalitarians who grabbed control. I could see that happening here as this country is a baby. 250 years old? Snort! My niece spent several weeks in China, studying Mandarin Chinese. She came back with the same obervations as yours regarding the strict surveillance. She also added that their pollution was off the charts. That's why she could never live there. I was still envious she got the opportunity to visit. She also spent time in Russia, studying their language. Between the 2 countries, her fave was Russia. was so smoggy, the tour company gave us free masks. However, we saw thousands of trees being planted on both sides of all highways for hundreds of miles to absorb the CO2 emissions. I would guess that by now, the smog is under some control. They address many issues with each 5 year plan, and fresh air and how to achieve it is always on their list of things to do.
I am so fortunate to have spent 22 days there. I was only in Russia for 11 or 12 days. If it were possible, I would go to Russia a second time.

Iran has responded to the attack on Kharg Island w/a new level of violence. Dr. David Oualaalou, in this YouTube video, shows clips from an Arabic news site, Roya, that would be blacked out in Israel (and the U.S.). The IRGC sent hypersonic ballistic missiles carrying heavy warheads into several Israeli targets with precision. He is rather wordy, so if you don’t have time to listen, can skip to about 15 minutes to see results of the first attack on Haifa’s largest shelter. The missile was able to penetrate inside past heavy defenses. Dr. O— thinks China must’ve provided precise coordinates. These videos show explosions unlike any I’ve seen yet in this war. At about 40 minutes he shows a facility in Jerusalem targeting a group of Israeli soldiers. At about an hour Mossad headquarters is attacked. At the end, an anonymous ex-Israeli military officer discusses the devastating impact on Israel, how they are living in fear and no longer look at Iran as a weak country.

This made me wonder about Dr. Oualaalou’s video so I looked him up and his credentials look good. I tried searching for info on Mossad’s building. The only thing I found was a story about a fake AI video re. an attack on their building last summer. Hard to know who to believe anymore—can’t believe MSM and apparently people with nothing better to do are making up fake AI stories. Makes me wonder, could Dr. Oualaalou have been duped about any of this?
