The dark money behind turning the courts right
Laura Clawson on DK wrote a diary on Whitehouse exposing the dark money behind turning the courts right and it goes into more detail than the video and is a must read.
Whitehouse described the Senate hearing room as being like a puppet theater, with “forces outside of this room who are pulling strings and pushing sticks and causing the puppet theater to react.”
I can't recommend this enough if you want to understand why McConnell blocked Obama's judges and why democrats have been helping him now fill up the courts. Clawson doesn't cover this aspect because only the GOP is bad, but both parties want previous legislation that helped the working class at the expense of the donor class overturned. Did you question why Obama caved on just about everything he ran on and let McConnell block him at every turn and dems just shrugged? This is why.
Amy Coney Barrett's religious beliefs are not as important to me as her rulings that went for the corporations. Lots of democrats are 'yada yada-ing without asking important questions and so far only Whitehouse has been the one to talk about something important.

With all the screaming for "diversity" everywhere else,
why is there less and less diversity on the Supreme Court?
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
justice(s) and peace
Great point! The women and ethnic minorities we install on the Court are effectively rendered white male Opus Dei Catholics by the time they get there.
More to the point, there are nine Justices -- and still neither justice nor peace!

Identity politics issues are not nearly as important
as the areas in which Republicans and Democrats agree with each other. The elephant with the donkey tail in the room is the degree to which both parties serve corporate interests over people’s interests.
We are so screwed.
