Welcome to Saturday ...

"Break the silence, dawn is here."

When holding the bible upside down, especially, in front of old churches, be careful as meanings change: reading "put down the plow and pick up the sword," older, wiser, hippies may rise from the wood-works of white houses and swarm front lawns; awaking Lafayette's lede from sleep in peaceful, dreaming parks.
Dew-ferries rise, too,
Flower children bring magic paints,

The saints all gather at the river.

Morning smiley
Here's where my mind went with your Saturday offering ... the saints all gather at the river while the sinners ride bare-back on the carousel.
This is the music that came to mind …

Does that intriguing painting have anything to do with the Confederacy vs.the Union?
ps. because your musical addition was so small, all I could see was “video unavailable”. If it were bigger I would have seen the title and performer, and most likely have found it on youtube.
Perfect tune, janis; thank you.
Starred for a long while at the Carousel; love the lion and the cotton-candy colors. It does appear the nymphs are at play as the king rides securely on. Coney Island, 1932 ... hum?
singing together
I hope they develop a vaccine that works for covid-19.
Video concerts are just not the same as live and in person!

Roger Miller was born in my hometown, not raised there but
I missed the Elvis show, but often I saw Ray Price and that quiet guy with short hair wearing a suit, Willie Nelson, and my Uncle Billy would often say "he sure sings some sad songs".
That was before Patsy Cline hit gold with Willie's 'Crazy', or Faron Young, another regular, did 'Hello Walls'.
Many years later after Willie had become such a star he never forgot old friends that had long vanished from the C&W music scenes, Willie put them on some of his albums and he stayed in close contact with them all, especially Ray Price right up until his death.
I'd bet dollars against donuts that Willie paid for their funeral services, and gave money to the families, but for certain they still get royalties from Willie's top selling albums they were on.
Love the tunes, thanks jbob and have a wonderful weekend.
I miss concerts
and live performances as well. I never imagined we would not have them.
I saw this
group a few years ago. The people in the group change from time to time.
When I need inspiration
a different point of view, a sliver of hope, anything better, music can help.
thank you for that.
i'd actually pinged their 'wade in the water':

and i've been thinking now and again that i'd sorta believed that the new mayan calendar would actually come true: 'swords to plowshares' which would fit with smiley's post.
Nice choice
Morning inspiration appreciated, randtntx,
hey, got out yesterday, joined old ski buddies, Jim and Cathy, she's still fighting cancer, five years in and having weekly treatments. We met at the Grandfather winery which sits along the Boone fork, is very large, with tents, tables and seating outside among the grapes. A beautiful day to be out and the Appalachian red was good, too.
Have a lovely weekend.
That sounds
Have a good week smiley and take good care.
Good morning, smiley ~~
Rock My World
What would you say
if I told you today
my world is on fire
is it your desire
to rock my world?
The covid is here
to ally all fear
of being alone
in our own home
learning to rock the world.
Rejoice in the feeling
of happiness this evening
of the change we witness
each day testing our fitness
and rocking our world
to a new existence.
A beautiful day on hand in the land of enchantment.
Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Morning RA,
Cheers for rocking words today. Bring on the "new existence."
Have a beautiful desert day and weekend.

Good Morning, I keep thinking about the second painting
in your morning offerings. What it would mean - what do you see in it?
To me it looks like breaking out, searching for ones own spaces and more freedoms.
I hear my sister mocking me in my mind, saying: you have no eyes, I never see what she sees.
Oh, well, sisters, you know, they have their issues...
I see a lot. Darn, I have to take my position and defend it, right?
Have a good weekend. Our weather is a bit crazy, never behaves like the weatherman in TV says it would behave. So, I say it's the weatherman who is crazy, the weather is just doing its thing his/her way.
Got a bit sentimental and teary now. Never really listened to this song consciously. There is s time for everything, so now I listened to it and I started to cry.
Be well, stay safe and to all more freedom and less hate.

Morning mimi,
Love the clark piece, don't know what it means, it's powerful and breaks the norm, i feel struggle and humanity in it; a bit about the artist:
Thanks for the lovely tune and thanks for being here.
Good morning smiley. Are you channeling my back yard?
Top picture is a stunner, second is a puzzler. Wonderful beginning. Been busy with all the mundane realities, some long pending tasks and some spontaneous, constant busyness like some crazy chickadee or something. Much done yet ever so much more still to do while inspiration waxes and wanes and ideas come, get lost and forgotten and return at random while digging or pruning or sawing or something. Coffee time. The solstice approaches. printf("Hello World")
Morning has broken, or perhaps morning is broken, I dunno. The long slow decline into winter starts in 7 days as time's juggernaut staggers onwards. The garden still has one unplanted bed, but there is nothing one should plant in June here. Whatever. The apricots are ripening and for once we will be home in early July, so who knows what that will be like. Time to make some breakfast.
be well and have a good one.

Good morning, el,
Glad you enjoyed this morning'a art. Here's a little about the art and artist:
Have a splendid weekend.
Morning smiley
Great music all. Times are a changing. I can feel it. And we have front row seats. Hold on.
Love the ones you’re with...
Be safe and take good care, all.

Morning magi,
another day in Appalachian paradise; bright sunshine, deep blue skies and a cool breeze.
Have a wonderful West Coast weekend.
As usual Smiley
Your Saturday OT heals my soul just when I need it most. Many thanks to members here for the wonderful musical contributions. My heart is both heavy and full thinking about everything that is going on in the world right now, and gospel singers somehow touch that place inside us, even if you are not religious, that shines a light on our humanity.
So, here is my pick for one of the all time great gospel singers; the beautiful Mahalia Jackson with a song that bumped even Elvis Presley off the charts.
There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it. ~ Minnie Aumonier
Morning Anja,
Lots to heal in this world. Lucky in having online friends who share the pain and joy when so much is in need.
Hope you've some downtime this weekend to enjoy your garden.
Big cheers for the MJ.
An honest mistake...
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Driving while black .....with a twist
Driving while black with a twist
Boy if this doesn't shine the spotlight on what blacks in this country experience daily I don't know what will. I constantly read comments from people here who refuse to see that cops do hassles blacks just for the color of their skin. Even George Floyd's death is being denied was because of the color of his skin. Blacks just need to obey cops, not commit crimes or put themselves in positions that make the cops hassle them on a daily basis.
This story should go viral so that many whites who refuse to admit that yes there is still a problem with racism in America.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
Good afternoon
Been a busy AM. Beautiful cool morning. Ventured to trade day for the 1st time since the lockdown. It is outside. Less than half wore masks. They just don't understand.
Got some great avocados, and enjoyed seeing some folks. Then home to chores. Its busy season. Nice to have a productive day though.
hope all is well in the highlands. Coming on to sure enough summer next week, but calling for cool dry days for the next week. Garden is liking it. So are the birds. Lots of activity. All the best to all of you!
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Such a great song, look at the faces of the other stars onstage
Happy Gorgeous Saturday/Summer Day! Glad for you,
Smiley, that you finished your paperwork. Hope you're having as lovely weather in your beautiful mountains, as we're enjoying. As usual, thank you for another lovely OT.
Today, we're going to spend several hours outside with Rambo--walking her, and, letting her get some rigorous exercise in her fenced area. We're quite lucky to be very close to a major thoroughfare that has old fashioned sidewalks. Actually, we thought that Rambo might slow down a bit (as she aged) - she just turned 19 months. Apparently, we thought wrong.
Good luck if you're still searching for a furbaby soulmate--please, keep us posted. And, have a nice rest-of-your-weekend!
Stay safe.

Late reply Molly,
Sorry i missed you yesterday; great to get out, been fishing, very happy camper.
Take good care.
RIP John Prine, this is from one of my favorite albums
A song so apt for these days
From the lyrics
"Padlock the door and board the windows
Put the people in the street
"It's just my job," he says "I'm sorry."
And draws a check, goes home to eat
But at night he tells his woman
"I know I hide behind the laws."
She says, "You're only taking orders."
That's how every empire falls.
A bitter wind blows through the country
A hard rain falls on the sea
If terror comes without a warning
There must be something we don't see
What fire begets this fire?
Like torches thrown into the straw
If no one asks, then no one answers
That's how every empire falls."
Late reply, aliasalias, great to see you.
Cheers for the wonderful tunes and poetry.
Be well and safe out there.
