Just remember to stay drunk
“Be always drunken.
Nothing else matters:
that is the only question.
If you would not feel
the horrible burden of Time
weighing on your shoulders
and crushing you to the earth,
be drunken continually.Drunken with what?
With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you will.
But be drunken.And if sometimes,
on the stairs of a palace,
or on the green side of a ditch,
or in the dreary solitude of your own room,
you should awaken
and the drunkenness be half or wholly slipped away from you,
ask of the wind,
or of the wave,
or of the star,
or of the bird,
or of the clock,
of whatever flies,
or sighs,
or rocks,
or sings,
or speaks,
ask what hour it is;
and the wind,
wave,
star,
bird,
clock will answer you:
"It is the hour to be drunken!”-- Charles Baudelaire, Paris Spleen

good morning
another soggy one. Had 0.7" again yesterday. Supposed to dry up later this week, and cool off more next week. Been playing 5-6 pick up sticks cause limbs are scattered everywhere.
Fall crops coming on, but I guess my lettuce seed was too old. Got to buy seed and replant.
Thanks for the OT and tunes!

Good morning Lookout. You're way ahead of me, we're
still harvesting tomatoes. I did finally get around to planting a "row" of carrots in one of the beds, plus attempting to get 2 more Portuguese kale growing in the same bed too. They produce a ton of greens per with cut and come-again harvesting so I'd really like to have 2 or 3 mature ones in the ground at all times. Our Apple tree has been raining fruit for a couple of months, so we';; get started picking rsn just to make sure to save some. We prefer to pick in Oct, they're sweeter then.
I love "5, 6 pick up sticks", and will be adopting it. Not too long after we moved in I planted two redbuds, front and read, for nature based thermo-regulation of the house, and they do that in spades. It is part of their colonization process.

OK, what is "5, 6 pick up sticks"?
Thank you.
A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit. Allegedly Greek, but more possibly fairly modern quote.
Consider helping by donating using the button in the upper left hand corner. Thank you.
It a line of the nursery rhyme....
One, two,
Buckle my shoe;
Three, four,
Knock at the door;
Five, six,
Pick up sticks;
Seven, eight,
Lay them straight:
Nine, ten,
A big fat hen;
Eleven, twelve,
Dig and delve;
Thirteen, fourteen,
Maids a-courting;
Fifteen, sixteen,
Maids in the kitchen;
Seventeen, eighteen,
Maids a-waiting
Nineteen, twenty,
My plate’s empty

And I jokingly use the 5,6 line when I have to clean up limbs.

Outdoor Life - Ben Cunningham
aka my Uncle Ben. I support a Green New Deal, it might be where the clashing of human ecotones could make a better future for those who remain. Right on, keep going. Grow hemp! LOL Back to the future.
Still glad the Columbus statue has been retired from the parking lot there. Drake High and Dixie School district names are going too. Welcome future, where is the new Helen Caldicott? Boomers got lucky when she talked Reagan down from nuclear catastrophe, where is the millennial Helen? I don't know.
Uncle Ben did the art for a Kenny Dorham album called Matador in 1969. Here's a cut:

Good morning eyo. Great picture and album cover art.
The Coit Tower art project was a really wonderful thing. I expect that there will be no new Helen Caldicotts. War is now generally accepted for whatever reasons. Hell, it isn't really a thing anymore, it is continuous, just part of the background noise, "something, something, US Interests, blah, blah, blah" on the news and the ongoing death, violence, bombs and lethal sanctions, and that's ok, I guess because, shit, look at the stock market and the so unconscionably shitty job market ...
Hmmph, sorry.

G'Mornin' EL,
hope all is well.
43degF when we went out for morning tea to watch the sunrise. At this rate, we'll have first frost before the tomatillos really get to fatten up snd ripen, and then 3 more weeks of 90s. The joys of fall in CO...
Can no longer bear to turn on the TV. I'm just glad that we're only ~6 weeks away from ballots coming out, to get the requisite participation in our absurdly-long national quadrennial dry-heaves over with.
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
Good morning anti-sesquipedalian. TV, the one eyed
god-monster of the US living room. Target of disdain, hope, and calumny for 70 years of so now. Take it or leave it if you can. Something, as often as not Faux Media is playing on multiple screens everywhere you go, bars, restaurants, medical delivery practitioners' waiting rooms, you name it. We're about one step away from the giant screens blaring oficial propaganda 24-7 on every street corner.

Quinnipiac Polling phoned me
Last night on my cell phone. That is a very extensive poll! They were polling about the presidential election. First, they qualify you. They are looking for registered voters who will vote in this election. My guess is that in regard to the approve or disapprove questions and how strongly, virtually everyone here would have answered as I did. The poll took at least half an hour. Your answers are recorded and determine what some of the further questions will be.
At the end, they get demographic information. (They are clever, ask your birth year instead of your age.) And once again attempt to ascertain that you will be voting for president in the 2020 election. Last question was an opportunity to comment. I’m sure some here would have had enough to say to fill another 15 minutes. But I was tired by then.
I am willing to answer questions about the poll, if anyone has any.
Good afternoon Granma. Thanks for suffering through that
for the benefit of all of us. Been there, not yet this year, so I very much stmpathize.

There was so much else going on, the 75th anniversary of
the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki seems to have passed with nary a blip registering in most people’s consciousness …

A unique part of the Asian-American experience is that it’s not even a reactionary and your political enemy, but rather the progressive leader you probably voted for, who ends up putting your family in a concentration camp or annihilating hundreds of thousands of civilians who look like you without a moment’s hesitation.
Good morning lot. Some of my e-mail sources brought it
up, but they aren't by any means mainstream. You know, that's all history, we've got to look forward, as Obama would say.
Same for the camps. True to his policy of following Reagan's footsteps on most matters, WJC belatedly and pointlessly apologized for PR purposes. Reagan's apology, however, not only preceded that, but included money, and I didn't see WJC cough up any extra.

Centrist prezelizing mind
Today Biden said that he is not banning fracking. Here's the reason why that is acceptable with the climate already on fire:
Not banning fracking + promoting new green energy sources to make them more economically feasible and cheaper than fracking= the end of fracking
You wanna lose Pennsylvania?
Besides he has a stated goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2050.
Oh well just a few decades too late for the peoples and species that live on the planet. But then the main goal is beating Trump and then they can push Biden to the left. Anyone who believes that wasn't paying attention to the platform convention when Biden refused to move one inch left. Reality based community my left buttock.
Our cool down is here. High today is 78 with low this morning 52. Tomorrow 76/44. This will last for 2 days. Usually high 70's is comfortable in the spring and fall, but not in the summer when it has been in the high 90-100's for weeks. I remember coming home from CA where it had been over 110 at 6pm in Sept and freezing my tush off and being laughed at because I started the fire in the basement. I will enjoy these 2 days, but might have to turn the heat on in the convertible. Charlie will love it tho.
Good afternoon Snoops. The banks are set up to own all
the frackers pretty much any time they wish, and Biden would never do anything that might negatively impact Bank revenue. Personally, I think we should permit and even encourage the takeover, and then hang 'em out there for the clean-up and restoration, but that will, sadly, never happen.

Instant Karma got me
Pandemic, depression, wildfires, broken collarbone, smoke madness... all that made me totally forget about my broken tooth. So when I awoke to a pounding toothache I could hardly believe my fortune. Thanks a lot.
I was wrong, herbs are not good for everything. Bob Marley died of toe cancer partly because he did not seek treatment, that is what I read but had forgotten. I don't know.
There is one less sunflower on the row today, someone chopped its head off so there are one-sixth the number of beautiful bees buzzing around down there. Harsh.
It's not just me, Always Talking Man was screaming at someone at the corner store when I went postal, same verbal sewer break. I'm afraid he's going to get shot in the face 'cause it's not just the homeless losing their shit every day around here. Everything is in collapse.
I decided not to eat more red meat, that was just crazy talk in the comments. I crave protein and calcium and can acquire those elements elsewhere. I am lost in my memories, regrets. The murder induced karma baggage is too heavy for my tiny mind and broken heart. It's a bummer.
My last epiphany of the morn was: Why in hell did they save Detroit? I almost said "we" but won't make that mistake again. Nope. Have you seen what Detroit is putting on the streets lately? Disgustingly huge tanks, that's what. I just saw a shiny maroon tank bigger than a UPS truck cruise by. What the bloody hell are people thinking? Never mind, I don't want to know. I don't want anything anymore, except to sleep, perchance to dream, aye there's the rub.

good afternoon magi. Its a good day for a good deed;
bioswales rock. No good location here unfortunately. IF I could get through this damn clay and hardpan I'd sink a bunch of drain tiles vertically ten feet or more and fill them with lava rock, but that would be herulean.
