An Italian Mama
Mrs. Ravioli comes to visit her son Anthony for dinner He lives with a female roommate, Maria.
During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty Anthony's roommate is. And over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Anthony and his roommate than met the eye.
Reading his mom's thoughts, Anthony volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Maria and I are just roommates.''
About a week later, Maria came to Anthony saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the silver sugar bowl.
You don't suppose she took it, do you?" ..."Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure."
So he sat down and wrote an email:
Dear MaMa,
I'm not saying that you "did" take the sugar bowl from my house; I'm not saying that you "did not" take it. But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.

Another rainy one here as the last gasp of Laura sweeps through. According to a nearby airport we've had 26 days of rain this month. Most of them just pm showers, but I've poured out over 5 inches of rain in the last couple of weeks. Not complaining mind you, just shock at this unusual weather for an Alabama August...cool and wet. Calls to mind this poem...

Possible benefits of playing outside:

Improved overall health. ...
Improved muscle strength. ...
Increased openness with parents and caregivers. ...
Greater self-awareness. ...
Appreciation for the environment. ...
Improved peer-to-peer relationships.
OK, so the above list was intended for children or actually for parents who, it appears, need to argue their children into the outdoors. (With time and repetition, said children might learn to love playing outside.)
Seeing how there is a general shortage among all ages of biophilia, we should probably circulate that list far and wide. The oldsters (of which I am one) may benefit as well. The possible improvement in peer-to-peer relationships offers hope.
