My pre- and post-election predictions

map.jpg

It's important to keep in mind that the oligarchs are going to win in a landslide regardless of the voting.
Either way, we are going to get a pro-Wall Street, anti-working class, Republican president. Which is why this is the least important election of your lifetime.

So at the risk of being waaayyyy wrong, I'm going to make some predictions.

1.) There's no way that Trump won't call the election fraudulent and bring in the lawyers.

2.) There's no way that Trump wins the popular vote.

Will that lead to violence? A majority of Americans think it will, and I'm incline to agree.
The office building that I'm sitting in currently has placed barricades around the building in case of riots. But I'm in California, and I think that political violence is unlikely out here.
It's far more likely in Rust Belt battleground states, and southern states that are trending toward the Dems.

violence.PNG

3.) If anyone shoots people for political reasons, it'll be Trump supporters doing it.
3a.) Trump supporters will remain convinced that they are the victims regardless of the facts.

Yet most voters (51 percent) also expect Trump to refuse to concede if he loses the election — and more than three-quarters (77 percent) worry that violence will break out in the coming days.
...
“I think it’s a terrible thing when states are allowed to tabulate ballots for a long period of time after the election is over,” Trump told reporters Sunday. “We’re going to go in the night of — as soon as that election’s over, we’re going in with our lawyers.”

Yet the vast majority of voters oppose this approach. A full 71 percent, in fact, prefer to wait “for mail-in ballots to be counted so we are sure which candidate won, even if the process drags on for some time” — while just 29 percent would rather “determine the outcome of the election quickly, even if many mail-in ballots have not been counted.”

Similarly, 68 percent of voters concur that “we must count every vote even if we don’t have a final result on November 3”; only 23 percent say “we must have a final result on November 3 no matter what.”

Only Trump’s supporters disagree with counting every ballot. Most (57 percent) would rather determine the election “quickly,” and a plurality (44 percent) says Nov. 3 should be the deadline for a final result — which is perhaps why roughly half the electorate thinks Trump wants to make it harder to vote (49 percent) and harder to count every vote (48 percent).

4.) I think Biden will eventually win the election, and the Dems will pick up a couple seats in the Senate.

5.) Biden will stop hiding his contempt for everyone on The Left. When it comes to his cabinet, he will exclude everyone not to the right of center.
Biden may, just to make a point, take the least important, most powerless cabinet post, and announce that he'll appoint a mainstream liberal here as some sort of compromise with the Bernie-wing, and the media will eat it up.
...and then Biden will change his mind and appoint a conservative, just to demonstrate how little he thinks of anyone on The Left.

6.) Biden will appoint lots of conservative, neoliberal, anti-worker, anti-poor, women and minorities to his cabinet. And places like MSNBC and DKos will call it "progressive" and swoon over it.

7.) Even with there being absolutely no doubt where Biden stands regarding what his policies are going to be, most progressives in Congress are going to say, "Wait. Give Biden a chance to see what he's going to do."
And so progressive politicians will wait until after Biden's first 100 days before becoming active. [possible exceptions to this rule: Cori Bush, Omar, and AOC. But Bernie won't speak up until after the first 100 days]

8.) The economy will drop again between now and spring, and this will get blamed on Biden, and he will blame The Left.

9.) At some point in Biden's term he will propose drastic and permanent cuts to Social Security and Medicare, and he'll call it "bipartisanship". And if progressives don't get active and organized quickly, it'll pass.

And Pelosi will cite "paygo" and "the trust fund is insolvent". She is a millionaire! What the Hell does she care?

This is why I call Trump the LOTE. I didn't vote for him because he has less chance of winning Illinois than he does of winning California. Voted for Hawkins to try and boost the idea of ending the Duoploy. Maine's ranked choice voting is the key.

And if progressives don't get active and organized quickly, it'll pass.

Remember when they were going to burn everything down if McConnell even tried to replace Ginsberg. Then they were going to burn it down if democrats didn’t block McConnell. They did neither, but are back to praising Pelosi for standing up to McConnell on the stimulus by not backing down. Or something. Just like Obama was the greatest president ever, Pelosi is the greatest speaker of the house.

"If Biden/democrats even think about cutting social security....!"

Bernie told Rising that he’s going to have his own 100 days for Biden. We’ll see.

First of all, here's Donald Trump summarized in one picture:

cijcibv1fnw51.jpg

Of course, this gag has been around at least as far back as the Clinton Administration, but no one does it suit better than Trump; far from a dictator, he has proved the most yielding POFT ('President-Or-Facsimile-Thereof') of the 21st Century, no doubt with the poorest service reviews on whatever the .01%er-equivalent of Yelp!.com is. Remember "Lock Her Up!"? He dropped that like a hot rock as soon as the election was over. He never meant it. He's as close to 100% bark as you can possibly get. He's not even a bully; he's pathetic - if it weren't for the symbiotic SOBs he surrounds himself with, providing himself a shell of superficial toughness while he in return absorbs all the slings and arrows that should all be going after THEM, he'd almost be benign. It's strange and sad; he is both more AND less fragile than any of them.

"WHY AP CALLED ILLINOIS FOR BIDEN:

The AP declared Democrat Joe Biden the winner of Illinois as soon as polls closed in the state, even though election officials there had yet to release any results from Tuesday’s presidential contest.

The news agency did so after results from AP VoteCast and an analysis of early voting statistics confirmed expectations that the state’s longstanding political trends in favor of Democratic presidential candidates will hold.

VoteCast, the AP’s wide-ranging survey of the American electorate, captures voters’ choices and why they made them.

Illinois has long been a Democratic stronghold and hasn’t swung for a Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1988. Hillary Clinton carried the state by 17 percentage points in 2016."

Bold by me!

Biden is not doing as good as people thought he would in the states that democrats thought he would. Flip Florida? One thing I haven’t heard Trump going after Biden for is NAFTA. calling him sleepy Joe and accusing him of being a socialist might make his supporters cheer, but he should have gone after his legislative record.

Concession is for gutless losers. Bernie Sanders folding like a cheap table when Biden won one state, South Carolina, conceding instead of fighting all the way to the convention floor like Ted Kennedy.
What's his background, anyway? Middle Class? Blue Collar sons learn to fight until they are killed. Surrender is oblivion. Jesus Christ! I learned that when I was three years old, attacked, stripped and thrown into a snowy construction hole to die. As Winston Churchill (a decidedly NOT blue collar guy) said, "Never Surrender! Never. Never. Never. We shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

I've been waiting all my life for the politician who will say, "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat". For the clarion call to fight for a better life for all my people. I thought Sanders was that man. I was horribly wrong.

EDIT: spelling, capitalization

Did we ever get a tally for the states that he did? I know that some states like California, Utah and a few others took weeks before they said Bernie won.

Twitter is abuzz with people saying Bernie would have won, but Daou has been on a roll all night. He and millions of others are totally pissed that Obama/DNC rigged the primary.

Tonight shows that people are still holding Obama accountable for his lousy presidency. Even if Biden squeaks out a win tomorrow when they count all the ballots the fact is that Biden did so poorly against Trump after his COVID response and everything else he has done the last 4 years. How embarrassing for democrats. But does anyone else feel like this was the plan all along?

I wonder if Trump will still pass the biggest, Bestest stimulus ever?

and yet no one would call Biden out for it. He has wanted to defund Social Security for decades and now it will probably happen. Obama tried to do it with his grand bargain, but the House Republicans under Boehner were afraid of being blamed for it. Pelosi and McConnell do not care as they are both multimillionaires.

We are so screwed in this country, but my comfortable "liberal" friends will go back to sleep the brunch they so dearly missed in 2016. And they will find a way to blame people like me for voting for Jill Stein in 2016 and Gloria La Riva in 2020 because we did not give them the landslide they suspected would happen.

Screw them all. I am done with it all. There is no way to save this country short of a revolution.

@gulfgal98 I don't believe any of it. "Democrats win when voter turnout is high!" they say. Sure doesn't look that way now. It shouldn't be this close. Nothing about this feels right to me. Even here where we have paper ballots, they are counted by machines.

I'm afraid things are never going to get better. That this is really what this country is--a country full of racist narcissists itching for a fight.

Other than that, I basically agree with the rest of your predictions.
