What kind of face, where? I'd like to see it too. Maybe the white fluffy stuff?

I too always see an animal. Usually I think camel, but buffalo works well.

Have a wonderful weekend

the one at the top just glanced at me
it is round, full of color
eyes, nose and mouth do not
project, but when I see people's faces
it is the color-nist energy I see

I was trying to follow what you were imagining. Following your imagination is always enchanting.

I like the subjects and lighting on your still life shots, Janis.

This squirrel stopped by my backyard the other morning.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

@Socialprogressive Fantastic Ground Squirrel photos SP! That is California Ground Squirrel, I think the old binomial was Citellus variegatus. I learned them as beechei, which is the subspecies, if you like trinomials. In Orange and even LA Counties in the 60 and 70's they were still common and co-habitate burrows with Burrowing Owls. Any pix I have of them together are un-scanned slides though. In the other areas in the west the Owls use Prairie Dogs to co-habitate with. GREAT photos!

@Socialprogressive

What a beautiful coat the squirrel wears. In the last photo at the bird bath s/he looks cat-like.

Though, I guess, a "still life", the top one is full of motion for me.

It has a very short brim, enough to protect my eyes from the sun, but not so long that I keep knocking it off against branches when I'm out pruning or picking fruit. I can see the effect though since the brim doesn't show in the shadow from the angle.

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well...

Here are some birds feeding on seed in the paths I cleared in the snow.

These are Chipping Sparrow shoulder to shoulder, just a part of the flock which during the snow numbered about 225. This through window and screen so sorry about that... was too cold to open up to shoot straight.

We have electricity, dsl, store has limits but the basics, gas station sold me a little gas, we're good to go. Heard my first Sandhill Cranes flying north overhead this afternoon. White-fronted Geese should be any day soon too. Ground is turning green with sprouty things.

Be well all, play it safe!

It looks like the path to heaven for your sparrows.

Your yellow-headed blackbird looks cold. I've never seen that beautiful bird before.

I’m glad you’re not a refugee of Texastan for now.

@janis b
the gorgeous photos. Our flock sparrows eating the seeds in the snowy/icy pathway are the same, they come regularly as if they had their own dinner and lunch times. Our squirrels are different. Brown. Wish me luck and one day I finally pull out my camera and put it on the patio to film our 'wild life'. Two years ago we had a deer who had lost his/her way from the woods into our garden and couldn't find a way back. It was quite a treat to 'chat' with the deer. Otherwise we chat with a lot of other birds, whose English names I am too lazy and tired to look up. We also have a cute mouse and we used to have a hedgehog passing our patio. He didn't come back, so we got a hedgehog house for him and put it where he was last seen. But he never came back. I miss him. Hedgehogs are our family's mascot. Oh well, I don't blame him to not come back. Who would like a nut family like ours.

Be well. Thanks for your empathy.

pertained to thanks to scrolling and thought it belonged to photo number 2.

These are Chipping Sparrow shoulder to shoulder,

Needless to say I was momentarily bewildered since you got a great shot of a Pyrrhuloxia in flight and some obvious male HOFI. Great shots of Pyrrhuloxia in the top frame too.
