Saagar on the Russian bounty story

More on that in this one.

Edge wrote this in the Pentagon denial essay and Saagar and Ryan talk about this at the end of the video.

It would be funny if it weren't so scary...that so many unelected senior advisers consider the national interest to be whatever the hell they want it to be and that they so often get their way despite the best interests of the country.

We do have an unelected power structure in this country that does whatever the hell it wants with regards to wars and where the money is sent.

The NYT first told us that the information that Russia was putting bounties on troop's heads was because they found a cache with $500,000 American dollars, but here they are saying that they intercepted financial data that bolstered suspicions that Russia did the deed.

Suspicions of Russian Bounties Were Bolstered by Data on Financial Transfers

Analysts have used other evidence to conclude that the transfers were most likely part of an effort to offer payments to Taliban-linked militants to kill American and coalition troops in Afghanistan.

American officials intercepted electronic data showing large financial transfers from a bank account controlled by Russia’s military intelligence agency to a Taliban-linked account, evidence that supported their conclusion that Russia covertly offered bounties for killing U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence.

Though the United States has accused Russia of providing general support to the Taliban before, analysts concluded from other intelligence that the transfers were most likely part of a bounty program that detainees described during interrogations.

Investigators also identified by name numerous Afghans in a network linked to the suspected Russian operation, the officials said — including, two of them added, a man believed to have served as an intermediary for distributing some of the funds and who is now thought to be in Russia.

The intercepts bolstered the findings gleaned from the interrogations, helping reduce an earlier disagreement among intelligence analysts and agencies over the reliability of the detainees. The disclosures further undercut White House officials’ claim that the intelligence was too uncertain to brief President Trump. In fact, the information was provided to him in his daily written brief in late February, two officials have said.

This goes back to what Saagar said about how the Afghan officials do not want a peace treaty because then they would get off the government teat. Do we even know how many warlords and druglords are getting paid by the US? Yes we do because of the Afghanistan War Papers that didn't get a smidge of the coverage this bogus story is getting. The Pentagan and the National Security council have denied that it happened. As have Russia and the Taliban. Oh yeah, except now the story has changed to the Taliban linked group are really terrorists. How convenient huh?

If someone says that this is pure bunk the Slimes just adjusts the story to fit its narrative.

White House and National Security Council officials declined to comment, as did the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe. They pointed to statements late Monday from Mr. Ratcliffe; the national security adviser, Robert C. O’Brien; and the Pentagon’s top spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman. All of them said that recent news reports about Afghanistan remained unsubstantiated.

Yesterday one of the Slimes writers posted a picture of one of the soldiers that was killed in Afghanistan and boy did Twitter light her up for doing it. I will update this when I find it.

Read the rest if you want. Or don't waste your time on this propaganda because that is what this is. If people are really so upset that our troops are being killed in our longest war in history then you'd think they would want to end the war and bring them out of harm's way. That they are instead saying that we should go after Russia instead is beyond belief. Even folks who used to be anti war when the previous one of the worst presidents ever was in office are wanting Trump to go after Russia. Yeah what could go wrong? A two front war on a nuclear power? They are idiots/a>. Plain and simple.

to pay money to the Taliban. Like to buy heroin. The Taliban doesn't operate as a 501C, they grow and process opium. Likewise Russian Army Intelligence needs funding and their government sure isn't afloat in cash lately. When I see cash my mind always goes to drugs, and I always assume the folks in control of an area are in on it. Lived too long in Yunnan.
