U.S. House Speaker Pelosi against temporary extension to enhanced jobless benefits
U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Friday she was not considering a temporary extension to enhanced unemployment benefits, which expire on July 31, while Congress continues work on a new coronavirus relief bill.
"I would be very much averse to separating this (unemployment benefits) out and lose all leverage (on Republicans) for ... meeting all of the other needs," as lawmakers negotiate another coronavirus aid bill, Pelosi, a Democrat, told reporters.
Enhanced unemployment benefits that Congress authorized early in the coronavirus pandemic expire in one week's time, and lawmakers have been unable to agree on a measure to extend them. The benefits provide an extra $600 a week on top of what states are already paying tens of millions of jobless workers.
But here’s the joke.
Pelosi also told reporters an amusing story that illustrated public concern about Congress's next steps.
She said she recently tried to telephone actor Rob Reiner to express condolences at the death of his father, comedian Carl Reiner.
"I called Rob. 'Rob, Rob darling, this is Nancy Pelosi, I'm calling to wish you and Michele my condolences. I'm so sad, your father was so funny and so wonderful,'" she said.
"This man says, 'I think you have the wrong number,'" she continued. "And he says, 'But I'm so glad you called me. I have one question for you ... am I going to get my $600?'"
Yeah that’s really funny Nancy. Hardy har har! This is actually no big deal to her. It’s just that 30% of people were unable to pay their rent or mortgage last month and that number is going to go up next month. 28 million are expected to be foreclosed on in the middle of the epidemic. It took years for 10 million people to lose their homes during Obama’s tenure. This is going to happen lickety split and Nancy thinks it’s funny that people are asking about the extended benefits. Businesses are not reopening because of the uno pandemic and people don’t feel it’s safe. Or businesses have closed down for good because of Congress’ dereliction to us and only bailed out their friends and family which many did not need the money. Pelosi. McConnell's wife and many other members of congress got to take millions from the PPP even though they are all worth many millions. "F’ck you little people. We got ours and now we are taking another vacation. It’s hard work screwing you guys."

Here she is telling us on the Twit what congress MUST do as if we have any say or power to make them do it. This just drives me batters. Don't tell us Jay... and Bernie. Tell Nancy and Chuckles that they will not get your vote and that you will do everything in your power to block it. Maybe if enough 'progressive' democrats make a stand things will change. There is a video included in the article and she starts out lashing Trump for not wearing a mask for 100 days. She then talks about how the unemployment extension is beneficial to Americans.
She then goes on to lie about Neal who is the bluest blue dawg democrat that works against working families, but do go on and gaslight us into believing that this is just a republican dereliction of duty Nancy. If they had offered an extension to the $600, but you didn't want to lose your leverage of allowing lobbyists to partake in the PPP that has gone mostly to rich friends and families or any of the other gifts to them just so that people aren't living in fear and anguish this weekend.
She ends by saying that the GOP passes bills to those who don't need it and totally forgetting her role in working with Mnuching on the 1st CARES bill that did just that. Then it's the tax cuts that added to the benefits. You know just one more bill that might have been stopped if just one democrat had thrown hijinks into the bill or filibustered it like the GOP did when dems were working on the ACA. Dems gave the GOP everything they wanted it that cracker jack bill and then they passed it. Why? To get the GOP to vote for it. How many did? ZERO. None. NADA. 0.

Trump-villes will obviously be bandied about since he is public enemy number 1, never mind he's not the one really pulling those strings though. I remember back when my sister used to say the economic collapse in 2008 was "Bush's plan" but that is no more accurate than it being all on Trump - these people are mere puppets doing the bidding of their masters. I went in a store yesterday to look at flooring for my kitchen and was just one of two people in there where there were 10 or more people. The sales 'lady' who was not wearing a mask asked if I'd been helped yet and I told her why I was there. She said "what? I can't hear you very well because of the mask." lol so I repeated it but lowered my voice which she heard quite well. I wonder if her poor service towards me had anything to do with my wearing it. But how can you sell stuff when you're ignoring your customer? I brought samples home, but will not deal with that store. Not because she wasn't wearing one, but for how she treated me. How do people not get that?
