It is amazing what one can find if you take the time to look.

It has been a while since I have tried to post so bear with me.
Also what is the legal authority for strikes? Assad is a brutal dictator. But Syria is a sovereign country.

Ahhh, connotation indices.
It is far easier to take a "positive" word and slip in negative connotations, than to take a "negative" word and turn it positive. Language is like milk. Doesn't take much to spoil it, and it never gets better.
Here's an example: Which would you rather have: a nice, thick, juicy steak; or a bloody segment of muscle tissue severed from the carcass of an immature, castrated bull?
All it takes is drawing the parallels, and letting the reader run with it. Propaganda works, and both red and blue are damned experts at it.
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
We are now in good hands with Joe in charge.
Expect a democratic landslide in 2022 HAH!

but you've totally forgotten that his cabinet is the most diverse collection of war-mongers and neo-cons ever assembled!
the press is already covering for him, such as: 'oh, my; did Trump leave Biden a conundrum in regard to rejoining the JCPOA!' but nothing will stick on his teflon suit far awhile, will it? because: Not Trump's bombs, not Trump's ___ (fill in the blank)

oopsie, i hadn't seen that a Tweeter had linked to this above.
"Alleged" is being used
more and more often by the mainstream media lately when making assertions about foreign policy or war issues.
In your quote from the Washington Post,
I think they are showing signs of knowing their claims of attribution will be challenged sooner rather than later. Alternative news sites are already pointing out the facility we struck was part of Iraq's coordination with Iran in the area.
i also love the 'papers of
record' quoting 'anonymous insiders' so often. thanks for b's link; i'll read the rest of it in a bit.
i love irony anywhere, anytime,
and this came in on the popular resistance newsletter this am:
Alan Macleod, Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, feb. 25 (he opens a longish exposé:)
i'd seen it just after having read: Bernie Sanders backs Biden’s national security cabinet
, Patrick Martin, wsws.org, jan 27, 2021
he then quotes blinken's blinkworthy (but unsurprising) statements at his first presser.
That diverse group of advisors, staff and agency personnel
has or always was a cynical barrier to justified critiques of policy and practice under this administration.
How many 'ist' cards have been pulled out already when faced with questions they don't want to answer?? Yellin - earned her insider trading. Question? Are you an antifeminist? In recent days we've had several more cards pulled out in response to questions about policy and behaviours in agencies.
Hopefully most of us have learned our lesson and will look straight at actions and not swerve in the face of potential ID criticism.
Thank you.

Identity politics is weak tea
by now. Leave it to whichever flavor of red / blue
ruling (by fiat) to hang their petard on a passe
concept. Pretty darn obvious the intentions.
Stay mindful.

and from elijah magnier on twitter:

why is a good question
my guess is that the US military Is over financed plus
trying to control the world as a singular authority.
These ambitions will rain destruction upon our heads.
Time still to stop the death machine.
question everything
It didn't seem to matter previously.
